As Joe flips through the AC/DC discs, a teenager in a black heavy metal T-shirt walks up to him and rapidly says, “I’m going to be annoying, but I’ve got to shake your hand. I am obsessed with the show and I love the werewolves.”

“Thanks, brother,” Manganiello replies. “There’s going to be a whole new pack of werewolves on this season.” He happily poses for some photos, towering over the fan. It’s easy to picture Manganiello as a teen metalhead/raver asking his favorite monster to pose with him for a souvenir.

Manganiello continues browsing and adds a Black Rebel Motorcycle Club CD to his stack. “I love my job so much,” he says. “It utilizes each part of my eclectic personality. There’s the kid who loves monsters, and I can be athletic, but I also love history and I can research wolves and Southern dialects. The dialogue is so rich — it’s Tennessee Williams with Chekhovian layers — and that fulfills my bookwormy playwright side. I’m so fortunate. Plus, I get to have a beard all the time.”

Our friends at AlexSkarsgard.net have confirmed that Alexander Skarsgård will be attending the 2012 FILM INDEPENDENT SPIRIT AWARDS on Saturday. The awards will be shown on IFC at 10:00 p.m. ET. The event will be held in Santa Monica, CA. His film, Melancholia, which he stars in along side Kirsten Dunst, Kiefer Sutherland and Charlotte Gainsbourg, has been nominated for Best International Film.

Awards are given in the following categories: Best Feature, Best First Feature, Best First Screenplay, Best Director, Best Screenplay, John Cassavetes Award (given to the best feature made for a budget under $500,000), Best Male Lead, Best Female Lead, Best Supporting Male, Best Supporting Female, Best Cinematography, Best International Film, Best Documentary, and the Robert Altman Award.  The Filmmaker Grants include the Piaget Producers Award, Someone to Watch Award, Nokia Truer Than Fiction Award and Jameson FIND Your Audience Award.

Nelsan Ellis and Alfre Woodard, both nominated for outstanding acting, attended the 43^rd NAACP Image Awards held Feb. 17 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.  Nelsan, in his trademark hat and bow tie, presented an award with Archie Panjabi from “The Good Wife” during the ceremony.  Alfre, who was nominated for her work on “Memphis Beat,” brought son, Duncan Spencer, as her date for the night. A posting on the HBO Online Store for IDW Publishing’s “True Blood” ongoing series has revealed the full creative team on “True Blood” Series 4. The ongoing will be written by “Green Arrow” writer Ann Nocenti and “True Blood” actor Michael McMillian with creative collaboration from “True Blood” producer Alan Ball and art by Michael Gaydos. IDW initially posted the pre-order link on its Facebook Page with a cover image of “True Blood” #1. At this time, IDW has not released specific details were posted about the direction of the series or how it will link to the critically acclaimed HBO television show.

McMillian co-wrote IDW’s second “True Blood” series, “Tainted Love,” and is also known for his Archaia series “Lucid.” The writer/actor spoke with CBR News in 2011 about “Tainted Love” and his view on comics expanding the “True Blood” universe and mythology.

“I think the comic can play a role in exploring areas of the ‘True Blood’ world that the show may not be able to get to,” McMillian said. “Marc [Andreyko] came up with the wonderful idea of Tru Blood bottles getting contaminated with an element that causes vampires to go crazy. Since the bottled blood is the link between vampire/human relations, it’s such a great device to mess with. Tainting that symbolic connection seemed like an apt reflection of where vampire/human relations were left off in Season 3. On another level, the theme of contamination is at play with the main cast of characters. Their lives have been drastically affected since Bill walked into Sookie’s life. Are they themselves tainted? A lot of our characters kick off the series with a longing to return to the way things were before… to reclaim a feeling of lost, perhaps even false, innocence.”

IDW announced the “True Blood” ongoing series in late 2011 following three miniseries based on the television show: “True Blood: All Together Now,” “True Blood: Tainted Love” and “True Blood: The French Quarter.”
