Comic Book ERic Sookie Bill comic booksAs Michael McMillian exclusively revealed in the GodHatesFangs podcast, the 4th series of True Blood comics will be coming out soon.

A posting on the HBO Online Store for IDW Publishing’s “True Blood” ongoing series has revealed the full creative team on “True Blood” Series 4. The ongoing will be written by “Green Arrow” writer Ann Nocenti and “True Blood” actor Michael McMillian with creative collaboration from “True Blood” producer Alan Ball and art by Michael Gaydos. IDW initially posted the pre-order link on its Facebook Page with a cover image of “True Blood” #1. At this time, IDW has not released specific details were posted about the direction of the series or how it will link to the critically acclaimed HBO television show.

McMillian co-wrote IDW’s second “True Blood” series, “Tainted Love,” and is also known for his Archaia series “Lucid.” The writer/actor spoke with CBR News in 2011 about “Tainted Love” and his view on comics expanding the “True Blood” universe and mythology.

“I think the comic can play a role in exploring areas of the ‘True Blood’ world that the show may not be able to get to,” McMillian said. “Marc [Andreyko] came up with the wonderful idea of Tru Blood bottles getting contaminated with an element that causes vampires to go crazy. Since the bottled blood is the link between vampire/human relations, it’s such a great device to mess with. Tainting that symbolic connection seemed like an apt reflection of where vampire/human relations were left off in Season 3. On another level, the theme of contamination is at play with the main cast of characters. Their lives have been drastically affected since Bill walked into Sookie’s life. Are they themselves tainted? A lot of our characters kick off the series with a longing to return to the way things were before… to reclaim a feeling of lost, perhaps even false, innocence.”

IDW announced the “True Blood” ongoing series in late 2011 following three miniseries based on the television show: “True Blood: All Together Now,” “True Blood: Tainted Love” and “True Blood: The French Quarter.”

spoilers casting callKristin at E! is dishing out more Season 5 spoilers. They seem to love bringing on more baddies to the show. I say, bring ‘em on! If there wasn’t a high body count, it wouldn’t be True Blood, now would it?

Gail in Canton, Ohio: Love all the True Blood spoilers you’ve been giving us! Any more?
Vampires will have something else to fear besides werewolves, the sun and silver in the upcoming season of True Blood. This new dude is way, way worse. He’s…a redneck. And an anti-vampire one at that. This hunter will be a recurring character on T.B.‘s new season, so he’ll likely be raising all kinds of hell, like killing vamps and taking others prisoner. Want to hear the best part? His name is…wait for it…Joe Bob. You’re welcome.

Joe Bob’s casting call:

CAUCASIAN, EARLY 30s, White trash. An anti-vampire terrorist wearing an Obama mask to hide his identity, he shoots one vampire with a hunting rifle and takes his victim prisoner. Recurring.

So is Eric on Team Bill now too?

I know we’ve all heard about the bromance between Eric & Bill in Season 5 of True Blood, but it’s always nice to get a little more info on the subject, right? Kristin at E! gave us the scoop:

Eileen in Brooklyn: Anything you can tease about True Blood, like who is Sookie going to choose, Bill or Eric?
How about…neither? “We call it season of the bromance,” sexy star Alexander Skarsgård told us at a presser for his new movie Battleship. “We just started [filming] and we’re on episode four of season five. I have a lot with Steve [Stephen Moyer] this year,” he said, quipping, “Eric is very intrigued by Bill now.” Honestly, we’re Team Eric no matter whom he hooks up with (especially if he’s nekkid)! TV’s Top Couple round two, y’all?

After ringing the NASDAQ opening bell yesterday, Alexander Skarsgård & director Peter Berg joined Battleship co-star Taylor Kitsch at Hasbro’s American International Toy Fair showroom in New York. You might recognize Taylor from all of the promos for the upcoming film, John Carter (but he’ll always be Tim Riggins from Friday Night Lights to me). Battleship opens in the US on May 18, 2012, but sooner in other countries.

Update: The toy pic that was added is from Mike Ryan who tweeted this pic the other day with this caption, “Alexander Skarsgard has his own life-size Battleship Kre-O figure.” Mike is Senior writer at HuffPost/AOL’s Moviefone. Not what I was picturing for a life-sized Alexander Skarsgård figure…
