True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgard was spotted with Kate Bosworth heading into a party to celebrate the 4th of July. Now if I was Kate I’d be walking right next to Alex to protect that 12-pack of Heineken from possible muggers. True Blood‘s Alexander Skarsgård is the issue’s best actor with bite. The best part of playing a flirtatious vampire on the show? It’s not the chance to pound some plasma, that’s for sure. “The fake blood is sticky and quite nasty,” he says. “[When we finish a scene] they run in with cups.” No, the native Swede says the biggest perk is getting to film the show’s elaborate flashback scenes. “I’d love to see Eric in 17th-century France,” he says. “He’d probably be eating Louis XIV.”

Hollywood Reporter has just announced that Alexander Skarsgard has signed to star opposite Taylor Kitsch in “Battleship,” Universal’s sci-fi tentpole adaptation of the Hasbro game.

Peter Berg (“Hancock”) is directing the action-adventure movie, which adds an “alien invasion” element to the screen story. The script, by Jon and Erich Hoeber, revolves around an international fleet coming together to battle a water-bound armada of otherworldly origin. Alexander will play Kitsch’s brother, a straight and narrow naval officer whom Kitsch, a wildly spirited naval officer, idolizes.

Alexander Skarsgård is referring to his grand (not to mention deliciously bare) entrance as Eric on the Season 3 premiere: “I love that scene,” he told Access Hollywood. “It’s a fun scene. I think it’s a good introduction to Eric in Season 3.”

Although he had to bare his backside (“Do you mean ass when you say backside?” he asked Access Hollywood), Alex is sticking to his story that the nudity on the show doesn’t bother him: “I really don’t care about that stuff. There’s some – there’s much more graphic stuff coming up later in the season. So that doesn’t really bother me. If it makes sense when I read it, I’m happy to throw my clothes off.”
