Eric Northman’s father, Ulfrick, has been cast and it’s not Alexander Skarsgard’s dad. It’s gonna be………..Hans Tester. He’ll make his debut in episode 5 “Trouble”. Below is the casting call description:
[ULFRICK]In his 40s to 50s.. warm, a battle-scarred Swedish Viking king, he is Eric’s (Alex Skarsgård) father, seen in a flashback to 900 A.D. Though they have a good relationship, there is some tension between father and son, because Ulfrick wants Eric to learn responsibility and behave in a manner befitting royalty…GUEST STAR

I didn’t think this guy fit the part at first, but the more I look at him, he works. Probably better then Alex’s real dad.
I love Stellan Skarsgard so I’m disappointed he didn’t get cast as Eric’s dad but it makes sense to cast someone else if Ulfrick is supposed to be stuck in his 40′s. Looking forward to the new season!
Yes, Stellan would have been too old, I guess. This guy will be OK, as AB knows what he is doing.
Stellan is never too old.
While I was rooting for Stellan also, I can see Hans Tester fitting the part well. Don’t forget, by the time he’s in costume, hair done a certain way, perhaps some dirt smudges here and there … he’ll look the part.
Geesh, is it June YET???? Not that I’m rushing my birthday or anything (37 as of June 9th) … but I want some True Blood! =)
This guy played a very icky role on Nip Tuck this season, I have to wash my brain to forget.
it will work, with a majestic wig and beard and an animal skin, haha.
Am I the only one looking forward to the flashback scenes?! :)
Looking forward to learning more about Eric’s human life before he was turned by Godric.
Maybe we get to see Bill in his Cival War uniform, and learn more about his human life too.
ur not alone im lookn 4ward 2 all the flash backs also
Yes, I will also enjoy all flashback scenes.
