Ann the Sad Stripper
Ann’s stage name was Destiny, and she then lied and told Bill it was really Camilla, but it was Bill’s unfortunate destiny to be ordered (by Russell Edgington) to procure dinner. Bill walked into the strip club and glamoured Ann into telling him her real name. After a few questions, it was revealed that Ann had been abandoned by her parents and didn’t believe in love. She had no children, and she was as sad and lonely as a human could be. Bill carefully chose her for those reasons, her death leaving as small an impact as possible. But no one wants to end her life, no matter how miserable, dripping out of the back of a limo with three messy and wasteful vampires. Poor Ann. Just a brief glimpse into her young, tragic life was enough to fill me with sadness. May she rest in peace.

Everyone seems to want to talk about Ann, so here’s her RIP.
Yes, I’m honestly doing one for every single character who’s died on the show. Yes, it’s lots and lots of obituaries… *latbfan brushes the dirt from the True Blood cemetery from her hands*
Have at it, fan(g)s!
Poor Ann, the patron saint of being in the wrong place at the right time.
Thank you latbfan for providing such civilized farewells.
dear latbfan, you are indeed leaving no tombstone unturned and your obituaries so penetrating you manage to give depth and texture to even the most overlooked or secondary characters. And they are a “joy” to read. (ok that came of tongue in cheek when it really was not supposed to.)
From fresh corpses to old bones, from forensic analysis to archeological dig, your obits reveal new sides to the characters I didnt even dream were there. Great job and much appreciated!!!
You have given the martyred Ann a touching send-off, latbfan. What a signifyng role she played, the utterly defenseless, unloved, trapped and tortured animal torn to pieces for amusement. Blood sport – as ugly and pointless as killing gets, and no sport in this vampire version either. (And Russell makes such a big to-do about abhorring unnecessary bloodshed – yeah, right) .
Destiny Camilla Ann…. poor soul, may she find in death the peace that she never found in life.
I thought this charachter was so very sad – such despair in her eyes, such an “I give up” view to life. She was on screen for all of 5 minutes possibly, yet I thought her scenes with Bill were amongst the most touching and moving of this season.
Maybe if Jessica talks to Bill a little more about the trucker she drained, Bill can open up about what he did to Ann. I know the circumstances of the deaths were different, but they booth took a life. That would be a scene I would really like to see.
That scene made my heart bleed. And that Massive Attack track. Omg, def. one of the most memorable scenes so far this season imo. And you did a great job writing her obituary, she was on screen for no longer than 5 minutes, yet Destiny/Camilla/Ann stole the show with her stunning presence, her sad lifestory and her unfair death…RIP
Ann, like so many vulnerable women fell pray to a serial killer, specifically chosen due to her profession and lack of ties to the world. It is so sad that the police do not have the resources/incentive to investigate these disappearances and bring the killers to justice. I think that when True Blood started they tried to show Vampires as being mis-understood and sincere in their attempts at mainstreaming. Over the course of this season they have gone to show that it is the rare exception of a vampire (Eddie RIP) who is not really a vicious monster masquerading in society, and ultimately the Fellowship of the Sun is right, they really do not deserve a chance. Too bad the AVL isn’t doing more to eliminate these bad apples if that is what they are.
I wonder how many “Anns” Bill procured over the 35 years he procured for Sophie Anne?
Best he not think about any of that…in flashbacks…or you’d really have your hands full latbfan!
I have a feeling the Camilla persona was more a defense mechanism that doubled as an alias for her personal safety. Because what domestic fugitive and psychology major wouldn’t naturally need to create and inhabit such a exotically and serenely named fictional identity with complete abandon? I would have loved to have seen Anne slump and her eyes shine with a glaze of tears as she reluctantly told Bill her real name. So damn the hollowing done to victims by vampire glamor. Her very soul could have reacted to how easily he stripped the stripper of her hard-earned cover-up.
I mourn Anne even more for what added poetry I’m probably imagining was there, lol. She wasn’t just some tool to further depict Bill’s hands-tied struggle with compromising his humanity, but was a valid heart and mind tucked away in that random bar, rhythmically enduring.
It’s been bittersweet, Anne. Thanks Latbfan.
I liked her very much, do someone know the name of the actress?
