Thanks to Kristin Bauer we can enjoy the first sight of the cast in this newly released pic. Judging by the last season 2 promos, I think it’s safe to look for some symbolic clues in the photo. What are your thoughts about it? Expect more pics coming soon!
First thing I noticed is Jessi’s ‘slattern-ish’ position. And is she looking over at Pam? Those two are wearing the same color dress, too.
Lafayette is looking askance at someone, (Eric?) staying away.

Tara and Sam are close together, they are eyeing something or someone with not happy faces. (Pam?)
Eric looks ready to pounce and his gaze is far forward, looking over the top of the others.
Bill and Sookie are very together, and there is a serpeant slithering it’s way toward them.
Jason is eyeing Lafayette. Maybe he wants some more V ha!

This is a classic HBO shot. They did the same thing with the Soprano’s and I loved it then as well. Jessica being in the foreground may be indicative to her roll this year. Deborah Ann Woll steals the pic, IMO! Look at her – she not only looks deadly, but she is fiercely hot looking.
There are skulls on the ground which is probably the indication of more deaths.
And everyone looks suspicious of each other except for: Biil, Sookie and Eric – they are looking right at YOU. :)

First and foremost, Bill and Sookie are VERY together. YEAH!! That is such a sensual, suggestive, possessive position. Absolutely LOVE IT!
Also the snake moving towards them signifying trouble coming their way.
I think we will see a whole new Jessica, without Bill to help her mainstream, she will go vamp wild.
What I would like to really remark upon is that I believe Laff is looking at Pam. I have a theory that it was Pam that abducted Laff to “Erics dungeon of doom”. She also mentions to Eric that she was hoping to keep him, plus she is the one giving him the V. So I think there is more to these two. It is definitely a hate/hate relationship.
I would have liked to have seen the wolf taking a big bite of viking a*s, but I will keep my wishful thinking to myself…….LOL.

Eric’s glaze is rageous, probably he is experiencing the avenge feeling that we already know it will exist. The were may work for Eric since he is behind him, like waiting for orders?

I think the snake is looking beyond Bill and Sookie to Eric. Jess is looking at the snake. Laf is looking straight ahead- look at his eyes. The rest I agree with.
I noticed that both the snake and the wolf have orange eyes. Alan Ball said that the werewolves would have orange eyes, so does that mean that the snake is a weresnake? Or, in a Biblican sense, the snake represents temptation.
I noticed a skull on the ground under Sookie too, very Shapespearian!

I’m sure there’s plenty of clues in this airbrushed-and-’shopped-to-hell-and-back photo, but mostly I find all the analysis amusing – in a good way. Speculation is entertaining, if completely meaningless. :-)
Is that a 2nd dark shaded snake in the shadow of the log behind the 1st prominent snake? It looks like it’s watching Jessica. A 3rd possible snake is wrapped around the wood post that Jessica and Eric are leaning on. Possible 2nd skull on the ground near Lafayette with pink flowers growing over it. Roll on June!!!

I think Eric being in that position means he has manipulated or has come into all the other characters lives, whether good or bad – he has centrally affected the others and that is why he is in the middle (actually he is to the left). He is not dominant – he shares with the characters with Bill and Sookie being the main characters. He is looming like he is about to strike – like a snake. Maybe that is why the snake is looking at him?? Bill and Sookie look very good lying on that log, don’t you think??
I was thinking the same thing, Lizzie….since Eric IS a snake himself, how fitting for the snake to be looking his way? Could we hope that he might actually have to be held responsible for some of his actions this next season? He has definitely interfered in Bill and Bill/Sookies lives as well as Lafayette’s and I for one hope it comes back to bite him in the ass.

looks like the werewolf is looking @ the snake, so maybe the snake represents debbie pelt. But it also seems like its attention is @ bill and sookie 2 the same time, so maybe the snake is representation of debbie pelt and lorena.

Hmm, I spotted 3 snakes (clearly) in the pic. The longest one is near Bill/Sookie – and my, is that python (boa?) long or what?. One is near Jessica’s feet, much smaller. And one is behind Pam on the tree. I don’t know if its bad photo-shopping or deliberate but the snake behind Pam looks like its rear has been chopped off, by some really clumsy butcher. LOL!
I am wondering why did they use boas and pythons and not some venomous snake like Cobra or Rattle snake or Viper. These big snakes are all muscle and they constrict their prey before devouring rather than by poisoning them. Does that mean its gonna be a choking relationship season, but no poisonous bite? As for the Biblical symbolism, I am not sure whether the Serpent was venomous or non-venomous of snakes, I am an atheist so I have little idea about religious mythology apart from what Supernatural and Constantine (the film) have shown me (no offense to anyone with religious beliefs).
Hmm, I just discovered two more (may be). The one is on the gnarled tree stump on which Jess is resting her hand. Too short, and might not be a boa or python. The another one, and I am not so sure of this one, is at the very left end of the picture. Its not even clear if its a snake hiding coiled around a branch or just some part o the tree. Its just that the gleam of its skin (?) looks suspicious to me. That one is rather thin though.
