We love to speculate, in fact we spend hours dissecting each episode, looking for clues into the next installment. This Sunday will be the second week in a row without our True Blood and the withdrawals have set in. We aimlessly walk around the house, knowing there is something we’re supposed to do, but can’t quite figure out what’s missing. The nine month wait is sinking in and we are speculating and running crazy with theories to fill that empty space True Blood has left.
We have seen some very interesting theories and as tiresome as thread hopping can be, we’ve decided to share some of the ones that are lurking around the boards.
Speculation and Theories
*Throws holy water on the possessed chair* "The power of Christ compels you."
- The reason Eric has been acting so out of character is that his throne has a curse on it. This is why his actions outside of Fangtasia differ from when he is inside the bar. This also explains Sookie’s behavior because once she seated herself in his throne she became slightly evil.
- AMNESIA – There are a couple theories floating around on this one. For those of you who don’t follow the books you’re probably confused, but no worries, hopefully Alan Ball will change things up and we’ll all be confused. Here’s what we’ve seen:
- Bill gets the amnesia and Pam looks after him.
- Sookie gets amnesia and forgets about all the craziness in her life.

Hoyt, the next baby vamp?
- Hoyt will be our next baby vamp. That’s right… his NRA packing mama is going to miss Jessica’s head and plug her son with a bullet. Bill or Jessica will become the proud parent of baby vamp Hoyt.
- While in the great kingdom of fairyland, Sookie meets Niall and he explains Bill’s actions. He also tells her Claudine was there the night of the Rattrays and did nothing because everyone was waiting for her to use her effing power.
- Here’s a creative one: Bill may actually meet the true death at the hands of QSA, since he has nothing to lose, and then may somehow be resurrected because of Sookie’s blood. This ties in because of the walking on water scene (like Jesus) and the conversation that Sookie and Russell had about bringing Talbot back to life with Sookie’s blood. In addition, Alan Ball has mentioned that True Blood witches are necromancers and since vampires are dead, they have some kind of power over them.
- Bill kills the queen and has to face another tribunal. Forget Peru, Alan Ball is going to wrap him in silver chains and bury him for awhile.
- Mistaken vamp identity: Maxine Fortenbury heads over to the Compton house to end Jessica and kills QSA by mistake. Maybe Arlene should dye her hair as well; Maxine is on a redhead hunt.
Hmmm... Could be hard to tell through a rifle scope.
Of course, these are only a few of the theories we’ve uncovered. We would love to hear your thoughts, so please feel free to speculate until your fangs hurt.
Eric will be the one with Amnesia. Ball did say it months ago during a conference answering to a girl who asked him if Eric will be the one with Amnesia and he said Yes and said also that Eric will be BIG in season 4 as his character is in book 4.
You may not like it but he did say it.
Sookie will be with Claudine fo ra while who’s gonna teach her something about her but i don’t think Niall will meet her in the first parte of the season…btw Niall and Eric ha a connection so i don’t think he will be Bill, not after he stolen her light and Claudine didn’t trust him, not completely about who Sookie is. She is a kind of princess and this part will be explain when Niall will meet Eric.
The curse on the thrown hope is a joke.

super theories, loving the throne one ……… Great observation. To add to that I bet you it was a curse by Holly who used to work for a vamp that caused her the pain to join the survivor’s group.
The mistaken true death of QSA by the hands of Maxine – very very creative like that one and to add to it, Maxine gets so crazed with rage she gets a vamp to turn Summer (who may even volunteer) thinking she will be able to control Hoyt through little baby vamp summer – better than with that Jezabel Jessica.
I really think QSA will survive though to actually ‘kill’ Bill as get’s his attention diverted to protect Jessica – and like the other theories Sookie’s blood get’s put to the test.
But I would like to see QSA has got to turn Hadley at some point in my thoughts.
Jesus introduces Lafayette to his coven and it turns out Jesus’s coven is at odd’s with Holly’s, and like Bill’s intial reasoning for meeting Sookie, we will find that Jesus’s inital interest will be in finding out about Lafayette from his mother and that he works with Holly, his initial reasoning will be to get at Holly (mirroring Bill and Sookie’s relationship).

It’ s fun speculating. I don’t know if Eric will get amnesia, but is he does, it will not last long, as I think Eric will have a lot to do with Vampire politics, and I can’t see him having amnesia with that storyline. Also, Alcide will be busy with Sookie, so when will she have time to look after him?
I love the theory that Bill will be ressurrected by the necroromancers.
I think KRE may use them as well when he is released, but it may be too late for poor Talbot.
Sookie in book 4 did spend with Alcide and Eric.
LOL! Fun article TC! Goodness it’s so much fun guessing where this whole thing will go. I particularly like the mistaken redheaded vamp spec ’cause I’m not quite sure how VB will be able to take out QSA. A Fortenberry with anti-vamp ammunition could possible do it!
That’s a fun theory about Maxine mistaking QSA for Jessica and shooting her with the reverend’s vampire gun! I don’t see how she could mistake the ultra glam QSA for simple Jess, but it would be funny. I was imagining QSA somehow being thrown against that mirror and accidentally staked by a splinter which is less creative, but more practical, IMO.

These were great speculations. also considering in season 1 when we first saw eric he did kick a guy across the room while sitting in that thrown! lol. the hoyt thing is also a great one too! i would love to see those two together as vamps. lol. but would their connection be as strong? hmmmmm….i know this is bad but gooooood Gosh i hope maxine fortenbery meets the true death! lol i can’t stand her!
Well i just wonder how the witches are gonna play into the script now. maybe jesus is hallow’s brother???? hmmm. who knows. but amnesiac eric was great…but i for one love eric the way is . sooo a few episodes in season 4 with him liek that would be fine but that’s not our viking! lol.
all i know is it’s gonna be a great season! so far it’s my favorite book (of course being an eric fan) though i know alan ball will be sure to switch up a bit! i just wish it would come sooner!!!!!!

Oh, I LOVE the Maxine “offing” QSA theory. What a hoot that would be. Then I think Jessica should kill Maxine and accidentally turn HER into a vampire. Imagine the fun of having to deal with Hoyt’s mama. And Bill thought Jessica was hard to manage! Oy! I’d love to see Bill try to palm Maxine off on Eric for awhile. Now THAT would really be a curse for Eric. Of course, I can’t see Eric doing Bill any favors after his cement stunt. But wouldn’t Maxine be fun as the new bartender at Fangtasia?
Actually, if Jessica turned Maxine, then Maxine would be Jessica’s baby girl. Talk about turned tables. “As your Maker, I command you…” .
I also have been saying Hoyt has to be turned or else it’s one sad ending love story. Your scenario would be perfect, Maxine would have a big change of heart and be accepting, afterall her baby boy is a vamp too.

Of course what I hope to happen and what I think will happen based on clues is sometime really at odds. I have so many theories I’m playing with but since I gotta take my daughter to a fooosball game tonight (“remember when that man wanted you to play foooosball Bobbyy?” Sorry, can’t resist) I will be brief. Or as brief as I can ever manage.
It’s most fun to speculate about Bill right now because obviously he is younger by GSA by half and more obviously he’s not going anywhere in season 4 soooo…..
How suicidal is Bill, really? We’re led to believe he feel he has nothing left to lose anymore and that kind of thinking can go two ways – from being foolish/desperate to being very, very dangerous.
I personally think that since Bill chose the time and place for the showdown with the Queen that he has something more planned than just a stright on matrix-y fight. We know that age doesn’t necesarilly equal ‘win’ with vamps (as we’ve been shown with Pam V Bill, Bill v Russell and Russell V Eric)
Part of my speculation is that he either has some silver hidden somewhere, which I really don’t like since that would be soooo last season, but it’s the easiest. I wonder if Jessica will pop up and help him. I do not think Bill would do the papa-vamp ‘call’ but maybe she’s running home to tell Bill the great news about Hoyt. The speculation about Mrs. F is fun, but I’m not sure I wanna see QSA die just yet. (this is where my hope/reality get into a twist)
I can see the Queen going down, knowing she’s beaten and then trying to make a deal to save her own life. Maybe she offers to marry Bill? She’s a ‘widow’ now as far as she knows and she rules two states. Perhaps she pops off with a hail mary “I’ll give you Louisiana!” plea!
Bill has tipped his hand so chances are very slim Bill will get another opportunity to kill Eric or Pam, so perhpas Bill will consider the benefits of having political power since physically he’s at a dead end (har har)
And hooking up with a Queen is far more effective than, say, dating a skinny real estate agent. ;)

I really, really really never ever want to see a certain skinny fang-banging real estate in this show. That’s one character that does not have to make the transition from the books to tv.
Unfortunatly, I think Sook’s little “I’m a real estate agent and I’m really rich” fantasy was a foreshadowing of a certain person Bill dated in the books. TB Sook is much more volatile than BookSook ,so you already know she’s going to HATE Selah’s guts before she even opens her mouth. If she walks in wearing a $1000 suit and a $500 handbag, we’ll know it’s her. LOL!
Some really interesting theories and speculations Tincar and KF …..i also think that Hoyt may be destined to be the next baby vamp and that Jessica will do the deed . And i also think Bill has a cunning plan up his sleeve to dispose of QSA – as you say he did chose the meeting place so must have something in mind . But the theory of Bill being defeated and then resurrected by the necromancers / witches is also an intriguing .
I still think the amnesia story is going to be more short-lived than in the books inrrepective of who is involved and that Jesus may well be connected to Hallow and the coven .

Barry doesn’t show up again until the big Vamp convention, which I think is book 6. I’m presuming AB will have something different in mind, though he might do a vamp political convention, just not like in the book.

Sorry hon, it was book 7. Book 6 was when Sook went to NOLA to close out her cousin Hadley’s estate after she met the true death. Book 7 was when they went to Rhodes and Sook saw Barry again, cuz he was working for the King of TX.
I think Maxine behind the bar at Fangtasia would be hilarious, cuz watching her whip all those Goth kids,fangbanger wannabes, other vamps into line would be a hoot. Not to mention she was complaingin to Hoyt about everything she missed out on cuz of raising him. NOw she gets to spend eternity at an immortal party.
Can you imagine Pam having to deal with Maxine at Fangtasia.

I think Maxine as Fangtasia bartender would be good dream sequence, not sure I could take Maxine as a vamp for real. And I think Pam would not put up with her. Though watching them insult each other might be fun.

Love the theories. Maxine might just be the most plausable. Aslo like the Jesus/witch allignment. I was thinking with QSA possibly meeting the true death. Louisiana and Mississippi will be up for grabs. I wonder if the need to take Eric out of the picture is because he will be the oldest and most powerful vamp in the two-state area. I see the witches erasing his memory because killing him would eliminate a huge money stream with the bar and god knows what other business dealings he has under his thumb. I see Sookie hanging around in Fairy Land (also known as…Summer’s Eve commercial) and going through a “boot camp” for fairies of sorts. I think Claudine will explain to her how she became fae, when she had the “magic water” before and how her parents actually died. I see Andy Bellefleur giving “V” a try and getting that darn cast off his arm.
Love the ‘bootcamp for faeries” idea, Lydia! I hope that the irritating ninny Sook goes to Fairyland, and a wiser, smarter, wittier Sook who loathes sundresses comes back. You may well be right about the Jesus/witches/ Eric alignment. Please don’t take it personally when I say I hope you’re mistaken. The notion that Vamps are subject to the whims of the pentagrams-and-potions crowd is depressing.
I agree. Pam would most likely send Maxine to the big Fade if she actually had to work with her for more than two seconds at Fangtasia but wouldn’t it be great to see Maxine in a dream sequence as the bartender at Fangtasia? Maybe Hoyt could dream about this in a nightmare? Can you see Maxine in a black leather get-up? Oh boy, and I’ve no doubt that she could knock some heads together if any of the townies got out of line at the bar.
Think I’m going to be jumping on the mind-altered Eric storyline, as there has been much evidence this will happen.
We have Eric’s daydream in which Sookie tells him she’s smelling your memories’ (it was a stupid line but was there a neon light flashing that said foreshadowing or what?)
If the show follows the book twist the curse will involve the cursed person being close to their hearts desire without knowing it. Eric is alone now that Godric is gone, no one else is around that knew him when he was human and he seems desperate to be able to connect with someone on this level.
Plus the finale stuff with Godric. I know many disgaree with this, but I do not think when Eric said ‘This is what you made!’ he was saying ‘This is what you made me’ rather I think he was stating the person that was standing there, tossing RE into cement to extend his pain and grief, was the person Eric had always been, and Godric had chosen to turn that person into a vampire. I don’t believe it was an accusation but rather an affirmation by Eric of who he believed he was.
So what *is* Eric? Who would he really be if he had no responsibility, no sense of self, no title or posessions? These are timeless questions that never get old (at least for me) and the storyline works far better with Eric than with anyone else. The more we have, the more we stand to lose, the greater the fall….and so on and so forth cliche cliche.
As to the how of it, I’m not sure I’m entirely on board with Jesus being the one to set up the curse. I think it will be more personal than just Jesus wanting to try to help LaLa or what not. I do think it would be funny if Yvetta hired someone to do it, maybe paying the person with some of the cash she stole from Fangtasia. I’d LOL at that.
I’ve always hoped that Eric would end up under Bill’s ‘protection’ if the curse thing happened, but now that seems unlikely. He’ll have to be hidden, as Pam said earlier in the season, a human home would be safest. And now since Bill has made it known he’s trying to off Eric, it will have to be in the house of a human that can’t be glamoured, either.
I’m wondering what will happen in Summer’s Eve Land for Sookie that she’d allow Eric, even an amnesic one, back into her house.
I’m still hoping that maybe when she’s working nights he’ll do a little house cleaning for her.

The ‘what if’ port of your theory sounds solid, and because it’s such a tempting avenue for the writers to explore, it makes me apprehensive. Eric cast in a different light, unraveled, unpeeled, under the microscope. may ‘unmake’ him as he originally was made for us. I love the glints and hints of what lies beneath, the ambiguities of the character, but if Eric is really dissected, it will be a case of killing the cat to find the purr.

Here’s a twist to turn your theory, loving mind into coil of perplexed delight. What if it is Sookie? She “accidentally” has a curse put on Eric and Bill. Maybe Holly, who becomes enchanted by Sookie as well, seems compelled to help curse Eric and Bill. She finds out about Sookie’s powers and for the good of all that is holy, after hearing Sookie wish the vampires never knew about her, wants to help.
Sookie would then have to face evil without her protecting vamps. We all know we haven’t seen the end of Debbie. What else might lurk out there for her?
What if it’s the Fae who glam Sookie into forgetting the vamps? They also have the power to glamour, and in the short story Gift Wrap she was glammed by a Fae.
Do we think Tara could be running off to brush up on her own abilities? I think AB said Tara will end up being at an unlikely place.
I kinds would like to see Jesus stay in the realm of white magic, but LaLa did see him with a monster mask. Lala was almost able to see hidden things. So perhaps Jesus has a dark streak and wouldn’t be against using a harmful spell.

Now this is a twist! What if Tara ends up at Fangtasia and helps Eric with his amnesia? She hates Vamps! Too far fetched, I think! Maybe Tara will join Rev. Newlyn?
Oh, I like this one a lot, the idea that Sookie may have inadvertently started a chain reaction. I so enjoy it when characters create their own problems either by words or deeds and then have to scramble to fix it.
(One of the reasons I am really, really hoping the Hoyt/Mrs. F accidental shooting will happen)

Witches, spells, curses. If that’s the direction of S$, then the series will be irretrievably dumbed down. What happened to the premise of the show? It’s too easy, too lacking in imagination, to alter the course of events by incantation. Is this what happens in the books? :blerg: Sex and nudity do not a truly adult show make. Only IMO, of course.

Book 4 introduced it all, complete with curses, spells and whatnot.
I am in complete agreement that if we get one group being able to wave a wand and change the course of events it will not work. There will need to be a balance there, a cost to the power.
I’ve only watched that v-trip scene with Jesus a few times but I’m betting there are clues tucked away in there that were simply off my radar. I’d love to hear theories on that!
