It Sucks to be Vampire Bait

This week on True Blood, Sam’s apparently a cold blooded killer, Jess chucks an annoying horndog into the woods, some rednecks tag Bill’s house, Suspicious Sookie is Suspicious then Stupid, Eric is back to being a dastardly cad, and Jason is feeling a tad overwhelmed by all this Supe bullshit. Plus fairies are fucking lame. Hell yes!

fae recaps ep 10 i smell a rat

The Great Revelation: "I'm a fairy? How fucking lame!"

Well, a week went by in the boring, unglamourous  Real World where there was a naked “scandalous” ménage a trois magazine cover and a wedding (aww, Bill and Sookie married, for real like! Even I’m charmed and haunting gossip sites that normally make me puke). And as a consequence there’s been enough juicy media coverage of True Blood to make the HBO fat cats rub their hands together with glee and cackle maniacally. Even in my podunk country this shit made headline news. So who cares if the writing and characters’ behaviour this season varies wildly between episodes, Russell’s diabolical master plan is taking wayyyyyy too long to play out, minor, less interesting plots take up too much time, all cool new characters get killed off and the boring ones stay, and the much pimped out and chewed over love triangle is still frigging non-existent, y’all watching anyway. Mwahahahahaha!

Alas, Show Gods, there are critical fans around who can string two sentences together, who are not distracted by shiny things and naked bits, and who are here to call you out on your crimes against consistency and believability. I had serious issues with this episode for the aforementioned reasons, and disappointingly, I feel exactly the same as I did this time last year. We are not getting ANYWHERE with the two main plotlines- Sookie needs to stop hating Eric, and he’s got to stop being such a bastard to her, or the ménage a trois is a bunch of PR ass; and Russell has to stop faffing around with man whores and scaring people on TV and actually DO something to take over the world, as that’s kind of the point of all the posturing and evilness, innit?  And we have only 2 episodes left to advance both plots, which didn’t work well in Season 2, as I recall. Cramming in a bunch of crazy within 2 hours and/or leaving things hanging makes fans ratty, and we’re an ornery bunch to start with. Enough with the pissing about and just get on with it!

tara jason recaps ep 10 i smell a rat

"Dig!!??... Tara, wouldn't be better to bring the mop??"

Taking my own advice, I shall begin. In Jason’s manky house, Sookie is just as unimpressed as me about being outed as a fucking lame fairy. Bill had a nice time sunbathing in fairyland and chilling with Claudine, who ended up telling him a bunch of revealing stuff and not hating and zapping on him after all. Over at Merlottes, Jason is PTSDing about the other folks he killed while he helps bitter n’ twisted Tara clean up the Franklin mess and get the hell outta there.

On their way to hospital, Lafayette and Jesus realise Calvin’s not going to last long enough to get there, and Laffy stops at his pad to grab some V to fix him up.  In his trailer, Sam is glugging Jack D and having a flashback to a time when he was Bad Sam, robbing folks of bling with some chick I recognise from another TV show. Alas, our lovely doggie has an awful history of being screwed over and dissed by all and sundry, and all the shit he’s gone through since Season 1 has sent him over the edge of darkness. I do not like, someone has to stay a perpetual good guy!

The fact that tasty fairies were near wiped out by overly amorous vampires makes the Sook suspect Bill of nefarious motives more than the usual, and she’s questioning the foundation of their whole effed up yet compelling relationship. Going into super-romantic mode, Bill swears off drinking her blood for good and makes me sniffle with a stream of eloquent, lovey dovey platitudes. Ooh, my stars. Meanwhile, over in Fangtasia, Eric is less charming, compounding the whole Good Guy vs Bad Guy cliché yet again. Composing a will whilst snarling at anxious benefactress Pam and calling a miffed Yvetta a gold digging whore, it’s clear the grumpy Viking of Sexy still has no clue what to do about that gloriously batty vamp King on the telly, and sees death as very imminent. Back in Bon Temps, Calvin is immediately cured by a tiny vial of V when it takes gallons for other badly injured folks, and he’s up and about, smacking his screechy daughter around and disowning her for ditching Felton and not maintaining their inbreeding ways. Eww. Whole new dimension of trash indeed.

bill sookie eric recaps ep 10 i smell a rat

Vampire Crack or Vampire Sandwich?

Returning to Jason’s, Sookie is asleep on the couch while Bill guards her and watches Nan Flanagan on TV in damage control mode. Sensing Eric mooching around outside, he joins his adversary and yay! Bill and Eric bitching at each other moment, about time we had one of those. They trade witty jibes for a bit, discussing Sook’s magic blood and ramping up the “who’s the bigger douche” competition (seriously Sookie, get a vibrator) and of course the Sook gets up and barges into the middle of things.

It looks like Eric’s going to reveal Bill as a liar about that mysterious real reason for being Sook’s immortal lover (plant for the Queen/the Authority/VRA/totally innocent?) but nope, it was just about the fairy thing, which is old news already. After he’s roundly snarled at by a hostile Sook, Eric looks all hangdog and appealing and skulks off, leaving Bill the temporary winner this round. He may be fricking useless in a Bill vs Eric fist fight, but my William is great with words. Sadly, he’s not nearly as good at deviousness.

Over at Merlottes, Jess is not as delighted as I am to see White Suit Motherfucker Steve Newlin on the TV spewing vampire hate. Arlene is getting all riled up listening to the propaganda and shoots off her mouth, sending Jess into fed up, fangy mode with the skinny bitch, which gives a lurking Tommy a major boner. Jess demonstrates major Good Vamp skills and restrains herself from ripping Arlene’s head off.

Across town, a cornered Hoyt has Summer getting her ample goodies out all ready for some action that will lead directly to marriage, but he’s not interested in sex with her as she’s nuttier than a fruitcake, collects dolls and isn’t Jess.  Back at Jason’s, the dopiest Stackhouse and Tara aren’t happy to see Bill when they get home from killing Franklin. Bill wisely makes himself scarce, dragging Jason outside to give him strict instructions to guard Sookie from werewolves and her own stupidity during the day, which is a very big ask since Jason’s tiny brain is a tad overloaded at the moment.

Inside, Tara is spewing more hate about vampires and Bill in particular. A weary Sook defends her on-off man yet again, then finally hears the nasty details of her BFF’s brief vampire romance with Franklin, which explains the rampant hostility. Tara is so bitter she makes my mouth screw up like I’m chewing on tequila soaked lemons everytime she’s on screen. Which is great acting I guess, but bloody tiresome. My hapless hubby can’t stand her and wants her dead, and I’m inclined to agree most of the time. How did she end up with such a fabulous cousin, being so heinous and all?

laf jesus recaps ep 10 i smell a rat

"ohhhh...! It is Sunday and we're on True Blood!"

Sparkly relative Lafayette and his new, hot boyfriend are always great to watch, but the taking V and tripping through past lives of creepy ancestors thingy goes on for way too long this week, and I even get irritated with him. Sigh. Demons/witches/shamans in Sunday hats…whatever. Too many Supes crowding up my world at the moment.

arlene terry recaps ep 10 i smell a rat

"I am a Terry Bear and I'll raise your evil child"

As the pretty twosome are busy hallucinating colourful stuff, Bad Sam is staggering around Merlottes with a major hangover while his staff tiptoe around him ultra carefully. Since he’s a complete blowhard, Tommy thinks Sam’s little display last night was awesome and admirable, but everyone else is perplexed and kinda scared. Terry’s even come into work early, and Holly the wiccan tries to get the boss man to calm the fuck down with some herbal juju that is soundly rejected.

Next to the dumpster out back weepy Arlene confesses all about the real father of her baby, and the delightful Terry B assumes Sam’s place as the nicest man in Bon Temps and nobly says he will raise the unwanted sprog as his own. Back over at Jason’s, our boy is looking strung out, and is muttering about how good he is at protecting folks to convince himself in between confessing that it was him that offed Mad Franklin and Boring Eggs. His sister is all admiring of his truth telling, and spouts something ominous and judgemental about vamps being the only people that can really keep secrets from her.

Later on, the Sook has a nap, conveniently letting Eric in for more “don’t trust Bill…now how about a kiss and maybe some dream sex?” malarkey. I hope the question gets answered one day whether he’s dictating Sookie’s dreams or not. It sure looking like a phone call to her sub-conscious to me, as while poor Jason is dealing with more Tara wailing and gnashing of teeth in the other room (and some random face-sucking), Sook takes off to Fangtasia. Ahh, a classic “WTF Sookie?” moment to add to the growing list. After all those warnings about her super-amazing, irresistible blood and mucho evil vampire behaviour from everyone she knows all season, not to mention declaring that she hated Eric’s guts in Jackson for selling her and Bill out, she thinks this is a good idea? I’m not convinced she’s that dumb, sorry writers. Oh, by the way, Jason confessed to Tara he shot Eggs, but y’all forgive me for focusing on the more interesting shit here.

eirc sookie recaps ep 10 i smell a rat

"Yeah, Yeah... got it. I shall not trust Bill!"

Moving on swiftly yet grumpily, muttering under my breath about inconsistent, ditzy heroines, I note night has fallen in Bon Temps and it’s now vamp time. Jess is up and out of the hidey hole and yawning, only to be startled by a burning cross on her lawn (how very Southern) and colourful insults tagged all over Bill’s gracious old house by reactionary numbnuts all pissed about King Russ’s performance on TV. She’s about to go after the fuckers and open up a can of whoop ass when Daddy turns up and gently stops her in her tracks, saying its better they don’t retaliate even if it’s in their nature. Well sheeeeit, more good parenting. Meanwhile, somewhere in the woods, Sam is alone and back on the turps and back in the past, remembering how he tracked down the losers who ripped off his jewel heist stash, and killed them in a fit of rage. The cash he stole back from them was presumably used to buy Merlottes. Oh Sam, I feel so betrayed. Plus you look weird without face fuzz!

eric sookie kiss recaps ep 10 i smell a rat

The moment all Eric fans were expecting

At Fangtasia, Sook barges past Pam yet again to find Eric and demand information, this time about why she shouldn’t trust Bill exactly. Eric doesn’t tell her, just mutters some woe is me stuff about meeting his final death and wanting a kiss before that happens, going in for her lips. She kind of fights it/loves it, then breaks away to bleat again about Bill. I guess throwing her in the Fangtasia dungeon IS kind of tempting to ole Eric.

Pam then interrupts with a faux vampire emergency blah blah, dragging Sheriff Badass out into the bar to berate him about silly Sook. Her ruthless yet stylish advice is to give up her annoying ass to Russell or come up with a plan to use her as bait. Eric retires to ponder all this and leaves the tasty telepath to stew and fume for a bit.

I’ve been missing Russell something awful all episode, and finally we see him with his glass urn of Talbot goo in tow, picking up a man whore with a passing resemblance to his sadly departed Greek Adonis in an alley. Pshaw, so he’s clearly not in a hurry to take over the world. And where the hell is Sophie-Anne, still locked in a cage? Skipping back to Merlottes, Arlene sidles up to Holly the wiccan about getting rid of her baby with herbs and spells, despite Terry B’s offer. Um, apparently old-school abortion is not murder?

Whatever, Hoyt has walked in to blow our minds with a last ditch, totally adorable attempt to win Jessica back. Anyone else finding him strangely hot this season? He lays it on the line, saying he loves Jess for all she is, the good as well as the bad, and demands that she tell him she doesn’t love him. She’s stunned into silence, so he walks out of the bar all miserable, punching a jeering Tommy in the face as he goes. Tommy shifts into a pitbull and bites him good, but Jess runs out, awesomely flings the fleabag dog into the bushes and begs Hoyt to drink her blood to heal. Yay! Now work it out and do a happily ever after, you crazy kids.

jess hoyt recaps ep 10 i smell a rat

Jessica, you should marry this man... then, eat his Mama!

bill jason recaps ep 10 i smell a rat

"Next time you visit this house, bring me a fucking cake!"

Over at Jason’s house, Bill is hopping mad that his once potential brother-in law has let Sookie wander off. Jason’s already feeling like a total dick about his inability to do his job and protect folks, so he loses his rag and rescinds Bill’s invitation. Currently nobody in Bon Temps likes Bill except Jess, and its just MEAN, people. Jason flounces into his bedroom as the door slams on Bill, and finds a random kitty cat. A BIG ass, random kitty cat that promptly shifts back into Crystal. Rawrrrrr.

Despite being very fed up with all these Supes, I find it kind of cool, but what’s happening with Russell? He’s in bed babbling at his Talbot replacement about how sorry he is for neglecting him and taking him for granted while he hatched planet-saving psycho plans and devoured strippers and the like, and he really appreciated all the Martha Stewart fussing after all. It’s quite tragic actually, but just as you’re feeling terribly sorry for him he stakes the innocent man whore, who randomly turns into actual Talbot as he dies so Russell can have a proper goodbye.

eric sookie dungeon recaps ep 10 i smell a rat

"Didn't you like my kiss or what!!?"

We end with Bill pacing angrily back and forth on Sookie’s porch while the lady herself paces in Eric’s office. Yet again, she’s blindly and stupidly walked into an unpleasant situation because she assigned Eric some kind of tenderness, reliability and niceness that he might actually have someday maybe, but certainly not at the moment with Russell on his plate and the writers busy laying on the cold bastard stuff with a trowel. When he marches in and slings her ass none too gently in his icky basement to keep her as bait for trapping his adversary, it is no surprise to me, but a big surprise to Sook the dumbass, and it no doubt pisses off many Eric fans.

Bill senses her alarm and is off running, and we will find out Eric’s diabolical plan next week. Going by the previews it will not be very pleasant for the Sook, but I’m not feeling too sorry for her at the moment so meh. Laters everyone!

“Crimes Against Consistency and Believability” – best line ever. Go get ‘em, CE!

  2. Aemac says:

There’s always something good on Wednesdays and it’s CE’s re-caps!!!!

“Crimes against consistency and believability” better than any line in the show this week.

You are so right, CE. Franklin Mott, Talbot and possibly KRE killed. Alcide, Ctrystal and Jesus kept around. I think we need to switch this around.

I don’t get why no one in BT likes Bill either, if it wasn’t for Bill and Sam there would be no Bon Temps or peeps to inhabit it. Sookie’s family and friends ain’t much when it comes to family and friends. Sookie needs to move.

I don’t know who I want to bitch slap more…..Sookie or the writers. I guess the writers win since they wrote Sookie being a total dweeb this episode.

  3. Acanthus says:

Two and half hours away across the Tasman Sea, I actually kept checking here tonight for That Post from New Zealand and CitizenE’s take on things. It was worth every nanosecond of the wait. This one’s a masterpiece. I think I even agree with 95%, but I’m crazy-liking the whole style, the panache of the full 100%.

Too fagged to comment further tonight (espesh as I must defend and even celebrate caddish dastardliness this time, and that’s going to be a slog, and don’t I know it). For the moment, I’ll just take the easy option and repeat myself: As always, CE, your recap is Il Capo di Tutti Recapi. Loved this one most particularly.

  4. jay says:

    Another great recap CE!

Unlike yourself, I enjoyed the spaced out visit to jesus and lafys witchy ancestors! something different, that @ times I was quite freaked out by. Especially jesus great grandfather, thats one scary ass man! I have become resistant to decapitated nude bodies, fangs and blood..But that witchy/sourcerer stuff was really different and dark. I forgot that this show is not just about watching hot people, but it can actually be scary too!!! lol

Terry bellefleur is such a good man!

    Sams past shocked me!

The eric sookie kiss I found really hott! Nice work Anna and Alex :) But then they ruin it by reminding eric he’s still an asshole!!! be it a hott and sexy 1!!!

Bill v Eric…Bill won that little battle! yay!!! but Sooks reaction to Eric surprised me!

Bring on ‘Fresh Blood’ I hear lotsa twists and turns CE…But as usual, you will ace the recap hands down :)

  5. TBObsessed says:

Spot on recap! I had a lot of the same issues- a few drops of V save Calvin from near death when it seems to take pints of the fresh stuff. Does V get stronger with age or what? And I know Laf has said several times that V affects everyone differently, but why is it that the people who get healed never seem to trip like he and Jesus did? Or get massive erections like Jason? And Sookie charging to go see Eric when he apparently sold her out in Jackson was way dumb even for her!

I did like Sookie’s reaction to finding out what she is! Yeah, it is kind of lame. And, “My people are rapists?” Fairy rape- sounds like a typical trip to Disneyworld! The way Bill got sucked out the door of Jason’s house was pretty cool. Can’t blame Jason for getting all pissed at Bill for busting his chops after what he’d been through. Was Jason supposed to chain Sookie to the floor like Eric?? I was kind of cheering him for going from flustered to enraged like he did! It’s about the first time this season he’s been interesting!

Seeing what Crystal’s animal form was kind of underwhelming, but that’s probably my fault for reading too many spoilers. I guess Crystal’s not aware that Jason has a fairy hybrid sister who hangs out with vampires and gets chased by werewolves. And he frequents a bar owned by a shapeshifter. A werepanther girlfriend probably will only give him a momentary shock.

“seriously Sookie, get a vibrator” LOL! Yeah, both vamps are looking a bit jerky and deceptive right now, although at least Bill uses his jerkiness to try to protect her and Eric is using it to exploit her!

    Team Hoyt!

  6. jen says:

    i lurv the captions…
    bwahahahaha!!!
    lurvin it CE!! lurvin it!!!

  7. konfettii says:

Heh, great recap CE! There was a lot of stupid stuff here, but I *think* there were some new writers on this one so mayhaps that explains it some?
My thoughts are rambling since I’m still having trouble figuring out what I watched…

Sookie still has no idea about her blood allows vamps to daywalk, as Bill side-stepped that. I think he’s better at being devious than you give him credit for, he’s been doing this a lot lately.
When Sookie told Eric “I know what you want and you’ll never get it” she was just talking about her yummy blood in general, but Eric, I do think, was thinking more along the lines of a strategical advantage. They were having two different conversations in an almost sitcom fashion.
I assume she will figure it out when Eric holds her down and fangs her next episode.

Seriously, why keep that tidbit from her Bill? Maybe because that ‘you have brought me light’ speech might seem a little too literal? Gag me. Seriously. Kinda like forgetting to mention that ingesting vamp blood makes you attracted sexually to the vamp. That’s twice now your half-truths and ommissions are going to get Sook in trouble. Get. A. Clue.

Loved Jason this time around, and of course Terry is the man of the hour. Sam I’m having some trouble with at the moment as the entire thing seemed really forced. Like the writers were saying ‘okay, so we need to make sure everyone on the show is now or has been a really shit individual.’ Why? I dunno. Lost there. I did kinda like his early 90′s look, though. *snicker*

The stuff with Jessica and Hoyt – either TB can’t come up with new stuff or there is a reason that scene is almost an exact copy of S1 Bill rescue of Sookie. I’m glad Hoyt dumped Summer, though. She was annoying, she and her dolls, but if it’s not going to work just cut ‘em loose. She did have great cleavage, though.

And CE, you asked about the dreams and stuff? My guess is that Jessica, who has been a learning tool for us in regards to vampires, will be the answer. If vamps can invade or share dreams, control emotions or whatever deliberately, then I think we’ll find out via Jess. She doesn’t have a clue what her blood can do, apart from being able to heal. (unless she’s been researching on her own)
If she finds out she can somehow manipulate Hoyt now, it’s going to freak her out.

Bill coming to check on Jessi and giving her wise counsel was a thank you Jesus moment. That was touching, loved it.

And as for Jesus and LaLa…ummm….was that V-trip (info-dump) just way to friggin’ long?

Pam still rules the day: Russell is coming. He’s going to kill everyone, snatch Sook, eat children and take over the universe. Can you deal with that please? Like now?? Love her *swoon*

So now Eric has a plan and it’s going to suck to watch it unfold because no one likes to see people have shit done to them against their will and that is exactly what is going to happen. Id like to think Eric would let her in on the plan, but….eh. Probably. Not.
I imagine after that convo with Pam, Eric took a walk, crushed all emotion like a good like Godricson, and decided to be a proactive bastard. And I’m cool with it now. Maybe that doesn’t speak well of my character. I still don’t want Russell to die.

Oh yeah, and Tara managed to make me feel guilty for every liking Franklin. Dammit.

  8. gattopardo says:

great recap CE, as usual. I want to see you hired by Alan Ball. Please TV Show Gods, grant me this wish.

    • Willowsraindance says:

I so agree with Gatto. I think CE would be a great addition to the team. Loving the recaps as always. Thanks for makin my day !!

    • CitizenErased says:

HAHAHA they wouldn’t give me a job, honey. I’d do mean things to sooooo many characters. But thanks for the vote of confidence.

      • billsbaby says:

I vote for you to be a writer for the show too, CE…..mostly because of what I know you would do to some of the characters! LOL
Great recap…..the show this week nearly derailed all the good episodes in one fell swoop! This season has been so good and then they allow this episode to almost ruin it. Very little of it made any sense and seeing Sookie running over to Fangtasia to ask Eric why she shouldn’t trust Bill then kissing him was so mindblowingly STUPID and hard to watch!! The kiss was even worse! Made no sense at all!!
Mr. Ball, PLEASE….don’t use these writers again!! They just tossed their ideas into a hat, drew a few out and went with those even if they weren’t connected to what has already happened on the show or even belonged in the show at all! Not good.

      • jay says:

mean things….yeah yeah do it do it!!!
gotta vote with me CE :)

      • gattopardo says:

CE, you’re so bloody brilliant that whatever ringer you’d put said characters through, it would be exquisitely done. and heck, you know how much I likes the big bad sheriff of nasty… just remember, if you run out of pirañas or the TB budget does not allow for a catapult, I’m happy to step in as punishment enforcer. me and my silver bangles.

  9. mozella says:

i love your recaps, they’re so perfectly snarky. but this time i have to disagree with one point you made. when Eric and Bill have their little confrontation, i don’t think the challenge about telling the truth is totally about the fairy stuff at all. Bill looked a bit too shifty and uncomfortable when he told Sookie it was about her being a fairy. me thinks there’s more to the lie than just that. we’ll see, hopefully, in the next 2 episodes and not leave that just hanging there for another 9 months, lol ;)

  10. lake86 says:

why is it that bill can feel sookie’s in danger, but he doesn’t feel her lust of wanting eric inside her? does not compute.

  11. Liz79 says:

CE! You got mad skills. Mad skills. Thank you for this!

A few (rambling thoughts). To Konfetti, great post btw, I agree with most of what you said except for Bill and his supposed half-truths. I don’t think he kinda forgot to mention that one becomes sexually attracted to vamp blood if they ingest it. I think he kinda wanted to save her life. Probably because she saved his. I mean we can say that Jess doesn’t know about the sexual attraction aspect of vamp blood but she didn’t waste any time trying to get Hoyt to drink from her to heal. Personally, I think the whole “sexually attracted to someone because of their vamp blood” was more of a device used by the writers to introduce the Eric/Sookie dreams thus giving us some sexy times between the two of them and ramping up the interest in them eventually hooking up and less than some semi-devious/half truth of Bill’s. Bad plot device. Bad! As for not telling her about walking in the light. To be honest it didn’t even dawn on me that he left that out or that it mattered. I come at that with a big ole meh. Since he went on about her blood and not feeding off of her etc. Maybe it’s also because he so readily gave whatever info on that matter he had to Eric. If he sidestepped Sookie I don’t see why he wouldn’t do the same to Eric. Again, maybe it’s the writing.

I’m interested to see why and who sent Bill to Bon Temps. To me that’s the mystery of the season and I’m frankly loving it. I get the idea that his hands are tied, may not be a sufficient excuse to Sookie (which I understand) but to me it is, and I’m gagging to find out how/who.

My favorite moment of the ep was the short and very sweet scene with Bill and Jess. From the way he was there almost the instant he felt her fear to the way they held each other to how lovingly he put his hand on her face to make sure she was OK and understood his point. I flirted with the idea of them being “together” but I’ve realized I just love them when they are together. It’s been nice seeing their relationship go from strangers to where they are now and wherever they will be in the future. Yay Daddy Bill and baby Jess!

As for Eric – I think he can learn how to use his words. Even if you’re dealing with a dumbass (sorry Sook) who will go right if you tell her to go left I think a few words, and maybe a more gentle placement to the floor, would have been nice. I think he is definitely fond of Sookie and maybe I’m picking up on something, maybe I just want these two to be buddies, but Bill as well. So, I don’t see him going all Big Bad on anyone soon. Plus, if they are going to do the amnesia storyline they have to show complete opposites for it to have the desired effect on Sookie (and the audience).

I’m interested to see how they pull this together. Here’s hoping the last two efforts are more cohesive that this weeks!

    • konfettii says:

Oh chica, I totally agree much of the ‘problems’ have been with the writing as CE pointed out. This particular episode, even though I still enjoyed more of it than I didn’t, made my head hurt. I’m trying really hard to go with the flow here but the inconsistencies are trying my patience.

My mini rant on Bill was supposed to have been in but it got edited out in the posting process somehow, so it came off more angry than I intended.

I think you’re probably right in that S2 needed a way for some E/S sexy time, and probbaly added that attraction thing in to get it. (Since I’m not a fan of manufactured relationships, this pisses me off, but now it’s canon for the show so I guess I’ll deal. We did get that funny scene with Sam and Bill, bright side)

Just write me off as a very frustrated fangirl right now. I might need to be medicated in the two weeks we have to wait between 11 and 12 :)

      • konfettii says:

hehe it did it again. Okay, the mini rant was suppsoed to be in brackets. Guess the board doesn’t allow those *facepalm*

        • Liz79 says:

Ha! Oh, I totally get what you’re saying about being frustrated with the inconsistencies. Girl, me too! I think that’s why when I do get riled up it’s at the writers and not the characters. My personal opinion is that they are trying to move both Bill and Eric to the side to make room for Alcide. What was it that you said about manufactured relationships? :) I feel beaten about the head with “Vampires bad. Hey, check out this shiny, chesty werewolf!” It’s so plain to see, and all of these plot devices are becoming too obvious for my taste and it seems quite a few others.

I just don’t get how they are going to make the QSA thing even remotely believable. I mean it’s just so filled with holes. Like why tell Eric that Bill should rot if he was on some important mission to acquire Sookie? I could go on and on but I’m tired :). I can only enjoy the show if I give universal passes to everyone – except maybe Tara. I’m over the bugging eyes and lip quivering.

I’m enjoying the show but I’m increasingly going why is he/she doing that when last week they said this? Would you mind sharing some of that medication with me to help me get through the wait as well :)?

          • ZZ says:

Maybe the Queen sold Eric and she was the one who sent the Magister to get Eric & Pam. SO maybe the “Let him rot” was just a fake?

          • Liz79 says:

            Hmmm…good point!

I guess I expected her to be more concerned about Bill’s whereabouts than she was. Since we all seem to think that acquiring Sookie would be a top priority for her. And honestly the way I’d use Sookie if I were QSA would be to geth the telepath to come read some human IRS minds and then glamour them. Instead of buying a crapload of lotto tickets. *Shrugs* I guess if there was a scene where she puzzled about Bill’s disappearance it would have been good set-up for the reveal that she sent Bill. As it stands now it just seems like she’s highly uninterested in Bill. We shall see!

            • ZZ says:

You know the biggest concern for me is how difficult it seems to set a plan to kill a 3,000 years old vampire as RE and then Jason with a gun and some wooden bullets makes the job that easy -killing Franklin- Eric and Bill should hire him to end with their problem.

          • konfettii says:

Of course I’ll share! The name of the pharmacists I use are Jack and Daniel.
I think Sam knows them :P

    • cr says:

Excellent and interesting point on the sexual blood ties.

I am a fan of the character of Eric. But the way he is portrayed on the show, and the way the other characters and storylines differ from the book, even amnesia on the part of both Sookie and Eric isn’t going to make a ‘relationship’ believable.

So if it’s going to be a false relationship, please don’t bother.

I think Sookie being relationship free for awhile is not a bad idea at all. Perhaps she and Tara can go shopping for vibrators on an upcoming episode.

  12. BillFan45 says:

Great recap as usual, CE. You made an almost totally uncomfortable episode seem humorous.

I loved the look on Jessica’s face as she is giving Hoyt her blood; it was a look of love. She was so happy to be saving her man. It looked like his femoral artery was severed; he would not have lasted long without her blood. Jess and Hoyt’s scenes were the best of the whole dreary episode.

Mozella, I think Bill looked uncomfortable and shifty because he is clearly still hiding the fact that he was sent by Sophie Anne. As Sookie told Jason, it hurts a lot more when someone finds out you are withholding secrets like that. I am sure that this will be the deathknoll for Bill and Sookie as it is in the books. She has forgiven a lot this episode and that will to be seen as the final beytrayal. Of course, that will be Eric’s way to get to her. Since Sookie seems to willingly suffer from a form of Stockholm Syndrome, the big, blonde will win. Yuk!

I still don’t think Bill knew why QSA wanted Sookie, only that he was ordered to get close to her. Last season, QSA seemed quite surprised that Bill had fallen in love with Sookie. It didn’t look like she was happy with that fact.

I still don’t know how QSA figured out Sookie was a fairy, I just don’t see how Hadley could have known that; she doesn’t seem too bright. It can’t be the telepathy because it isn’t from her fairy side. If it is, does that make Barry a fairy too?

I think the vampire attraction to fairy blood is more than its taste and smell. The vampires must have figured out a long time ago that it allows them to walk in the sun, and that is why they fed on them until they were almost totally extinct. I think that is probably what Claudine meant when she warned Sookie about Bill wanting to steal her light, only it’s the wrong vampire she is warning her about. Having one of the last people with fairy blood under your control must be like the best Christmas present ever for QSA and KRE. Hadley said they were going to do terrible things to Sookie, I can just imagine what.

After becoming Christmas turkey for KRE and Eric, Sookie would be wise to put some distance between her and Bon Temps, but then of course, we won’t have next season.

  13. Magdalena says:

Great recap, CE! Although, I might be the only person who cannot stand Bill’s “Sookeh I luhv you so much” speeches. I think part of it is that his accent still isn’t quite right, and the other part is that he’s usually trying to distract her from something else (I killed your uncle; I am keeping something from you). Bill, you have got a lot more ‘splainin to do. At least he is mending his ways as a Vampire Dad, because I always want more Jessica and that poor girl needs a mentor.

    • CitizenErased says:

I’m always a puddle on the floor at Bill’s reckless, deliciously enunciated romanticism. Even if he’s being an ass. Works for me better than being chucked in dungeons (unless having my ass thrown in a dungeon is leading to hot sex somewhere comfy), but that’s me.

Thanks for the snark appreciation ladies. Due to Real World overload, today’s pretty pictures and captions are brought to you by ZZ. Muchas Gracias, ma’am.

      • Sarah UK says:

Echo this CE and thanks to ZZ for great caps too !

      • Magdalena says:

Hey, no one said it had to be one or the other, dungeons or suspiciously long-winded love confessions. If it were me I’d probably take sad, boring wok-cooked steak breakfasts with shaggy canine construction workers over being involved in vampire politics any day. But then again I’d make for boring television.

  14. Crazy4Bill says:

    My favourite screen caption:

Jessica, you should marry this man… then, eat his Mama!

CE, you are a genius at doing these. I don’t want you ever to stop.
I agree with everything you said, this episode was kinda odd, to say the least.
The Lala-Jesus trip was like an acid flashback and reminded me of a scene in 2001, A Space Odyssey. We all saw that movie stoned, but hey, this is not the 60s. It went on far too long for my taste.
Nice to see Talbot again, he is the character whose final death I actually feel sad about. I enjoyed his kvetchiness thoroughly. I’d rather have him back than Wolfman Alcide, who is totally meh, IMHO.
I loved the Jessica/Hoyt tender moment, and I have to say I despise Tommy completely.
The Sam flashback to when he was violent just didn’t work for me, it was way too contrived.
Eric either acted like a milquetoast or like a douche. Either way, I didn’t like him. Pam was certainly wearing a pair in this episode, and even though she encouraged Eric to use the Sookster, I have to respect her. Now that’s a real vampire!
I agree that Sookie is lacking in the brains department big time, but I think it’s the fault of the two writers.
I’m getting fed up with wondering who Bill is working for, so let’s finally see it and put it behind us. If we have to see Eric and Sookie hook up (please let it be brief), I’d rather get it over with sooner, rather than later, but I think we’ll obviously have to wait until Season 4.
All in all, this season has been excellent, but AB should dump the asses of those two writer chicks. Even Nancy Oliver has been better this year than they were. Hopefully, the last two episodes will be written by the incomparable Raelle Tucker and AB.

  15. BillFan45 says:

Magdalne, I may be in the minority, but I just love it when Bill says, “Sookeh, and I love all his love talk; he has certainly talked that way even when he is not trying to hide something from her. It comes from the heart in my opinion.

Sookie knows all about the uncle; she left Bill for a while because of that. She knows about Lorena, and she knows that Bill had sex with her, and she has apparently forgiven him for all of that. I agree what she doesn’t know is why Bill first met her in the first place, and that will probably be his undoing. His “I returned to Bon Temps because it is my ancestral home.” is just not convincing to me either, and I am a Bill fan.

I have no doubt that Bill truly loves Sooke, but he should have come clean with her when he had the chance. I love Bill dearly, but sometimes he is not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to understandng her. People forget that Sookie is the first human he has tried to have a relationship with and he makes plenty of stupdi mistakes.

Crazy4Bill, I know the Sookie/Eric hook up is coming, probably next season. I too hope it is short, but I won’t get my hopes up. It will probably go on for 3 seasons at least.

    • Aemac says:

i was having a good day until I read “it’ll prolly go on for 3 seasons at least.” Gag me, seriously, throw me down the stairs, it’ll be easier than watching Sookie be with Eric for any length of time. I hope you’re wrong with your guesses BillFan45.

      Once again, Great Re-cap!

      • Sarah UK says:

Same here Aemac – really cant stress enough how much i am not looking forward to watching the inevitable hook up and have faith that it isn’t going to turn out exactly as expected . Come on AB and writers don’t let me down !

      • Crazy4Bill says:

Three seasons? I think not, I think it will all be next season. This show probably won’t go beyond five seasons, six max, if you take into consideration other HBO series. They have to do and wrap it up in one season, CH’s books are irrelevant to this.
I still want Bill to tell Sookie that the Viking sent for Lorena, that’s a big black mark against him. Please, please, please let it happen!

        • Sarah UK says:

Sadly don’t think it would make the slightest bit of difference if Bill did tell her about that Crazy4Bill …think the inevitable hook up is going to happen no matter what !

        • billsbaby says:

It makes me sick that she never found out that Eric was behind Lorena coming back in the first place. Now look at what all has happened because of Lorena…but Bill is going to be drawn and quartered because he didn’t tell her why he met her in the first place….nevermind that she knows he fell in love with her regardless of why he met her. It’s like gagging on a gnat and swallowing a camel in comparison IMO. Everything Bill has gone through has been because of his love for Sookie. Everything. His first priority even when he faced death himself was to protect her. But all of that is just washed down the drain and the reason he came to Bon Temps stands out as the biggest crime of the century. I just don’t get that. Everyone else has gotten away literally with murder, but every little thing Bill has ever done or even thought about doing has to be apologized profusely for and punished to the fullest extent of Sookie’s wrath. I just don’t get that.

          • Sarah UK says:

When you consider all the above that you have mentioned billsbaby it is bemusing as to why Bill should be castiagted , if indeed he is ! I still have hopes that things are going to turn out differently to what everyone is expecting in the long run .

        • flexy633 says:

If the Eric/Sook thing goes on for three seasons, I’ll be fast forwarding through all of their scenes.

      • jay says:

i feel for bill fans who really dont want to see eric and sookie together for a period of time…I wonder what they are gonna do with bill?…It wont last 3 seasons, just 1 then it will go back to a lingering tension/attraction and bumpin hips every now and again!

  16. Sarah UK says:

Great recap CE – have been looking forward to reading this all day . Totally agree with a lot of what you have said especially about the great Sookie revelation , the over long Lafayette and Jesus V trip and Sookie’s stupidty .

Loved Bill and Jess and Jessica and Hoyt but wonder what effect Jessica’s blood will have on Hoyt in the future – apart from healing his nasty wounds of course .

As for Bill’s big secret/ lie i am becoming more convinced that it will not be that much of a great deal when it is revealed – i think that yes he was sent by QSA to find Sookie but that he didn’t know what Sookie was and has genuinely fallen for her. Always thought personally that book Sookie over-reacted so am hoping tv Sookie will show a bit more common sense and not over-react/ rebound with Eric. Hoping they will get the Bill secret out of the way this week so that we can all concentrate on the finale showdown !

    • billsbaby says:

Frankly, I don’t see how it could be such a big deal either, Sarah….and Sookie needs to be honest with Bill as well about her “feelings” or whatever it is about other men. She told Tara that she didn’t cheat but she wanted to…and now she has kissed Eric. Does she not think honesty goes both ways? What Bill did with Lorena, he admitted to her immediately…even though IMO he only did what he did out of frustration and hopelessness and maybe Sookie understands that since he had been literally tortured both mentally and physically by his kidnappers. We know Bill won’t demand anything from her, but she sure won’t be forthcoming with the information either. Yet she gets all bent out of shape over Bill not telling her why he came to town? Horsehockey!

  17. Zoe says:

I think Sophie Ann is content to let Bill rot because he is now standing in the way of her acquiring the Stupster. She didn’t send him to Bon Temps to drink her blood and seduce her, he was probably sent to glamor the prize and bring her to the Queen. Of course the Queen wouldn’t tell Bill that Sookie’s Blood has magical day walking properties, just that she’s a valuable telepath. The Queen was scared that Eric would try her in Season 2 because she probably knew damn well that an in love Eric would be a far more formidable adversary to her getting the prize than a baby Vampire like Bill.

And it is not inconsistent with the writing to have the Vamp blood cause lustiness. When Bill was asking Sookie if she wanted the blood the Ratray’s had taken out because it would enhance her libido, she replied that she didn’t want it and had no sex life to speak of. As soon as he got his blood into her she was masturbating all over the place and could think of nothing but his cock. I remember a rather off putting scene on his front porch in broad daylight.

As for the amount of V, when people are getting high, they only have a drop or two. Jason got that massive case of wood after he downed the whole vial in the back of the police car and LaLa told him he shouldn’t have it all at once.

  18. GoEric says:

CE, I really enjoy your reviews… may favourite line was “….ramping up the “who’s the bigger douche” competition (seriously Sookie, get a vibrator)” – yeah, I’ve come to believe Sookie should end up with Terry.
I wasn’t pissed off by the ending, I just enjoyed it and had a great laugh. Well if I was Sookie I would have been pissed off that I did not get the same dungeon treatment as Yvetta. :-)))
Eric throwing Sookie over his shoulder was just damn hot sexy… I love me some badboy Viking caveman, I think.

    • CitizenErased says:

Someone needs to throw that girl a drunken ladies sex toy party at the Stackhouse residence. I’d wanna see that. As I have said before, I detest the Harris books but I would really like this season to end as Club Dead ends, with the Sook kicking both Bill AND Eric out of her house. I’d say I’m totally over vampires as BF’s if Alcide wasn’t so booooooooring.

      • Sarah UK says:

Now that ending i wouldn’t mind seeing CE …Sookie needs some space to get her act together !

      • GoEric says:

I totally agree, that would be the best ending and as AB said there is no person in the last take it could just be Sookies closed door…. and yes, I’m all in for that said party!

      • BillFan45 says:

With Claude and Dermot ending up sleeping with Sookie in the same bed at the end of DITF, I wouldn’t be surpirsed if Sookie ends up with a fairy in the books and becomes Queen of the Fae. The fairies just don’t seem like real beings in AB’s world yet, just things that appear in dreams.

Next season, I could do with a lot more sex and a lot less violence and gore. The blood fountains and goo are beyond disgusting. I would like to see Sookie go to a shrink and find out why she just keeps on putting herself in danger and keep expecting a different result. She is either dumber than a box of rocks or just insane.

I won’t spend money on the next CH novel, Dead Reckoning, but I will watch season 4 to see what happens to Bill’s character. He will always be the most interesting character to me.

      • konfettii says:

I’d be there checkbook in hand! I have sworn off all males, and with femmes being so insane I can’t go there anyway. there has to be some new gadgets on the market since my last purchase in 1993,,,,,

  19. BillFan45 says:

    Aeman,

I sure hope she doesn’t stay with Eric for 3 years either. That would make me gag. I just can’t see her forgiving him after the mental and physical abuse he’s aleady done. Yes, I think tricking her into taking his blood so he could get into her mind and also have his own GPS tracking device on her is abuse, as is his latest acts. Letting KRE suck on her for any reason is abuse too. But the Sookster suffers from Eric big gracious plenty syndrome, so, of course she will forgive him even as she castigates Bill.

I doubt very much that QSA was afraid that Eric would fall in love with Sookie even if he finds her blood compelling. She knows Eric quite well and I am sure she knows he doesn’t fall in love with humans. However, since he is older and therefore more powerful than she, that would make her think twice about letting him know about her.

Someone said that we may find out that Bill wasn’t sent by QSA afterall, I sure hope that is the case.

  20. Boopsahoy says:

Wonderful recap CE-I love Wenesdays because of you!.. I disagreed with you on one point-I LIKED SAm with the slicked back hair-but then again I also LOVED Bill that way too! Other than that I agrees with you 300%!

3 years? KMN (kill me now) NO WAY!

Thanks again CE for your wonderful recap and I also vote for you as a writer for the show

    • cr says:

I don’t think the writers are going to have any relationship last 3 years, much less Sookie/Eric, should that actually happen.

  21. dancing fae says:

i am getting used to your wonderful recaps now, looking forward to them almost as much as a new episode every week! You constantly bring things to my attention that i missed the first three or four watchings of the episode.

    thank you so much!

what will we do without you during the break inbetween seasons?

  22. jay says:

The show is ramping up the unforgiveable behaviour of both Bill and Eric..Although Bills secret has not come out yet. It will soon! The difference with the two is that Eric will get to redeem himself with his amnesiac episode and sookie will see another side to him. She will have the same question she does in the books. Knowing this, discussing Erics bad behaviour over the series is not gonna change the fact that I will probaby love seeing the softer side of Eric next season. Even if it is fake Eric! I know I will enjoy it so everything that has happened, and is gonna happen between eric and sookie before the amnesia is already water under the bridge for me. I just cant wait to see eric and sookie for a little while! Then she can go back to her true love/soul mate bill…eventually…hopefully!! :)

    • billsbaby says:

Bill’s “unforgiveable behavior”? So you think his “secret” is going to be worse than what Eric did to her Sunday and is going to do next episode? ‘Splain, please.

  23. Cranky says:

    Brilliant CE!
I’ll disagree about the ending. Loved Eric getting the yappy stupid bitch chained up…and I’m an Eric fan.

  24. TBfan says:

So, Tara is bitter, deserves to be killed off and is heinous because she’s rightfully terrified and has a hate for vampires? How many people would be skipping through the daisies if they had withstood everything this girl has in a couple of weeks? Let’s countdown her tragedies. She was possessed by a Maenad and made to do awful things. Her boyfriend was killed. She was raped, kidnapped, terrorized and abandoned. Then to have said rapist come back and threaten to kill her. Oh…and her childhood hero and savior just informed her that he was the one that really killed Eggs. Just because her storyline doesn’t involve which vampire everyone wants her to get with doesn’t make her a disposable character. There are some of us that like to see real reactions to tragic situations. It’s ridiculous to me when people expect her character to just get over such major tragedies in her life and pretend like nothings happened because it’s unpleasant to witness the real aftermath.

  25. BillFan45 says:

Even if he hasn’t been totally honest with Sookie, nothing Bill has done so far has been unforgivable. He’s never tried to deliberately hurt her and he has never intentionally put her life in danger. I don’t want to see Sookie with Eric at all because he has and will do both. So far all he has done is try to use Sookie for his own agenda.

Except that is is a plot device, what is the point of Sookie being with an amnesiac Eric, even for a little while? The softer side of Eric isn’t the real Eric. I just don’t see a cold heartless authoritarian control freak, who likes to torture humans and was a former viking raider who pillaged and looted for a living acting like a lost little boy just because he has amnesia, not unless he had a frontal lobotomy at the same time. Even in the books, that plot device was not believable.

If Sookie is going to hook up with someone else, I would prefer it be Alcide or Quinn, at least they haven’t tried to use her yet on the show.

  26. Amy says:

‘Alas, Show Gods, there are critical fans around who can string two sentences together, who are not distracted by shiny things and naked bits, and who are here to call you out on your crimes against consistency and believability’…. After I read this, I stood up out of my chair and applauded, and gave you a “woot woot”. The best thing about this whole season is reading your recaps. I have consistantly screamed at the television all season, cursing and stomping and driving my hubs insane, but I love it anyways. I’m pretty sure the writers this season are all on a bad batch of V. I do agree with everything you say in your wonderfully written reviews of this hot mess of a show. I love the books so much that I can’t bring myself to say to hell with the show- too many shiny things and naked bits to keep me coming back!! Keep up the good work hookah :)

  27. TeamSookie says:

“Bill’s “unforgiveable behavior”? So you think his “secret” is going to be worse than what Eric did to her Sunday and is going to do next episode? ‘Splain, please.”

Personally I don’t think it matters if it’s worse or not, probably won’t be worse but you don’t pick someone just because “well yes you did something bad but hey it’s not worse than the other guy so might as well stay with you”

You decide that you are not gonna take crap from anyone and not excuse anyone. I don’t want the man only because his actions were bad but not as bad as the other guy, it doesn’t take away from what that person does, their betrayal is still there. No matter what Eric does, the pain of what she finds out will still hurt, she’ll just be fed up with both and I don’t blame her one bit. I’d rather be single than deal with any of that.

It’s easy to look at things from an outside perspective but from the person who deals with the pain they will have a different outlook. Problem is once you find out somebody was dishonest with you, you will have trust issues with the person and have a hard time letting go of the lies and will second guess things in the future. This is why trust and honesty are at the very top of the list in any relationship, once you don’t have that then the relationship suffers.

He loves her and has saved her life, but what if a man saved your life but then cheated on you after? do you excuse the betrayal because they previously did a good thing? I think most wouldn’t, you’d think ok thanks i’ll always be grateful to you for saving my life but I can’t forgive what you’ve done.

I think what Eric did in episode 10 was horrible and hated to see that, and I don’t think she should forgive him.

But the thing is that she’ll hate Eric and just decide to move on with her life wanting no association with him as she should. She doesn’t love him so she’ll be pissed but not broken hearted. She never really trusted him so there won’t be this big trust broken. So if she is more pissed at Bill it won’t be because of the action itself it will only be because she does love him and it will break her heart and it will be harder for her to move on with her life since he has been a big part of her life or more like has been her life for past 2 months. She also put her trust in him 100% so when he breaks her trust, it will feel like a bigger betrayal even if the action is not as bad. This is something she wouldn’t expect from Bill, and it hurts a lot more when the person you trusted does something bad as opposed to the person you didn’t trust doing something bad. If your bf/husband screws you over and an acquaintance you have an attraction to screws you over(even if it’s alot worse) whose actions would hurt you more?

Maybe Alcide would be best now, I just wish I liked him more on the show.

  28. TeamSookie says:

I have to say I have missed having Bill and Eric in the same scenes, and yeah it was about time we saw this again. I prefer them as frenemies, they have some of the best scenes when they are being snarky with each other. I also liked seeing Sookie/Bill/Eric in the same scene even if it was very brief. I miss this part of the show and since the 3 of them are the most important characters on the show, it’s great to see them together for whatever reason it may be. I hope the show eventually gets back to this. SM and AS together are great.

  29. cocoablossoms says:

there is a new article somewhere about the finale and two important things are said. stephen says we will learn that bill’s secret is for the greater good of protecting sookie. sweet, loves it, figure that all along. alan says sookie will be tired of ALL the vampires in the end-for a moment. very, very interesting.

  30. Pat says:

Thanks, CE, for another great recap of a really crappy episode. The Jesus/Lala V trip looked more like the two of them were on a haunted house carnival ride. Very cheesy.

Sam’s flashback was a Sawyer on “Lost” retread—right down to the slicked back hair.

Alex looks really uncomfortable everytime he has to kiss Anna. I hope the Eric/Sookie thing never happens as Alex’s friendship with Stephen and (his now wife Anna) won’t allow him to “sex it up” as it has to be sexed up to be believable. And AB, please don’t give Eric amnesia and turn him into a wimp like every other guy Sookie gets ahold of. (She must have a huge testicle lock box she keeps her men’s balls in!) Just seeing him despairing in this episode was enough to turn me off…and I have great lust for Eric.

I thought it was odd that Eric knew why Sophie Ann sent Bill to Bon Temps. He also sounded like he was still loyal to her, which was also odd.

Even Pam was irritating in this episode (except for the “blah Vampire emergency blah” line). She is a very pretty woman but the make-up people make her look old. Lighten up on the make-up, okay?

Thanks gain, CE. Have you checked out the e-cigarettes yet to help you with the no smoking torture you are putting yourself through?

    • CitizenErased says:

E cigarettes? Um no. I think they’re a ridiculously expensive load of bollocks. Nothing will replace the real thing, but I’m pretty over it now, thanks for asking :) I was in the pub tonight and everyone went outside for one and I virtuously stayed put.

      • Pat says:

Proud of you, girl. I quit smoking about 18 years ago and it was the hardest thing I ever did. Super glad I did it though. No more stinky house or car or clothes.

  31. BillFan45 says:

Sookie knows about Bill having sex with Lorena, and she has forgiven him. Couples who love each other do that all the time, and it is their perogative.

Using some one for your own purposes; deliberately putting them in terrible danger, abusing them mentally and physically, as Eric did, is much worse than cheating the one time. Bill was only with Lorena that one night.

Besides, we still don’t know if having sex with Lorena was a deliberate and intentional act, or if it was coerced in some way by her maker’s hold over him; if it was, then Bill was not cheating. Even if it was consentual, Sookie knows about it and has already forgiven him. Bill is not screwing around with other women now. So there is no cheating to forgive. Case closed.

  32. Lividity says:

As always, helluva recap CE! My word, I stand by my assertion that you have the funniest recaps on the innernets. True dat!

  33. Acanthus says:

Billsfan45, I so enjoy your posts, and I can tell that you are deeply impassioned by the issues you raise. For me, the Eric/Sookie thing remains just an Errol Flynn moment (and I am not a rabid Eric fan nor a rabid Bill fan, just enjoy the whole mess). There is nothing real or in the realm of realism about TB, IMO. It isn’t Reservoir Dogs, it really isn’t anything more than an action/romance with vampire sexiness of the moment series – to me, anyway.

All the human women (and those who think they are human, and let’s not forget our new friends the Hot shot mob. ) get ill-treated in some fashion in TB. All of ‘em. You’ll have to take that up with Alan Ball and his writers, because they have created this undercurrent.

Those of us who are NOT outraged by Eric are not condoning the degrading, horrid mental and physical treatment real women are subject to in all real cultures. Rubbish to the Stockholm syndrome notion. I only can requote what one of the Site goddesses said elsewhere, some months ago. These are mythical creatures in a fictional series.

CitizenE’s magnificent recap seem to have been hijacked by the Bill and Eric Teams and the tedious, ridiculous (to quote Steve Moyer) Team screaming.

I’ll wait until Ep 11 to make my usual frivolous comments. This thread is no fun anymore.

    • CitizenErased says:

“CitizenE’s magnificent recap seem to have been hijacked by the Bill and Eric Teams and the tedious, ridiculous (to quote Steve Moyer) Team screaming.”

And I did warn people back in episode 2 that I would quit if I had to read that shit. Its starting to creep back in, isn’t it? How tedious.

    • BillFan45 says:

      Acanthus,

Of course I knot that this is just fiction, but I can’t help being upset by how this season is going. I thought he was bad in the books, but I really hate this evil version of Eric. I have a friend who was abused and she went for many years until she finally was able to say she had enough. Sookie reminds me of her.

The truth is I don’t think either AB has developed his character well at all. One would think that a being who has survived by his wits so long, would not be so impulsive and controlled by his emotion. Selfish and self absorbed, yeah I can see that, but not some sociopath who totally risks himself, Pam and Sookie to get revenge.
