Panther on True Blood Set
Werewolves, step aside. As this exclusive photo reveals, a panther has been spotted on the set of True Blood, and she’ll will make her on-screen debut in mid-August.
Could this be a sign that the series is tearing a page from Charlaine Harris’ books and transforming Jason Stackhouse into a werepanther?
While Ryan Kwanten confirms, “I’ve been working with the panthers and they’re a lot cooler than the wolves,” creator Alan Ball only says, “We have shot some scenes with actual panthers in the same way we have shot with actual wolves. But I won’t say there are or aren’t werepanthers on the show.”

I was wondering if AB was going to bring that into his storyline. Of course, it doesn’t necessarily mean the Jason turning furry 3 days a month, might just mean revealing the ‘secret’ of Hot Shot.
I’d already surmised that black leopards would be appearing this season, as one was easily discernable in the Jason Minisode revealed before S3 even began airing… so this is no surprise at all. However, any shots of big cats are always a great treat. I expect two leopards to be used; as it is customary for two animals to work a role in order for one to be given a rest break while the other films. We already know that the Exotics firm contracted for the wolves has two black leopards… an older male and female. These are doubtlessly the big cats used for TB S3. Speaking from personal experience, I guarantee, however, that access to the leopards will be FAR more restricted than with the wolves. Big cats are a whole different kettle of fish, and actors/crew will be under even stricter orders about proper behaviour and distance. Most likely, the leopard’s trainer alone will do most of the close work with the cats. I cannot wait to see them.
They need to get to this part of Jason’s story already because as of now his scenes aren’t all that interesting and I usually love Jason’s scenes. Panthers are such gorgeous animals, can’t wait.
Ever since the first epeside of season 3 when jason was whereing the panther hat ( pather on his ball cap) I have been weighting for this to happen. I think that jason cought felton norris during the drug raid and that may be how jason gets bitten.

Here are the two black leopards whom I’m sure will be the cats utilized in True Blood S3. They are brother and sister, and you can see the obvious sexual dimorphism in that the male is significantly more massive than his sister. How very synchronicitous that the female is named, appropriately, Crystal.
Gorgeous panther – can’t wait to see how he/she is incorporated in the series !!

And she made the exact sound as her big cousins!!!

this show is going to have to be extended into 2 hours with all of these characters being added…. At the rate they are going, it’s gonna be about 3 minutes per character per episode!
As beautiful an animal as this is, I hope it’s Crystal or someone else from Hotshot. I’m not a fan of the Jason/panther story line, didn’t really see that it was all the relevant. It would be more interesting to have him human and the relationship with Crystal.
Anything is more interesting than his current story to tell you the truth. I mean this whole Kitch thing they brought in is a little pathetic. They have Jason jealous of a HS kid and hitting on a HS girl. It needs to get better, and him not being able to study for a police exam. I like Jason and want to be more interested in his story, luckily he still has some funny lines but otherwise i don’t care for his scenes.
how can they confirm that there are scenes shot with panthers but wont confirm if there are werepanthers on the show?…its so obvious! lol…i dont know why they try to keep us guessing when its blatantly obvious!!!
In the books, Jason is like half man- half panther. That would look totally Thundercats on screen *sniggers* Anyway, that kitty cat is beautiful, but I want Were cheetahs myself ;)
