Nelsan Ellis as David in The Soloist
For all you Lafayette Reynolds fans out there (and really, who amongst us can say that we are not?), I’d just like to let you know that “The Soloist” is available, as of today, on DVD and Blu-ray.
The movie is based on LA Times columnist Steve Lopez’s best-seller about his friendship with a gifted musician (Nathanial Ayers) who also happens to be a member of the vast Los Angeles homeless community.
Nelsan plays David, manager of the real life Lamp Community, a nonprofit org that strives to help the mentally disabled homeless in Los Angeles.
The film is directed by English filmmaker Joe Wright (Pride & Prejudice, Atonement) and stars Robert Downey Jr. as Steve Lopez and and Jamie Foxx as schizophrenic homeless musician, Nathaniel Ayers.
