I sometimes wish that she had killed him off that way he would have had a better ending instead of being kept to the sidelines within the last 3 books. I will always love Bill but had CH been a better writer, there might have been more vision of the character as you read him instead of only getting a slight hint from others what he is doing

Wondering if CH and AB didnt cook this up between them you know. AB isnt stupid enough to let something this major just "slip out" and as its already been said it totally changes how readers view the books. CH seemed to get over ir pretty quickly too.

Okay. Yes, I am a Bill fan. In the beginning books and on the show. Alan has 'done his thing' to CH's characters, and yes... they are hers.

It is also called, "The Sookie Stackhouse Series and secondly, The Southern Vampire Series" so yes... again CH's characters, and Sookie is the primary. But CH has done Bill AND Eric disservices by her inability to keep her story "rules" (for the lack of a better word) too chaotic.

She needs to sit down take a big breath and say...

Okay: A) This does this. B) Because of this, only X will happen. C) This cannot happen for any reason. and so on. CH introduced some really great, awesome characters, she needs to get back to that for her books.

As to what Alan Ball said, I'm not him. I can't say what he should or should not have said.

Was he wrong? Was he right? Well, being raised in the center of a vivid and contentious football rivalry, I just look at it this way. It's just like any rivalry. One trash talks the other.

For me? I love to read good books that are true to all characters involved and when I watch a film or series... I want the same thing... develop the character, determine the 'rules' and then work to give them the best material possible.

I personally think AB has made some bad character decisions, I think CH has done the same. I think we as readers/viewers deserve much better on both fronts... so we should direct our feeling to those responsible in a productive way, I sent comments to CH, I've sent comments to AB. Hopefully at some point in the future, they'll both wise up and give us what we ALL want most... great characters that are true to who they started out being! Be it Sookie, Bill or Eric.

I'd be really happy to get that!

As a "rookie writer" I can only say that to me, writing too fast is poor excuse. I read, re-read and then, re-re-read again, sometimes I then decide, "Nope... this isn't going to work!" and trash the whole thing and go where the story needs to go.

And as an aside to "Teahead" I would have dearly loved to have had you as a Professor! I feel as you do... sub-par work is lazy on the writer's part and disrespectful to the reader. At least that's how I feel. I am all about Bill, lost interest in the books because he was removed from any real focus.

I think CH 'jumped the shark' when she started to veer away from the core Sookie/Bill center of the story. I also agree with whoever said, "She should have negotiated a better contract" for more time. I have had SO many authors I really loved over the years that sign with a publisher and then have to start cranking out a so-so book every year to meet the deadlines. It's a shame, especially when you know how really good they can be but aren't any longer. Big case in point would be CH having Eric's 'brother' being one of the descendants of the Russian Royal Family. Seriously? Everybody out of the water!!

Someone said Eric is the "fling" and Bill is the one you want to end up with. (Or something along those lines!) I agree. The depth of feeling with Eric just seems to lack the ability to be in for the long haul.

Or not! LOL! Just my humble opinion!

Making excuses that she wrote the books to fast is simply ridiculous. I guess I am allergic to such things as being an academic teacher I hear quite often from my students that the writing they submitted or homework they did was sloppy because they had no time to polish it. It makes me very angry because the quality of their assignments lets me know how seriously they treat my work with them and the time I devote for preparing for my classes. So if someone comes after two weeks since I asked them to do the homework and gives it to me on torn paper or with many cross-outs or much shorter than I expected or generally it has very poor quality, I feel it's like dissing my work and my time I spent to make my classes as perfect as possible. They pay me back with ignoring my request and I feel like my standards have not been respected. Of course these are exceptions, but it does hurt a bit. So, if I were CH's reader and heard the book I have bought and read, letting her earn money for her work, is full of mistakes and is poor quality as far as some plot details are concerned, I'd feel offended that I am not taken seriously as a reader and that money just got wasted. That she does not really care too much about my comfort as a reader, she does not want to give me her finest work, she thinks a mediocre book ought to satisfy me. It's offensive and insulting. My rule is that if you decide to do something, especially professionally, you ought to do it as good as possible, put all your heart into it. If you do not intend to give 100%, just let it go, find yourself something else to do.
As far as I can read, I can see CH has not been too serious writer. How can one openly say the book the person has written is not the best because of the lack of time? And how can one be so inconsistent as far as bloodbond is concerned? I mean it's her idea, right? And she can't explain the phenomenon properly? And that whole thing with her thinking AB would not remember their discussion about Bill? What?

I'm a Bowie then? I don't even know how the books and the show can be compared? The Books are ALL ABOUT SOOKIE. That would make for a horribly dull show...all Sookie all the time.
I LOVE what the show (Alan Ball) has done with the characters. The casting has been superb...and characters that had no life...get a full RICH life...and sometimes death. There are many sl's that fortunately have little to do with Sookie's soapy supie journey through life which wouldn't be possible if the show was all about Sookie.
Being an Eric fan...I was not well pleased to see him marjinalized in the show...the way Bill was in the books. I got over it!
