Rumors are flying around that Rudy Reyes has been cast for the role of Alcide Herveaux, Sookie’s werewolf friend in the novels. However, True Blood News talked to his manager and as of today, this rumor is unconfirmed (but not denied!). Your thoughts? Would Rudy be a good Alcide for you?

Yeah, I think he’d be good for me… um, I mean as Alcide. I am not having a problem if this man is indeed cast. Of course I’m basing this off of this picture only. I’ve never seen him act or anything.
Ooh, he’s quite nice if you like that sort of thing, but I’d still prefer Henry Cavill from The Tudors. Actually this dude kind of looks like him round the face. Excellent scoop (of sorts) ladies.

I totally agree Henry would be good. I know this will never happen but when i read the books I always pictured him as Hugh Jackman like Wolverine. Even though i am a diehard Eric fan Alcide was the only other guy that i liked Sookie with when i read the books.
Not bad…but when I read book three I pictured “alcide” as Gerard Butler. Since Alan Ball has a “no stars” on True Blood rule (plus Gerard probably wouldn’t consider the role), this is just wishful thinking on my part. As for Rudy Reyes, he’s not bad on the eyes. But Rudy looks too pretty in this photo, not quite enough “rugged looking.”
I liked Gerard Bulter too. I just watched Marely & Me and totally think Dean Cane would be perfect.
May be a bad photo but I don’t get that he’s “handsome” as Alcide is described.
Someone mentioned Scott Elrod to play Alcide and let me tell you….Hhhhot. He is SO Alcide but who knows what he is up to right now. Personally, I don’t think this guy is right for the role but I haven’t seen him in anything else either. Didn’t Alexander Skarsgard star in Generation Kill?
I can’t say I’ve ever seen the guy act, but I did see a pic of him where he has that were look, what ever that hell that means.
Well Reyes is hot and that is good…but I pictured Alcide as more outdoor rugged look something like Gerard Butler, or someone we could pick for spokesperson for Brawny Paper towels.

This guy could work, he’s not exactly what I pictured in my mind for Alcide from the descriptions in the book, I pictured a guy more rugged. I think actor Michael Scratch fits the description pretty darn well…he was the alpha werewolf on Animal Planets Werewolves: The Dark Survivors.

I love Rudy, just because he seems like an awesomely nice guy and we owe him our undying gratitude for being part of the first Marines on the ground in Iraq. However, I’ve only ever seen him portray himself in Generation Kill and have no idea how he is as someone else.
Don’t really know this guy and I can’t remember what the description of Alcide was in tho books. I guess they can make him look like whatever they want him to look with make up etc.
I loved Rudy in Generation Kill where he just played himself. He was one of my favorite characters in a field of awesome characters. I think he would be a great Alcide. He is gorgeous and strong, just like the Alcide in my mind.

Yeah, I think he looks the part. He’s quite hunky in fact but he is hunky enough? I had Alcide pictured as more brawny. Of course, it’s about the acting too. So, if Henry Cavill is busy, I say bring it!
I heard rudy has the acting chops, but is it enough for this show? I mean if the show follows the books, he will be sharing screen time with anna and alex the majority of the time. And they are talented seasoned actors. Acting since they were kids really, so rudy will have to hold his own.. He definately looks the part. Maybe needs to get more rugged looking. I’m sure for a marine that mission is not that hard :) lol!

He would be good but Eduardo Verastegui (I think I spelt his name correctly) I also think has the perfect look for Alcide (although perhaps too good looking … but hey – I can live with that!)
He’s a god choice but I’m not convinced that he’s the best choice. I agree with several others, Henry Cavill has more of the look for Alcide and he’s a better actor than Rudy. Henry Cavill would definitely be able to hold his own in scenes with Anna and Alexander, especially exuding that were-air.
NO… oh gosh he does not look like Alcide… way too scrawney.. Some one more like Jeffrey Dean Morgan would be a great fit… hot, sexy, manly, outdoorsy… and has that animal magnetism…

I think that Rudy would be perfect as Alcide. He’s got the same kind, thoughtful, gentlemanly aura around him that i got from Alcide in the books and plus, hey Rudy is not bad on the eyes. His friends in the marines always joked that he could do gay porn…lol
I was reading some of the comments and saw that some people thought he wouldn’t be able to hold his own in scenes with anna and alex, well i know he can hold his own with alex because he acted with him in generation kill and did a fabulous job.
I think Rudy would be great! How exciting! But I may be bias because I grew up with Rudy and I love the books too. I think Rudy could do anything he puts his mind to.
I think he definitely looks the part, and he was good on Gen Kill. But really, how hard can it be to play yourself? I’m a bit concerned about his acting abilities in such a big role, if the rumors are true, but I’d love to be pleasantly surprised ;-)

I read the books; I see Alcide as rougher around the edges. I haven’t seen much of Rudy Reyes. but what I have he gives off way too “metrosexual” vibe… I can’t see him playing blue collar Alcide. I see Alcide more someone like Carter Oosterhouse or Jared Padalecki (from Supernatural — all lovely scruffy 6′4″ of him… yum). JDM is the perfect vibe, but I think he’s just too old at this point. He’s got to be in his 40’s now and no way Alcide is over 32.
Whever said Eduardo Verastegui… whoa… yes he’s perfect too. Loved him in Bella. Actually the more I think about it yes HE’d be a fantastic Alcide. I cast my vote or Eduardo!!
I think he’d be perfect. Pretty similar to what I imagined. I’ve looked at his other photos pn imdb, and I’ve seen generation kill, though I’d have to watch it again and look for him. I think I vaguely remember him on it. (Usually I’m watching for Alex, of course)

Rudy Reyes is actually a US marine that hapened to be used to train the cast of Generation Kill (with Skarsgard)> as it happens he ended up portraing himself in the series.. Completelly gorgeous, seems to be a really nice guy. Ah and he is fit as hell too!!! There is one scene in GK when he is naked, the guy’s body is unbelievable!
I am sad he didn’t get cast thought! He would be perfect for the part!
