The wicked Magister’s self-righteous head rolled in last night’s episode … literally … before it exploded into a puddle of goo …
Oh, Magister. You rocked the Tribunal scene, and you were so very ironically cruel to Bill, choosing the punishment that would hurt him the most. You, with your exquisitely tailored suits and your Blackberry and your torture cane. Only you would think to hurt our beloved (and stylish) Pam with Tiffany’s (a classy move she might admire if she hadn’t been about to lose her eyelids).
In the end, you were disappointingly weak, but we have you to thank for Jessica. If nothing else but for her creation, it’s impossible not to feel gratitude to your sadistic sense of justice. I can’t say that I’ll miss you, and I can’t say you didn’t deserve to meet a bloody end after centuries of torturing people (and admit it, you got off on it), but you were devoted in your over-zealous desire to keep order, living your vampiric life much as you did your human life. That level of commitment is admirable – diabolical and insane, but admirable.
May you rest in peace.

Oh the Magister. He had his place in the True Blood world and definitely delivered when it came to putting a face to evilness personified what with his love of torture, the cane and all… though I didn’t expect him to sound so much like a religious convert at the end with all of his loyalty to “Teh Authority”. It would have been interesting to see how he would have handled the punishment of KRE or QSA, but such things are not meant to be…
Oh, and… no obituary for Coot? lol
I was hoping the Magister would last longer. : (
Same here Aemac – he seemed to be overpowered a bit too quickly in the end .
I’m so NOT gonna miss The Magister… but what worreis me with his death is, if Russell Eddington is above all laws and does not recognize Tne Authority (whatever that is) what is gonna happen with the AVL and the Vampires Rights if any vampire (king or not) goes against the interests of the AVL just because he is against the Great Revelation… just saying!
Another smashing obit, latbfan. God, you do this well. If Alan Ball ever needs a summation of characters for the TB Canon, you are the one to provide it.
I only wish you had written the Magister’s end. Plus a LOT more middle. I’m with Aemac and Sarah UK. The Magister’s end, at least,, could have been more exquisitely drawn. Not that what was written was poor- it was terrific. Just too sparse. The whole scene needed filling in, IMO. Unsatisfying.(Tight schedule? No problem. Ax Summer – what a waste of space and time on screen.)
At any rate, latbfan, I’m deeply satisfied by your witty and wise eulogy.
I am so glad that it was Russell who killed him. He was such a self righteous bully, and they usually are pretty weak… but I’ll miss him…
Oh Magister so full of yourself happy to see you go…but do RIP!!
Of all the vampires in True Blood, the Magister scared me the most. He stole every one of his scenes with a calm evil and I can only imagine what’s next since King Russel is bound and determined to take over the world.
RIP Magister! I guess at the end when you, “backed your shit down,” it wasn’t enough because there is a new fucking authority in town!
I miss the Magister already. He was one of my favorite characters on the show. I just didn’t want to see him die. Ohhh, what a waste, he had such a great part and he played the hell out of it. I became giddy anytime he came on screen, in hopes of watching him torcher some soulless vampire to his or her final (true) death. Oh well, there’s always King Russel, and his delusional quest for world domination.
Laura the only people we saw him torture were Bill, Pam, and some dork who couldn’t keep his paws off someone else’s human. I wouldn’t call any of them soulless. Though Pam can be a real bitch she didn’t deserve excruciating torture just for her aid in dealing V.
Watching the Magister’s head spin right off his shoulders was truly orgasmic to say the least. He was an annoying old fart and a hypocrite as that. Claiming to be of justice but then torturing his fellow vamps for petty crimes. He has no idea what blasphemy and sin really are, for he has spent his undead life dishing a lot of both. Decapitation was too quick and painless for what he deserved.
RIP Magister of Louisiana,
I’m glad you’re gone
eh… Magister had to go. He was old in his mind which lead to his way of ruling. If he couldn’t adapt to the changing times, then he had to go. I’m not sorry he’s gone. Leave it to Russell to have the balls to kill him.
