The Star talks to Anna, Stephen, Alex and Alan

alexander skarsgard anna paquin stephen moyer 206x300 stephen moyer season 5 anna paquin alexander skarsgard alan ball The Star recently got the chance to speak to Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skarsgård, and Alan Ball.  It’s a tantilising interview, as they managed to get Alan and the cast to tease about what’s to come not only this season, but in season six as well.

On his imminent departure from True Blood, Alan says:

“It is for mental and physical well being – it is such a demanding job. I’m very close to being seriously burned out.  I have been working with a lot of the same writers since the beginning, so the show kind of runs itself now and I feel very confident that it will maintain a level of whatever it is that makes True Blood, True Blood.”

Anna adds:

“I have huge abandonment issues so I will be sending him letters weekly to make him feel guilty.  Honestly though, he wouldn’t leave if he felt that we weren’t in amazing hands. I think we’re all sort of in denial with the fact that he’s moving on to other things but in all fairness, I’m not sure that man has slept since the show started prepping six years ago. That concerns me a little.”

Stephen spoke about Anna’s pregnancy:

“It was always in our minds to plan for this in a way that wouldn’t affect the schedule … oh I’ve gone all American! I said ‘shed-ule’ instead of ‘sked-ule’, I’ve sold out.  Seriously, though, it was just important to the both of us to make sure that it wouldn’t affect our gang. The show is people’s bread and butter, you know, and you don’t want to mess it up for them.”

Alan on hiding Anna’s bump:
“A few weeks ago, the costumer came to me and said ‘Sookie cannot wear her Merlotte’s uniform from this point forward’. So, we thought okay, that’s fine because Sookie is hardly in her uniform anyway as she’s almost always out getting killed or killing people!”
The article reveals that although Alan Ball will not be directly involved in the show next season, he has already come up with some ideas and storylines for season six, and offers up this tidbit of information:
“Somebody that we always thought was very good is going to be very bad.”
Stephen Moyer talks about directing an upcoming episode:
“I just thought to myself that acting was what I’ve always wanted to do; directing was just a sideline at that point. I thought that maybe if I continued acting first, one day I would be in a position where it makes more sense to move on to directing. I didn’t think it would take 15 years though.”
Anna on her husband’s directing skills:
“I love working with him. He’s a wonderful director and it is something that he’s really passionate about – I think he’s going to get to do more of it. He’s only been asking since Season One or Two!”
Alex on Bill and Eric’s bromance:

“It’s weird for Eric to be saving Bill. Or for Bill to save Eric. It’s like, ‘Why am I doing this? I hate him!’ But at the same time, it’s good to see something new like this happening on the show.

Alex also spoke of how he and Stephen had a little TOO much fun on set:

Alan called us into his office and told us that we needed to keep the stakes up on the show so we had better stop fooling around so much.”

Outside of his acting and fatherhood, Stephen has been keeping busy, singing in a celebrity super-group!

“I sing in a school band. We’ve got this sort of ‘parent’ band in my daughter’s school, which has Ewan MacGregor, Ben Harper and Chris Shiflett of the Foo Fighters. It’s nuts, right? And you’re asking me why I sing in this band? It’s Chris Shiflett!”

I’d love to hear that “dad” band!

I know right? I love Ewan McGregor too!

    • AphroditeMF says:

Somebody give these guys a record deal! Steve AND Ewan in a band together?!! Hotness overload!! And I have no clue who Ben Harper is, but I love Foo Fighters.

I wonder what the band is called? And what songs they play? And if they plan to do any gigs? Arghhh, so exciting!

Oh yeah, and Chris Shiflett should totally ask Dave Grohl to be their drummer, if they haven’t got one yet.

Can you imagine how that would be? serenaded by these awesome dads? Id pay good money to see that.

Stephen is a charming guy. His interviews are the best of all.

“Somebody that we always thought was very good is going to be very bad.”

That screams Arlene to me, since she goes that route in the books. Plus it would give Carrie Preston some meaty stuff to work with.

    • hdgcat says:

It would be nice to see more of why she went that route. I’ve always suspected that after Sookie got almost killed for the 10th time, she decided that any involvement with supes was dangerous and bad…I’dlike to see more of her inner “logic” on that when she goes that route.

Watching a good friend turn against you is way more scary and traumatic than a vampire/werewolf coudl be, IMO.

    • Harpyie.Selena says:

Do you consider Arlene to be specially good? I always saw her as quite prejudiced and intolerant…..

      • Mela81 says:

I don’t think Arlene has always been nice, but she’s always been essentially good. I don’t think there’ll be much extended logic to it. I’m guessing something specific happens that pushes her over the edge. She’ll feel that she’ll need to protect her kids and maybe she’ll also buy one of those ugly obama masks. Perhaps the anonymous shooters storyline will stay unresolved until next season?

Well Alex confirms that Eric does hate Bill and wonders why he is doing this bromance. Well Alex we are all wondering the same thing. You all are so much more fun as enemies.

Really this episode was lame. The ghost-dust is the stupidest idea EVER. I would recommend they call the witch doctor (lala) to get rid of it, because the mission is a snooze fest. It’s taking a lot of air time from the viking. UGH! Plus, this episode lasted less than an hour. WTF?
