We all know that the True Blood cast is involved with several charities. A couple of days ago in Beverly Hills, Rutina Wesley, Kristin Bauer, Michelle Forbes, Mariana Klaveno, Tara Buck and Patrick Gallagher spent time at the “Bow Wow Beverly Hills” event which benefited the Amanda Foundation, (a non-prof animal rescue foundation in Los Angeles). The Amanda foundation rescues many animals from the LA pound, many during their last days.

If you’re like me and have rescued several animals from the pound (and yes, from LA pounds) you’ll understand what these folks have to go through. Whilst rescuing several animals, there is always the knowledge that you are leaving others behind…to die. I sincerely am in awe of the folks working in this capacity because they are seriously dealing with decisions of life and death every day – and it’s in their hands. The Amanda Foundation does their damndest to save as many animals as they can. And I love it that our True Blood friends are helping with this.
We can’t save all of them – but we can make a difference; through events like this, education with spay/neuter programs and most basically, by donating.

I am glad to see this post. It makes me so happy when people come together like this to help benefit those who can’t speak for themselves. I deal with the animal shelter everyday and to have others volunteer their time is an amazing thing! Keep uo the good work. ;]
I am the President for The Amanda Foundation and want to thank you for your coverage of our “True Blood Hounds’ event.
Sam Trammel had meant to attend but ended up being back East on Thursday so we joked that
he had “shifted” into his dog self because “Maryann” was there and he wanted to be sure he could
make a quick gettaway! ( The beaufitul English Collie is the photo is “Duffy” who plays Sam on the show) “True Blood Hounds” was a huge success and kicked off three days of dog adoptions in some of the most posh stores in Beverly Hills. We are very grateful to all the castmembers who participated in making our event, they were all so gracious and truly cared about our oprhaned doggies. Their star power was evident and many True Blood fans helped make this a HOWLing success!”
Sincerely,
Teri
Hi Teri, that is hysterical about Sam/Duffy! I am so glad the event was a success for your organization. Thank you for your dedication to this cause; it’s one that’s very close to my heart and I respect every person on the planet who takes time out of their lives to care about our fellow creatures and make sure some of them have a chance at better lives. So thank you Teri for all that you do!
Love this, fantastic cause! And I’m incredibly pleased to read that the event was such a sucess, and it’s wonderful to see so many True Blood cast members donating their time.
I truly believe we all have a responsibiluty to be caretakers for these wonderful creatures. And I wholeheartedly support spay/neuter programs! There is nothing that is more upsetting than to see a dog dying from pyometra because the owners didn’t have her spayed because they thought having a litter of puppies would be ‘fun.! Or the male dog that comes up with prostrate cancer because his owner didn’t neuter him because he wanted his dog to look and/or act tough.
Not to mention all intact dogs that get out of their yards to follow their instincts and end up hit by cars, or picked up by animal control. (like the sweet little intact beagle at the clininc where I work that is, at this very moment, barely hanging on after being hit when he bolted into the street after an intact female!)
Thanks to you and your organization, Teri!
Thanks Teri for sharing with us! I would have loved to be there.
