In this interview we learn that Stephen is fond of “grizzly old fuckers” and what Stephen loves most in this world. And anyone who agrees that dogs need to be allowed on beaches and will break the law to do it is A-OK in my book. <Click to enlarge>

The Essex-born True Blood Star, 41, on naked photo shoots, breaking the law and living like a cowboy with his wife and co-star, Anna Paquin
When and where are you at your happiest?
It changes all the time. Earlier this year, me and my kids [son, Billy, ten, and daughter, Lilac, eight] and Anna went to a dude ranch, which is a working cattle ranch where you live like a cowboy for a Week. We had a ball, then the following week Anna and I got married.
Who do you admire?
Jeff Bridges, Clint Eastwood and Tom Waits – grizzly old fuckers. I met Jeff Bridges at a movie convention. I said, ‘Oh my God, I love you so muchl’ And he said [in laid-back American accent], ‘And I love you.’ He can’t have had a clue who I was.
What gets on your nerves?
My mobile-phone number is almost identical to that of a party supplies company in Venice, Los Angeles, so I get phone calls asking me for things like balloon helium.
Ever thought about changing your number?
I’ve lived here for five years, man – it’s my number! It’s funny, because I also know when the company’s not doing very well – occasionally] get calls from the bank.
What’s your biggest fear?
Losing the people closest to me. There are all sorts of stupid peripheral fears, but ultimately that’s the gut one.
What’s your secret pleasure?
It’s illegal to take dogs on Venice Beach, so as soon as it’s dark and all the lifeguards have cleared away, me and the missus take our dogs, Splash and Banjo, along the beach. Anna and I do get followed around a bit, but at night, when it’s dark, it’s just us.
What’s been your proudest moment?
True Blood recently got parodied by Sesame Street – youknow you’ve arrived then. My character looked like Bert or Ernie with floppy dark hair.
So not the nude Rolling Stone True Blood cover?
Until it got trumped by the Muppets. We actually shot quite a conventional cover, and [True Blood co-star] Alexander Skarsgard and I thought we’d finished, so we hit the buffet. Then the photographer explained the naked concept… You ask anyone who does a nude shoot, you look after yourself for a couple of days leading up to it, you don’t scoff burgers.
Who do you love most in this world?
My wife, the kids, the dogs. Without them I’m nothing. When you have kids you realise that you’re not important any more, and for somebody who does what I do for a living, it’s great not to be the centre of attention.
Do you have any recurring dreams or nightmares?
I’m on a stage I’ve never been on before, with a bunch of actors I’ve never seen before and there’s a big audience there. They’re waiting for someone to speak and I realise it’s me, but the lines I know are from a completely different play. The classic actor dream.
When was the last time you were frightened?
In Italy about three weeks ago, I injured my ankle While stepping off a kerb. It was scary because you think, ‘Everything’s going to stop, I won’t be able to earn a living.’
If you’re doing an acting job you have to sign a contract to say you won’t ski, ride horses or bungee jump in case you injure yourself… but I was just stepping off a kerb!

Walking into a party you weren’t invited to. Sometimes I stand in a place surrounded by people I grew up watching in films and I think, ‘How did I get in?’

Tom Waits and the Dude aren’t really that old though, grizzly for sure, but they only 61ish.
Sterphen Moyer is one of the most down home people I would love to know.
He’s not a “Diva” he’s real~he loves his wife,his kids and his pets.
And he goes to places like dude ranches~no hoity toity hotels or private islands.

I’m trying to picure him and Alex attacking a buffet…..then trying to suck in their guts when they had to pose naked. LOL!
Dude ranch! I think that’s why we all like them so much, they’re not out trying to live the “high life”.
Getting hurt in Italy: is Stephen accident prone or what? how many times has he been injured over the past year? two or three? At least? It seems like I’m always seeing photos of him with a cane, or wearing a booty or something….
Actors always want what rthey don’t have. If they’re known as “serious” actors, tehy want to be comedians. Comedians always want to do shakespeare. Stephen wants to be the grizzly old cowboy cuz he gets offered the parts that are the exact opposite of that. This makes me even sorrier he wasn’t able to do Big Valley.

Hey, hdgcat. I was thinking the same thing about Stephen’s accidents. Maybe he just gets sidetracked and doesn;t pay attention…that’s what happens to me. :-)
Probably reading a map or playing around with his camera! I saw a papp video a while back with Anna carrying organic coffee and Steve was drinking a coffee and he walked into the wall (sideways!). I am also a bit like that!~

You know it is so funny because he reminds me of Clint Eastwood – his features – those gorgeous eyes and I was so pleased he mentioned his name, along with Jeff Bridges who I have admired for years and who also is like Stephen a very down to earth person – never see him at fancy places or all the “in” places that the a list crowd seem to prefer. It is nice to have someone who works for a living and that living is acting yet had not lost his sense of the common man. Love him
I also have seen something of Clint in Stephen. Not sure what it is, but I remember to have thought that more than once!
I think it is his eyes and maybe his mouth? The unshaven look? Put a cowboy hat and bandana on this gorgeous man and we have a Clint!
He has very narrow eyes. It’s also why I think he looks better with some kind of bang. He has a high forehead and his eyes get “lost” on his face …bangs bring attention to those pretty blues. He also has chiseled angled type face like Clint.
I usually go for the Viking type, but I have to say that Stephen is a delightful interviewee. Very charming.

I still can’t believe he like Tom Waits.. My husband drags me to his concerts when he does tour. I love SM interviews always interesting.
It is not fair. I want to meet him even more now. I hope he is having a great day and knows how much his wiki’d women love him. I love the thought of him and Anna at a dude ranch, I love the outdoor especially farm areas. I also like picturing him at a buffet with Alex. They are so cute together it shows how good a acters they are when they can hate eachother on TB but be best friends off stage. My dream someday is to meet him and all my truebee friends online. I wanna give a shout out to ZZ for the post and to All the Bill/Stephen lovers out there let’s not ever give up on our man.
I never have ever loved an actor like Stephen. His generosity, sense of humor, professionalism, his love for family, pets, and his fans makes him one above the rest.

Stephen never ceases to entertain and amuse his audience. Another great interview as always. Making us all smile with his wit, humor and honesty. If he wasnt so dam handsome and sexy, he could easily be a comedian. But i would rather him play the dark lover.
Then again, to be able to branch out to do different things is what every great actor wants. So Stephen I hope your future brings all you desire and more.
You already are so rich in your home life. You have the love of your life and two beautiful children, plus the respect and love of your peers, and of course your love of animals which alone says so much about you.
Then again, there is Sesame Street! Haha,I love it!
