Alexander Skarsgård made his US talk show debut today on Live! With Regis & Kelly. He is currently in New York to shoot his new movie, What Maisie Knew starring Julianne Moore.
Alex talked with Regis Philbin & Kelly Ripa about being a child actor in Sweden, being in the Royal Swedish Navy, getting his doctorate from Leeds Met University, playing Eric Northman on True Blood, being naked. They showed one of the clips from last week’s show where Eric & Bill fight at Sookie’s. (Okay, so nothing really new, but still a delight for Alex fans.)
Regis was Regis calling Sookie “Snoozie”. At one point, Alex say “let’s get naked!”
So great to see him doing talk shows, but you can tell he is getting sick of being asked the same questions. He seemed to be a good sport about it but I can’t help but feel like he holds back.

Thanks for posting Jody! I am glad that Alex is doing some US interview television. I hope for his sake that everyone starts asking new questions. I feel like I’ve seen this interview several times already. Let Alex give more of himself then his preference for clothing or non clothing!! Yes we all of to see him naked, but I’m sure he is ready to talk about something else at this point. Congrats Dr. Skarsgard :-)!
Oh he is sooo gorgeous. But its pretty obvious he’s mildly irritated answering the same questions.
My gosh! He’s so tall! I knew he was tall, but my goodness, he towers over Regis and Kelly!
I love it! Loved when Regis asked him if it bothered him getting naked. Alex just looked at Regis and said…”I am from Sweden.” Nice to see him on a morning show, it sure made my day start with a smile!
I do not understand why everyone has to ask the same questions! Perhaps it is directive that they must? I do not know, but I understand Alex if he was bored …
I do not like these America talk show. Too little time … In Eruopa we have long talk shows where everyone gets at least 20 minutes ….
I know to us he seems like a household name, but in teh USA , he isn’t. This is his first American tv show interview yes? The average viewer doesn’t know who he is or anything about him.
Also, I’ve followed other actors careers and it’s like this with ALL of them. Certain actors get the same types of quewtions over and over. And their management will often advise the shows producers if any topics are “off limits”
And I hate to say this, but Alex has to turn some of this around himself. He doesn’t want ot talk about his private life AT ALL , and some of these shows like Regis aren’t hardcore tv/movie shows that ask in depth questions…they’re more like human interest, fun and fluff…so they bring up the nudity thing . If he was wiling to talk about who he was dating, I’m sure they’d be thrilled and stop asking aout the nudity stuff.
Look at how often Anna and Stephen are asked about their relationship. Anna usually puts it off a bit cuz she’s more like Alex that way. Stephen is just a little chatter bug (love that!) , plus he’s just very witty and funny…he gives great sound bites, which these shows love. He’s good at sounding like he’s aanswering the question when he really hasn’t said anything at all.

Just things to keep in mind…
How can Alex talk about his private like when he dumped… I mean… broke up his relationship by a “mutual decision”? Awkward. ;)
And I prefer Alex more subtle approach. I like he isn’t too chatty, because I don’t want him in a “foot in the mouth” situation. :)
He did talk about his personal life. His mom, his brother, his Doctorate from Leeds. None of that has to do with True Blood, which is why he was a guest on the show.
His “personal life relationships” are no one’s business but his own. I respect that.
Alex was funny, well spoken and charming. Not to mention Swexy as hell. :)
Unforrtunately, in today’s media cliimate , there’s an expectation of openess about these things..it’s a fine line…if you reveal too much people get sick ofyou…if you don’t get out there enough…you have no clout about getting parts because no one knows who you are.
Alex is who he is , but like many actors he’s going to have to learn his approach to make his career work. It’s not just abou the acting, if it was there would be a lot of lame actors who wouldn’t be starring in film after film would there?
Alex looks good! Glad to see him starting to do more interviews. Isn’t Regis retiring??
Oh geez, I couldn’t believe Kelly asked about biting fans and the nudity question again! I’m sure he was doing his best to be polite, but if he really were a vampire, I think she would have been in trouble! At least they did turn it around and make it a little funny by asking him if he was uncomfortable wearing clothes! And then the standard question of whether the love scene was awkward since Steven and Anna are a couple. I guess they are trying to appeal to the new viewer, not the hardcore fan who has already seen numerous interviews!
I know, its like they thought no one knew who he was..lol. The Stephen/Anna question always make me cringe. Like they aren’t all professionals. I loved though how Alex responded to the question about did it cause problems on the set. He said well you just saw that scene…it was real…lol. Good comeback for that. But anyway, I did love seeing him. More please.

I too am getting very tired of the same questions. But haven’t we been saying this for a couple of years now – you’d think “The Authority” would have caught on. I believe talk shows are given lists of questions they can and can’t ask by an actors’ peeps. Maybe we should make up some ‘good ‘?s and viral them. Maybe find out what questions Alex would like to have asked of him? I thought he was funny and relaxed on this interview. Kinda nice to see all of him in full ‘day light.’ He’s even cuter than I thought – bummer. My poor boyfriend…
Alex was so cute and beautiful, but again the same questions. I want to hear about something new, FE about new movie with Juliane Moore , filming this august in NY.
I love when they showed the pic of Leeds and his response: ”I look like a character from Harry Potter!”

I really don’t want to hear about celebrities’ “personal relationships” in general. It feels a little creepy and stalkerish to me. I thought he was charming albeit a little nervous for his first big US broadcast interview but I’m sure he’ll get used to it Kelly looked like a fangirl;)
I agree KC, he doesn’t need to talk about his personal relationships at all. He’s made a decision to keep his private life private and there are loads of other actors/actresses who manage this quite well as well. So Kudos to Alex for being true to himself….
