Great news! Deadline has reported not only a new movie for Stephen Moyer, but a lead role!
EXCLUSIVE: Stephen Moyer has joined the cast of Devil’s Knot in a lead role. The True Blood star will play prosecutor John Fogelman in the film about the wrongfully convicted and imprisoned West Memphis 3. He joins Colin Firth, Reese Witherspoon Alessandro Nivola and more in the cast and will begin work on the Atom Eyogen-directed film immediately to fit in shooting around his schedule for the HBO vampire series. Devil’s Knot tells the true story of how, despite no psychical evidence, teens Jason Baldwin, Damien Echols and Jessie Misskelley were found guilty and jailed for a triple homicide in 1993. They were finally released last year. The movie is based on the 2003 book Devil’s Knot: The True Story Of The West Memphis Three by investigative reporter Mara Leveritt. Moyer is repped by WME and managed by Lubor Roklin Entertainment.

LOVE this :)
This sounds like an excellent role and film, good for Stephen.
This sounds like a great project with an excellent cast and director. Congrats Stephen.
I remember this story. I think HBO did a three part documentary on this. It was really interesting and I really enjoyed it and the story will make a great movie. I just hope Atom Eyogen doesn’t make it too weird, as he tends to do sometimes, because he has a great cast and the story is interesting in itself.
Congratulations Stephen Moyer.
Peter Jackson just helped produce another documentary on the subject, premiered at this year’s Sundance.
It’s a story that’s just beyond infuriating.
And yes, Stephen will in essence be playing one of the villains.
Wow that’s great!!! I can’t wait to see this movie…
I’m quite thrilled for him. Those are some big names, very happy to see Stephen as a lead in the film.
Colin Firth and Stephen Moyer in the same movie, awesome! I like Reese Witherspoon too, when she does drama.
Oooh, this sounds really interesting! And that’s great that Stephen has landed a major role, alongside some big-name actors. If he’s playing the prosecutor, it sounds like it will be a villainous role.
I hope he still has time to shoot Spitfire during the hiatus.
I cnn’t wait for this movie,,,I so glad that Stephen is palying in it,,,I live in Tennessee just north of MeImphis,,,West Memphis is just over the River, Remember this sad story Every,,every well…. I wish they would flim some of it here !!! that would be a BAST,,,Way to go Stephen !!!
Stephen in a lead role with Colin is awesome news. A couple of handsome talented blokes like that should play off each other really well. Bet they are friends in real life.
Congrats to Stephen for getting this great part.
I just watched the true story of when the WM 3 were released from prison on ID (yes, I’m addicted). The prosecutor is very much a villain. The movie should be good and why are they getting English actors to play Southern characters, I don’t know, but I love Colin, as well as Stephen, and look forward to it.
That’s is one of the first things I thought about too, two Englishmen playing southern guys again. Oh well, the English do have a talent for doing the southern accent because it is in a lot of ways similar. I imagine I will see this movie as I watch anything with Colin Firth in it. My Mr. Darcy.
Sounds like a good meaty role for him, well done. The Brits make the best sneery villains ;)
Talking about villains … I have to stop watching interviews with Stephen, he always comes across as funny and grounded, I almost don’t buy it when he plays the bad guy.
Does any of you know if there’s a released date for “The Barrens” yet?
Congratulations to Stephen! So happy for him and I can’t wait to see SM on the Big Screen YAY!
