Alan Ball and the cast at the Comic Con Panel- source: http://twitpic.com/280ray
The panel is over! Here are some of the highlights of the question and answer session that followed the screening of the Season 3 trailer. Follow the link below to read a full set of fan notes on the discussion:
- The panel started off with Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer bringing out a cutout of Alexander Skarsgard. The fans went nuts.
- Question about Sookie and Bill’s relationship according to the book: Alan Ball says you have to keep watching, but he believes Bill and Sookie are soul mates. “I personally root for things to work out between them.”
- Charlaine says that the world of the books is different and things between Sookie and Bill might end up differently.
- Anna Paquin with her great sense of humor responds to a question about which is harder, doing scenes of sex scenes or violent ones. “Well, we get to fake the violence.” She then adds, “I prefer to get naked earlier in the day and kill people later in the day.” Moyer jokingly adds Ryan Kwanten is a physical freak and the only one that eats on the days they film the sex scenes.
- Alan talks about season 4 and the books. “There’s a character who doesn’t really know who he or she is and becomes kind of a different person from who we’ve gotten to know.” Who do you think this is?
- Kristin Bauer was asked how it was working with animals on set, “Skarsgard isn’t so bad once you get used to him.”
- Alan Ball was asked if Tara will ever get a break? “There will be a brief break for her toward the end of this season. It won’t last.” Rutina Wesley calls her role “a hell of a journey” and adds to the answer by saying, “if she were stable, it wouldn’t be any fun.”
- How long will Bill’s darkness last? Moyer responds, “There’s still more to come.” Moyer calls Bill’s new darkness “delicious.”
- Asking about Sookie’s “microwave fingers” returning. We’re going to find out what they are as the season continues.
- Anna does her impression of Bill (Stephen Moyer) by saying “SOOKIE!”

thanks for this zz
alex cut out!! halarious!
bill and sookie soul mates, and have genuine love YAY!!!
the person that doesnt know who they are, and becomes different to how we know them? I think its jesus..aparantly he’s also been bumped up to regular next season.
CH saying things will end up differently for bill and sookie in the books…i think is a good thing because we wouldnt want the books and the show to be the same, different interpretations of their love is interesting and a good thing!
i wish alex and ryan were there, more eye candy the better :( oh well! @ least alex/eric was there in spirit!!!
is it me or is this years comicon panel nowhere near as interesting?
still love the AB admittance to rooting for bill/sookie love :)
i take jesus back! lol im stumped to know who they mean. That particular issue AB said,
“There’s a character who doesn’t know who he or she is, and maybe someone who has hated this person doesn’t hate them so much anymore.”
Does he mean sookie and lorena? ahh I duno, I give up! lol
AB also said, next season every1 goes to therapy, and gets very happy…Whatever that means? and he says hallow is a big part of season 4.
Some fans asked AB would he consider making Erics maker in the books ‘Appius’, Godrics maker in the show. AB said he wouldnt discount it as long as it fits in well with the show and has to make sense!
I also take back that this years comicon panel was isnt interesting! From what I’ve read about what was discussed it was hell interesting!!!!
Cant wait for the rest of the season and season 4 :)
Hey Jay.. “the person that doesnt know who they are, and becomes different to how we know them? ”
I think if you have read book 4 you know who it is…Amnesia… :O
In the books it was Eric that got anmesia. I thought maybe Bill, for a change. Now it is either male or female and was hated! I just can’t make sense with that sentence – who hated this person? Does Sookie hate Eric?? She sure does not hate Bill. Lorena is a possibility and so is Debbie Pelt (do these 2 get zapped??). This is all tooo much!!
Loved that AB said that Bil and Sookie are soul mates and that their love is genuine (has said this on other interviews). I want Bill and Sookie to be together, desperately!
maybe this person that alan ball is talking about may have nothing to do with the amnesia thing from the books? maybe its another character arc?
soo hard to speculate with this show, they definately know how to confuse their fans and keep them guessing!!!
I’m betting Sookie will be hating Eric this season for some reason. Then she will change her mind in Season 4.
Great stuff, fascinating tidbits, and yeasty speculation here prompted by the panel. ZZ and Tincar, and all who are adding pix below, a huge thank you.
This is our Call of Duty ;) and we enjoy it!
I don’t think it’s Jesus….I think it’s Eric. I’m glad Alan Ball said that about Bill/Sookie again. In the books, I think things will end good between Bill/Sookie and I do think they’ll be intimate again but I don’t think they’ll get back together. I think it’s going to be Sam in the books. Sorry, but just as long as it’s not Eric. On the show, Bill/Sookie have a really good chance but I don’t think so in the books.
Yeah I’m sure Alan loves Bill and wants those two together… In the Books? I also think it will be Sam or Sookie will finally decide to stay alone.
Really? I don’t think it’s Sam and really hope not lol. I think when CH said recently that Sookie will not have kids and not have a white picket fence life, that eliminated Sam, well at least in my mind it did. If she were with Sam then I would picture her and Sam wanting kids and having more of that white picket fence life.
Since AB said he is doing AE, then I think this is what he is talking about. The hating thing I just think he means Sookie. If he hadn’t confirmed the AE thing then I’d say might be something else, unless someone else also doesn’t remember who they are lol.
Many thanks and big hugs for posting this ZZ and thanks and hugs to all who have been posting fab pics and reports – it made me feel as if i was actually at Comic Con instead of being thousands of miles away .
My favourite part of any of the conventions i have been to is the Q&A sessions and this one definitely didn’t disappoint – fascinating to how enthsuiastic the whole cast are about the show and loved Stephen’s description of the “twisted” scene.
As for the cryptic clue about someone who isn’t who they think they are in season 4 – yes my money’s on Eric too .
Oh jeez, I hope we don’t get an Eric-who’s-not Eric-next year. I loathe amnesia arcs in TV series. Characters out of character, and the audience waiting for the Eureka! moment when the penny finally drops. . Dull, dull, dull, trite, trite, trite. I suppose the actor in question has a good time, showing off new colours, but the Viking as a fluffy bunny sweetie.:blurg:
I totally and utterly agree. Mildly amusing in book, totally lame on screen, even in the skilled hands of the AB crew. Might have to sit that season out if there’s not some other interesting shit going on.
Too bad James Frain was missing from the panel. IMO the best new actor this season.
Yeah, I was sorry not to be see him on stage, too. Other commitments, an aversion to cons, or possibly he wasn’t included because his (brilliant) character is short-lived on the series. The panel was composed of series regulars.
With the very notable exception of Denis O’Hare. Crawling out onto the slender speculation limb, I’m wondering if it turns out that KRE does not meet an absolutely final sticky sun-or-stake end in S3. Maybe AB has preserved him in cement and silver or something, for possible revival at some future date.
Yeah, I remember reading an AB interview where he said this season’s “Big Bad” was not going to go away as easily as last season’s Mary Anne. I had the impression that while Russell would be dealt with, he wouldn’t exactly be “gone”. Hopefully, like the Newlins he will leave Bon Temps but live to fight another day.
The second last question asked (to Mr Moyer) was from my pal on TBnet – Isis! Good on her for asking a great question and getting a long response back from Steve!
I don’t know how I am going to handle Eric in S4. Lots of ff, I guess, as I would still like to see the others, especiall Bill.
Wasn’t Steve naughty with the twisted sex answer where he said he had to take the dummy home and play with it! Love the way Anna looked at him during his responses. One article I read said that she had looked lovingly at him after he responded to a question, but it was hard to chose which one!
They were all great!
thanks so much for this juice bit of reporting ZZ! loved it! its amazing how funny and relaxed all the cast members are. Darn it they must really feel like thinks don’t get any better than working for a hot tv show, produced by a super talented guy, in the company of a bunch of great professionals who just also happen to be amazing people.
Thanks for recording and sharing this with us.
