Tincar ~ "Will this fit in my purse?"

How long can you sit at home knowing there is a True Blood event in your town at midnight? The answer for me was 7 p.m. I couldn’t take it any longer. I needed to be anywhere near a True Blood sign, fan or just in the parking lot of the event. Addiction does have its price.

My BFF and I arrived early and immediately I staked out a very large cardboard bottle of Tru:Blood with Bill’s pic on it. I soon found out I wasn’t the only one wanting it for my collection. I tried to bribe the theater manager but it didn’t work. Sadly, the HBO people moved it quickly. They were onto us.

Our Sheriff is on left @Mone_Chari

My Sheriff, @Mone_Chari, rounded up the vamps before the show and went for some cocktails beforehand then joined us at 10 p.m. There was a good turnout and I thought the HBO people would be revving up the crowed and having a good time but that didn’t happen; I think they were there just to check us in and get us out. But never fear, True Blood fans are here and we made our own fun. My Twitter capabilities failed and I was cursing everyone with an iPhone, mainly because I don’t have one. I met another fan, @ThatMonsterEm, who came to my rescue and began tweeting her fingers off. Thanks Emily!!! Not many people dressed up. There were a couple Goth people and two Sookies.

Sookies!

Myself and two other fans were contemplating taking down the Twilight poster because really, it didn’t need to be around our True Blood stuff… hehe. Again, our plans were foiled. The fans ROCK! You can’t find a better fandom than True Blood fans. We made our own fun (once again).

"I know that pig!"

My BFF got a lot of attention in her “I know that pig!” shirt. Finally, we got in. VIPs were sent to one line and non-VIPs to another line. I thought this may mean something in the end, the VIP thing, but it didn’t. I heard in some areas, the VIPs received different swag, but in mine, everyone got the same thing.

Although we lost signal a couple times we got to see the bulk of everything. Let me just say this … OMG! True Blood on the big screen was an experience to make a Truebie’s heart flutter. To see the reaction of the other fans inside the theater was entertaining and fun. It was a big happy family full of Truebies watching something we all loved. It was quite a moment. Thank you HBO!

The Truebies

Here are some takeaways from the Q&A: If you are an Ultimate Truebie, you were probably rolling your eyes at the repetitive questions asked. Nevertheless, the wonderful cast being who they are, gave us some tidbits that were fresh.

Stephen Moyer gave us an inside look at Ryan Kwanten’s inner prankster. For such a quiet guy, Ryan likes to play some serious pranks that involve placing a mini transportation vehicle that belongs to one of the production crew members inside the elevator. No worries though, he got Ryan back by filling his car full of those little Styrofoam beads used for packing. Apparently there is video and Alan joked we may see it on the Season 3 DVD.

Anna Paquin looked poised and beautiful as usual. When the cast was asked who the best suitor for Sookie was, her reply was Pam. We love you Anna!

Deborah Ann Woll talked about her love for her role. Since she is the only character who is not in the books, she gets a little more freedom to expand upon her character. She loves that her character shows the struggles of a baby vamp.

Alex Skarsgård, joked about almost being the one to say “Suckeh” since he auditioned for the part of Bill first. His most intense scene is yet to come.

Overall, the cast was incredible. They are one big happy family, which unites the fans. We love them all. Oh yea, and my swag included two bottles of Tru:Blood, a coupon for the HBO store, miniature posters for the new season and Club Dead. HBO also gave out cast posters.  This was an awesome good time. Thanks to all my Royal Palm Beach, Fl Truebies!

Maybe next time the ultimate fan prize will be asking the questions to the cast because, the fans would have rocked it!

I agree TC, the fans would have rocked the questions. And honestly, you should have grabbed Bill’s bottle and high tailed it outta there, it would’ve been worth missing the event. If they ever have a blow up Bill don’t think twice.

Great report Tincar and glad you had a fab time . Have seen videos of Q&A and agree that the fans would have made a better job of asking the questions . It’s the first time i have seen Michael Auseilio (?) and have to say i expected much more from him !

    • Aemac says:

Ausellio has such a man crush on Alex it’s amazing he could even talked. It’s surprises me HBO gives him their spoilers too, he must have family in the studio.

HBO let me have that Bill cutout for being sheriff. As far as I know, I was the only sheriff who got anything at all. I hope if they do this again that the sheriffs will play a bigger role. I spent a lot of time organizing everyone.

That being said, the best part of the whole night was meeting everyone. True Blood has some of the beat fans around!!

I’m pea-green with envy! I thought the sheriff’s should’ve served as MC’s for the event, got the crowd excited, etc. It was kinda weird just being in the theater with all these very quiet people. I was hoping for a more RHPC sorta vibe.

      Great report, TC!

NH…I was on the same level and thought the Sheriff would’ve done that as well. When HBO started calling all sheriff’s to check in, ours tried and the HBO reps had no idea what she was talking about. It was kind of funny only because of the looks on their face of utter confusion. They thought they had a wacko on their hands. I feel bad for our Sheriff though. She did a great job.

        • NotHoney says:

That happened to our sheriff, too. I think the staff were just day laborers and didn’t really know anything about True Blood, they were just doin’ a job.

          • Stacie says:

I thought they meant just to tweet their account so they’d know they were there. Not to actually check in anywhere. But I wasn’t an sheriff so not sure what instructions they got outside of what I saw on Twitter.

        • ReallyAlly says:

They all knew who I was at the Chicago event, but all they told me to do was come find them at the end and I could have a poster (which turned out to be the bill cutout).

Thank you tincar for sharing your experience with us. It looked like lots of fun! I would have taken that bill bottle and run for my life!

  5. konfettii says:

ROFL! They had to move the display :P Shady looking fans, too funny! I’m glad the Floridians had a good time, and very cool you snagged a VIP pass in such a loaded area. *high five*
I totally agree about the questions, it was like deja vu, the Q&A. You took some really, really good pictures. Mine were all dark *pout*

  6. billsbaby says:

Thanks for the lovely report, TC!! Sounds like you had a great time and I’m with the other ladies, I would have grabbed that Bill cutout and “cutout” of there at vampire speed!! :-P

I really enjoyed the Q&A session last night, but I wish it had been fans asking the questions instead of Ausiello.

  7. gattopardo says:

thanks for the report and congratulations on the site. I’ve been an avid reader since I discovered it (only last month, for shame!)
I don’t live in the US and don’t have HBO so I’m raking my brains for a way of watching season 3 as soon as it starts over there. Sigh. Trying not to give in to envy of all the truebies that will get to watch it on your tvs come june 13. LOL
Just kidding. Thanks again for the report!

    • Aemac says:

Gattopardo I’m glad you the like the Nest and visit often. There are sites around that have the latest episode usually a day or so after it’s first aired. Good luck in viewing.

  8. Lividity says:

Everyone is remarking on the questions being lame. I wonder why they asked everyone for questions if they were simply going to do a redo on past interviews? Seems a waste of all the question askers’ time.

Thanks for the recap of your night TC.
