Song Inspiration: “And When I Die” – Lyrics by Laura Nyro – Performed by The Heavy
And when I die and when I’m dead, dead and gone,
there’ll be one child born and a world to carry on, to carry on.
I’m not scared of dying and I don’t really care.
If it’s peace you find in dying, well, then let the time be near.
If it’s peace you find in dying, when dying time is here,
just bundle up my coffin cause it’s cold way down there,
I hear that’s it’s cold way down there, yeah, crazy cold way down there.
And when I die and when I’m gone,
there’ll be one child born and a world to carry on, to carry on.
My troubles are many, they’re as deep as a well.
I can swear there ain’t no heaven but I pray there ain’t no hell.
Swear there ain’t no heaven and pray there ain’t no hell,
but I’ll never know by living, only my dying will tell,
only my dying will tell, yeah, only my dying will tell.
And when I die and when I’m gone,
there’ll be one child born and a world to carry on, to carry on.
Give me my freedom for as long as I be. All I ask of living is to have no chains on me.
All I ask of living is to have no chains on me,
and all I ask of dying is to go naturally, only want to go naturally.
Don’t want to go by the devil, don’t want to go by the demon,
don’t want to go by Satan, don’t want to die uneasy, just let me go naturally.
And when I die and when I’m gone, there’ll be one child born, there’ll be one child born.
When I die, there’ll be one child born. When I die, there’ll be one child born.
When I die, there’ll be one child born. When I die, there’ll be one child born.

I’m seriously starting to believe that this might just be the series finale of True Blood. I might be wrong, but I have a strong feeling about this.
You are absolutely wrong, True blood has been renewed for a 5th season. Sorry!!!
I’m thinking it may be too with the special thirteen episodes and i understand that the actors wanna branch out and do other projects.
I think in an interview, Alan Ball mentioned that he doesn’t plan on going past 5 or 6 seasons.
Alan Ball is currently in negotiations with HBO for season 5, he said he may give the reigns to someone else after season 5 because he may have had enough by then. True Blood will be around for at least 6 seasons, is my bet.
It isn’t the final season. They let you know that it will be the series finale from the start of it, it increases ratings. The only exception to this is when ratings are so low the show is cancelled, True Blood does not have the problem of low ratings.
Says there looking to cast someone to play a character ‘Patrick’ to have a 7 episode arc in the next season of 13 episodes!!! So no, this clearly isn’t going to be the last season, they won’t plan for season 5 unless they know it is going ahead. The writers obviously want season 5, and ratings are still going strong so HBO are bound to want to pump some more true blood!!!
Hard to believe that they can only manage 5 seasons out of so many books. That bites ( pardon the pun). with all the books TB could go on for many seasons. Oh well, glad they are using some old songs redone, they sound great. Spirit in the sky…hint hint.
I do hope they will go at least 7 sesons as do most of these shows i.e. Entourage etc the only one who went longer I beileve the Sopranos – but I feel it is so interesting and it is a shame that Alan Ball loses interest in projects and does not see it to the end i.e. season 7 – it reminds me so much of stars that leave shows that are going so well and then they just disappear i.e. whomever played Monk – never hear his name mentioned – many many more who leave and go nowhere – so again maybe John Waters should take the reigns (I believe that is his name) and he has done some great things – love true blood but again miss Sookie and Bill
this is so not the last season. alan ball said there was a 5th season
I think Tara, Tommy, & Debbie will be killed off and RE may be coming back next season.
I think you’re right about RE… He immediately came to mind!
Do sookie and eric stay together?
In the books, when Eric gets his memory back, he forgets about the time he spent with Sookie. A while later Eric remembers the time he spent with Sookie and tries to regain the love. My guess is she won’t end up with Eric or Bill.
Yeah, there’s a fifth season. I can see the end of season four killing off Debbie and Sam’s brother. the FAMILIAR FACE in season five, from what has already been stated elsewhere, is RUSSEL, who else? BUt you know, up until now each season matched each of the first four books. The fifth book was about Sookie going to New Orleans to help Sophie Ann find a braclet that Hadley had stolen. (Hadley is a vampire in the books. Then, she meets the final death, right before Sophie is to get married.) I would guess that the faries might be more important in season five, but since Alan Ball stopped even remotely followng the books by this time, that’s anybody’s guess. IF you read all the books, it turns out that Sookie is married to Eric for 3 books or so. Its a symbolic marriage at first, to save her from being used by vampires for her talent, but later, she does love him. SHE never loved Bill again, in the books, except friendly. I suspect from an interview by Moyer, that season five is the last season. Too bad, really.
I love True Blood and I can’t say I have read the books. But from an interview with Comic Con Alan Ball states that he hopes True Blood will stay on so long he will have to come up with a reason the vampires are aging. So there maybe lots more seasons than 5
I dont think Alan Ball make two more season of True Blood … it’s a hunch … and there are only two books for the Sookie Stackhouse novel by CH ends … which is so sad!!!!! buuuuuuu what im going to see!!!!!!!!!!! (lol)
im sorry, what i meant is that i think he is going to end true blood with season 7…. just a feeling!
HBO press release:
HBO has renewed the hit show TRUE BLOOD for a 12-episode fifth season, it was announced today by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. Created by Alan Ball, the series will begin production of new episodes later this year in Los Angeles, with debut set for summer 2012.
“I am thrilled that TRUE BLOOD continues to enjoy a phenomenal reception from both subscribers and critics,” noted Lombardo. “Alan Ball and his gifted team have devised the greatest thrill ride on TV.”
“I remain amazed and delighted by the enthusiasm of our viewers,” says Ball. “I can’t imagine having more fun than this.”
Mixing romance, suspense, mystery and humor, the Emmy®-nominated show takes place at a time when vampires have come out of the coffin, and follows the on-and-off romance between waitress and part-faerie Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), who can hear people’s thoughts, and 173-year-old vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer). Series creator Alan Ball (creator of the Emmy®-winning HBO series “Six Feet Under”) is also an executive producer of the show, which is based on the bestselling Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris.
They have signed for 12 episodes… the 13th is probably a “to be continued” episode. They can’t end the books on season 5 it would not embrace the essence of the books which based on Charlaine Harris’s blog her approval to have trueblood based on her novels was that they stay true to the books main plot. So Sookie and Eric will stay together or get back together before the end.
My guess is that Charlaine has only a few more story lines for her books she’s already indicated that she knows how the sookie stackhouse novels end… My guess is given that books 7-8 were not that great story line wise nore was book 10-11 give that some of the major storylines and “discoveries” have already been developed into the show.. I speculate that some books may be skipped and I beleive that when Charlaine ends the series.. fhe following year will be the final season… I’m saying 7-8th season. 10 would be great though
I’m wondering if Bill or Eric will die in this seasons finale. I heard that Sookie has to choose one of those 2 and I think it’s possible that one has to die because of her choice. Stephen Moyer said that Alan is no person who wants to see people be happy so that could mean that one won’t survive the witch battle.
I Don’t Think Alan Ball Will Kill Off Either Bill Or Eric…..Especially Since there Will Be Another Season. PLUS…….Everyone Watches 4 Bill, Eric, & Sookie…..I Think Unhappiness May Be A Continued Love Triangle.
But now I have a bad feeling that Erics and Bills near death on the fire will be a cliffhanger for the 5th season. That would be horrible!!!
The song “And when I die” was originally recorded by Blood Sweat and Tears. Fantastic version
i think that true blood would stay around until the sixth season but considering they are about fed up with this they might join seperate activities….
it’s maryann
Or maybe Rene’s return (because of Arlenes scared face).
if you dont remember alan balls first hit show six feet under, it had one of if not the best last 3 episodes and series finale of any show ever, and eh doent care about tying things up in a nice cute happy bow, i expect the same with this show, alot of people will not make it to the end, everyone will not be happy in the end
Renee is back , he scares the heck out of Arleen outside Merlottes. That is the familiar face. I think there will be more seasons after this.
season 7/8 it will be around for. no longer.
