Looks like the new released paperback version of Dead and Gone includes a surprise: the extended chapter one of Dead in the Family, the new Charlaine Harris novel that will see the light next month. The author gifted us with the chapter one back in Christmas, but now the whole chapter is completely revealed with really juicy content. Can’t say more. Do you want to read it?
Ohh boy… do I wanna read this? After those dreadful 13 pages she gaves us in december… what’s gonna happen next… she sells Gran’s House and move to Shreveport? Thank you but no thank you….

He couldn’t come to her rescue, Bill could ignore the messages, Pam wasn’t chained so she could scape and made a call… and yada yada yada! I’m sorry but Charlaine lost it… and I don’t like this Eric, I’ve never had!

Although I prefer sookie and bill, I enjoyed seeing a different side 2 eric…seemed genuine 2 me. I dont think its a piss poor excuse @ all, every1 knows eric obeys anything 2 do with vampire politics and what his rank is in vampire society. This may be the 1st time he has wanted 2 disobey vampire rules 4 another.
I love my bill, and have always been unsure about erics role in the book. But now im just over h8n him. I might try a different take and just be a little open minded 4 once. I want 2 genuinely try and enjoy all aspects and characters of the series 4 a change. Reading a recent interview from CH, she says briefly bill will be happy so that gives hope.

I mean, she´s been through a lot of bad things over all the books. But that never stoped her before! She was always brave, and adventurous and saw the bright side of things.
This depressed Sookie sucks! It doesn´t fit her personality.
She should be happy she has Eric now, shut the hell up and live another trilling sexy vampire mystery just like the 9 one´s before that. But all that she does is complain.
I just hope the rest of the book is different!

Whinging about all this trust shit, oh whatever. Eric’s hot and loves her what else is there to worry about. I just know that Charlaine Harris will ruin the rest of the books. I just know it’s coming. She’s not going to make this Eric/sookie thing work out jsut because she can. She’s an author and authors just want to jsut kill it for the fans. She’ll probably make Eric die saving her life, sacraficing himself for her or some lame shit like that later on, and Sookie ends up with some boring human or worst a warewolf. lol

Well, aparently this is no extended version of chapter one… this is how the book ends! Again… I don’t wanna read this… I think I’ll just wait to the last one to see what happens to Bill and Sam, which are the only character I care about at this point!
Wait, wha? Its totally from that first chapter that was released last year innit?
This is not from the end of the book. This is the remainder of the first chapter. Harris posted the first part of it on her site in December. She left this part out for obvious reasons – it gives ALOT away.
If you are referring to the page numbers on the scans – the chapter appears at the end of the paperback edition of Dead and Gone (book 9) which was released this week. Hence the page numbering.
For the record – I loved it, and I’m very happy to see some progress with these two that is irrefutable and not just happening between the lines.
Can’t wait to read the whole thing.
Woots! I feel much less bitter and cynical about the new book now, ( even though CH’s last interview makes me real wary) Eric finally says he loves Sookie and hope springs eternal.

Read the book… Eric is wonderful in it… whether he ends up being HEA remains to be seen… but it is a great day for Eric fans.
Eric is the one and has been from the start. He killed Long Shadow, sent her flowers, has chemistry and banter with Sookie. Sends her gifts but not the kind that make her feel cheap, protects her, lets her make up her own mind about whether she is “his”. And he is the only vamp who’s mind she can glimpse. I get the feeling CH will make Sookie end up with Sam- but I just don’t see the appeal or chemistry of that. Never cared for Quinn “Oh boy” kinda makes me wanna gag! Eric is hot- don’t ruin it- Bills ok but its got to be ERIC!!! Sookies half fae grandfather lived to 700 so I hope she ends up having a long shelf life without having to turn vamp.
I do find that Eric at times is not living up to the way CH introduced him but even if his character is only a dilluted version he’s still “The One”.
Also- I love the show but I am dissapointed that AB changed some key things that make Eric the best man for Sookie- ie Bill killing LongShadow- giving his blood to someone other than her… I like that he adds characters and tweaks things but some things are essential to the core story working. Really hope we get that great scene of Eric coming to Sookies rescue at Club Dead and the great moral support he gives her through her healing- the first time Sookie relinqueshes her will to someone (Eric) and its easy when she looks into his eyes. And the scene that follows when she wakes up.
I think it was totally necessary to give Bill some Eric scenes. Eric killing Long Shadow wouldn’t have worked. It was too soon in the Sookie/Bill relationship and a dead end in the book. Eric had to compensate Long Shadows maker…who wasn’t satisfied which led to a really lame sl and more pain for Sookie. The show did a far better job with Bill staking Long Shadow…since that led to Bill having to create a new vamp…in compensation for the one he staked. We got Jessica…family and story for Bill and Hoyt..and were spared another Sookie needing rescue story.
I’m glad the mystery of why Bill had to save Sookie from the evil fae rather than Eric has been cleared up. I’m glad Bill didn’t die! Seeing as how Sookie saved Bill…with Eric’s help…from his torture…it stands to reason Bill would get to save Sookie…with Eric’s help…from her torture. Keeps the Great Eric/Sookie/Bill triangle alive and kicking.
I think in the end…Sookie will probably end up with Sam, LOL!
