Edward Twilight Doll
I was shopping at Toys-R-Us the other day and as I rounded a corner – I froze and stared at the mass produced Twilight merchandise.
My team “True Blood” spirit kicked in and I found myself wanting to bare fangs I didn’t have and hiss at the dolls. As I stood and stared, my eyes raked over them. Do I touch one? Will anyone I know see me touch it?
After looking around, I reached down to pick up Edward - only to quickly withdraw my hand. I was only inches from the box and already I felt like I was cheating on Bill.
I backed away and began to pout like I child. Damn! I want a Bill doll! I felt ripped, cheated by the merchandise Gods. I wanted to call Mattel and have a word with them. I know Twilight is geared more toward teens, but come on. I want my Bill Compton doll! The fan memorabilia collectors of this world want MORE!
Now, I know what you’re saying, Twilight is a movie and True Blood is a TV show – this doesn’t matter. As I strolled around the stores, somehow my eyes had become trained, aware of dolls I had never seen before. TV dolls began to show themselves – after the Family Guy doll I felt defeated and had to leave. I was now somewhat perturbed, saddened by the lack of merchandise to honor my beloved True Blood characters. I thought about how many viewers True Blood has – why don’t they rate a merchandise line?
Now it had become a conspiracy - as soon as I arrived home I fired up my PC and began the search, I needed something to soothe me, something to tell me True Blood had not been cheated – again. But, what I found made me sink deeper into the dark realm of the merchandising world. The X-Files have a matching Mulder and Scully set, yet we do not have a Bill and Sookie. Mr. T has his own doll, Star Trek, Stargate and I personally have a Will Smith doll (collector…still mint in the box).
So maybe it’s because True Blood gets naughty and bloody – sometimes at the same time? Nope…I found an entire line of horror movie dolls and goth dolls that are actually kind of cool. It also seems that some fans of the genre are so desperate for their own vampire Barbies, they have taken matters into their own hands and are lurking on Ebay – don’t take my word for it, google vampire barbie dolls and may the force be with you.
So I ask…where is my Bill Compton doll with the kung-fu grip? I am sure the Alex fans would love to have their Viking in a black leather jacket with a Fangtasia chair adorned in red velour. Where is our merchandise? The devoted fans of True Blood want to know! I was naughty this year and I deserve a graveyard Bill doll. Are we pushing it to ask for them to be anatomically correct? I mean…there has been a lot of sock focus this year so – why not?

I totally agree. Why do you have to be a teenager to have your favorite character dolls. I would love to start a collection of True Blood dolls. Especially Bill and Sookie.
I totally agree, I am so sick of seeing all the Twilight merchandise, memorabilia, and no True Blood anything. I want me a Bill doll with retractable fangs, and maybe some recordings of Bills most memorable lines, the would be very cool. I would also start collecting True Blood dolls also.

I agree 100% !!!. I would buy everything in the collection if someone made them. I”m always going to Fan Expos and checking out collectible sites online like Neca and Sideshow toys waiting to be surprised that a True Blood line has been created but to no avail. Hopefully they will change their minds very soon when they see the success of the show and the devoted fanbase. Entertainment Earth actually has 3 new Busts coming out in August of Eric, Bill and Sookie. thats all i have found. hopefully more to come. check it out

I agree. I want a Bill and Sookie graveyard doll with dirt in all the crevices…..retractable fangs, holes in Sookie’s neck, little bottles of Tru:Blood and the Sookie doll should say “Do It”.
With a spring mechanism so when he says “what do you want, Sookie” and she says “I want you every which way” he jumps her. Oh and there should be a menu – for I thought you were dead sex press 1, for makeup sex press 2. Velcro on Bill’s wrist with refillable blood in case Sookie needs to be healed.
Accessories include Henley’s in every color……OMG it’s endless.

Bill doll in jeans, boots and leather jack outfit he wore to see the Queen is a MOST, please. Maybe with a button on the back that plays the music that was used while he walked down the path into the queens “castle.”

If anyone feels up to it, and maybe I will in the near future, Volks makes a line of dolls meant to be customized. I have a few “blanks”, so I might be able to make some prototypes… Unless someone else is up to it. ^_^
You should give it a try. I’d love to see what you can come up with. I have no skills in this area at all.

We could get a Bill doll with a pull string on the back tht says ‘Soooookieeeee;, maybe an Eric doll that can fly via remote, and you KNOW someone could make some Sam transformer toy in which he can turn into other stuff!

Bought a True Blood calendar yesterday at Frye’s and the check out guy kept trying to sell me Twilight stuff….What? I told him I don’t like my vampires sparkly as I put my debit card up and walked away.

YES! I’m with you. I have been googling True Blood dolls regularly when I come across this article. I KNEW I wasn’t the only one that NEEDED a set! :)
I need true blood dolls i set up my old dollhouse in a true blood theme the vampire hotel and merlotte’s.
OMG yes please. Although I have to say if they do this, they need to do at least ones of Lafayette, Jason, Sam with his dog form, Jessica, Hoyt, Pam and Eric. Obviously I know they need Bill and Sookie I mean yeah ok duh. But what about our other favorites listed above. I would be set for life if they’d just sell like sets of some of them. Like for example, Pam and Eric in a set with the fangtasia background going behind them, or Jessica and Hoyt at merlottes, and this could go on forever really. But I have to say I’d get the whole set if they sold them individually too. For god’s sake you can find Charmed dolls, Buffy dolls, Twilight obviously because well yeah it’s the current obsession of teeny boppers, I must admit I went through a phase of it before I got into true blood, but true blood was kind of contrabanded from high school sorry just is. or it was when I was there. but really get with the program we have dolls for everything under the sun from disney to twilight to POTC to LOTRs and so on I mean you can even find Phantom of the Opera dolls if you know where to look why not True blood.
