The Vegetarian Star praises Kristin Bauer for *almost* being a vegetarian. Kristin does so much great work with Tails for Whales and other eco-friends causes and was quoted at the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine’s 25th Anniversary Gala:
True Blood’s Kristin Bauer could not find the words to express the unnecessary suffering done to “people, animals or anything.” She goes on to say, “I find it hard to find the words on how much it pains me”. Kristin calls herself “almost vegetarian” since she still gets to eat meat probably a couple of times a year during Christmas gatherings with the family. “But I buy the free range meat at least,” she adds. Kristin’s face lit up when we asked her about the upcoming season of ‘True Blood’. “We’re having such a ball right now. Everything on the show is bigger and better than last year. All the characters are explored, the special effects are bigger, the characters are deep. It’s just so much fun. I was shooting right there (points to the building across us) all week so I was here twelve hours ago.”
From the Vegetarian Star:
Kristin Bauer from HBO’s True Blood is so close to being vegetarian, we’re going to award her an Honorable Mention.
The actress recently attended the Physicians Committee For Responsible Medicine’s 25th Anniversary Gala where she revealed she only eats meat about twice a year.
Looking forward to the day when Kristin announces she’s making a seitan loaf or Tofurky for the next family gathering.

Read More »Kristin Bauer was on last night’s episode of FX/Sony’s new series Justified. In the episode, entitled Riverbrook, Kristin plays an ex-beauty queen who is under the influence of a fellow trailer parker with a not so cunning criminal mind trying to beat her ex-husband’s release from jail by stealing the money he hid… somewhere. She is sweet and not too sophisticated. Also she gets to say dildo on screen. I kid you not – she brings the awesome.
This is only a short clip, but the entire episode (in which Kristin has a pretty large role) will be run again this Friday & Sunday (10:00p.m. & 1:04a.m. respectively).
More info on Justified.

Read More »Kristin Bauer (Vampire Pam) is involved in many organizations but the one that stands out is Tails for Whales which is the International Fund for Animal Welfare’s campaign to save whales.
TrueBlood-News spoke with Kristin back in September of 2009 about the campaign and how to become involved.
TB-N: What organizations do you devote your time to and how do you involve yourself with them? Is there any advice you would give to anyone who’d like to involve themselves in these charities?
“The campaign I am working on to help whales is one. You just take a photo of yourself, holding your hands under your chin in the shape of a whale tail… and you just email it in to www.tailsforwhales.org, it’s supporting a bill recently introduced into Congress to let your politicians know in a fun creative way that we really do care about whales. This bill can help avoid unnecessary deaths – things like getting big ships to slow down in their breeding grounds just like we do in a school zone.”
Below is a new PSA that Kristin recorded for this cause:

Kristin Bauer, who plays blonde vampire Pam, Eric’s (Alexander Skarsgard) wingwoman at vampire bar Fangtasia, has been promoted to regular on the HBO series.
Bauer had guest starred on Alan Ball’s vampire drama for the first two seasons, appearing in a total of 11 episodes. Ball recently hinted that may have a meaty story line in store for Pam for Season 3 when she may get into a lesbian relationship.
Bauer, who most recently co-starred on the CBS drama pilot “House Rules,” is repped by the Paul Kohner Agency and Kritzer/Levine/Wilkins/Griffin.
It’s a busy casting time at “True Blood,” which started production on the third season last week.

We here at TB-N are big fan’s of the “ists.” And by that, I mean Chicagoist, Gothamist, Londonist, etc. Well, LAist just did an interview with Kristin Bauer (Vampire Pam!). Up-to-date Pam info follows…
Tomorrow at LUSH Cosmetics in Santa Monica, Kristin Bauer, aka Pam from “True Blood” will be signing autographs and taking pics between 1 and 3pm with fans who simply show up to support the International Fund for Animal Welfare’s (IFAW) Tails for Whales photo campaign.
We had a chance to talk to the “True Blood” star about her support for this specific cause as well as get the lowdown on what will be on the upcoming “True Blood” DVD and the inspiration behind her character on the show.
LAist: Tell us about “Tails for Whales”.
Kristin Bauer: We’ve been hearing about “save the whales” ever since we were kids and now we hear a lot about polar bears so I had believed that this had been taken care of this but we can’t really cross anything off the to-do list in terms of saving. What troubled me was that there are so many unnecessary deaths for whales, whether it’s the whales getting hit by ships in their breeding grounds or when they drown in old driftnets and fishing equipment in the ocean. This campaign is a way to let the people in Washington that we elect that we do want whales saved and that there is a bill that’s been introduced that can do this. Right now many people are struggling financially and what is great about this campaign is that it’s easy, it’s fun, and we’re not asking for money. We’re just asking for photos of people making the whale tail with their hands. The only other option is to sign another petition but this campaign puts faces and photos towards the cause which I think is a lot more compelling. I’m showing up at LUSH because they have been so generous by creating a lotion from which the proceeds go to IFAW. Hopefully people will show up at LUSH and I will trade them an autographed photo for a photo of them making a whale tail and since they are there they might also be interested in this charity product.
LAist: What struck you about this campaign compared to other charities?
Kristin Bauer: I think about 80% of the population cares and wants to do something but how do you help polar bears? This campaign which just involved taking a picture is something anyone can do and anyone can show up to this store as well. A lot of these other causes are for animals that are on the other side of the world but these are animals that live right around here, think about what a huge port Long Beach is and all that shipping traffic. We want to buy stuff at Cosco and that’s how the stuff gets here and we need to take responsibility for that.
