"Never underestimate the power of a good bake sale."
Just a quick update to let y’all know that Vampire Bill has leapfrogged over the towering Viking to take the lead in the Battle of the Fang! But don’t get too comfortable Team Bill, we all know that Eric is over 1000 years old and probably knows quite a bit about fundraising.
Remember, totals are updated here in the marquee to the right, and on alexskarsgard.net simultaneously. The balances do not update in real time – so if you’ve given to either cause, please look for the next update to see your donation recognized in the total.
Thank you to everyone who has donated to either cause. You True Blood fan(g)s truly are the greatest (crazy as all hell, but still the greatest). A “thank you” also goes out to Stephen Moyer & Alexander Skarsgård for graciously agreeing to participate in our charitable event. You guys rock!

EyeCon is proud to announce the launch of its 2010 second annual True Blood convention, November 5-7 in Orlando, Florida. Fan favorites Sam Trammell, who plays the shapeshifter “Sam Merlotte,” and Kristin Bauer, who plays the beautiful and sexy vampire “Pam” are confirmed to appear!
This is a great chance to meet the actors and get together with friends in an intimate setting that promotes fun, fun, fun and some more fun. Last year Tincar, Lividity and I met and talked to all the actors, met some great True Blood fans, made new lifelong friends and did some drunken posting. What’s drunken posting? Well, hopefully the readers of this site will experience it again. And if any of you Nesters plan on going contact us and we’ll do a meet up. Great times!
More actors from True Blood will be added to the guest list as time goes on, so get your tickets and rooms early and be a part of the best convention ever. For all the information you’ll ever need go to eyeconfla.com

Alexander Skarsgård arrived looking suave as usual on the red carpet at Hollywood’s Arclight Cinerama Dome at the season 3 Premiere of “True Blood.” Being the well mannered chap he is, he spent some time signing autographs for the masses. See more pics of Alex on the red carpet at alexskarsgard.net.

Tincar ~ "Will this fit in my purse?"
How long can you sit at home knowing there is a True Blood event in your town at midnight? The answer for me was 7 p.m. I couldn’t take it any longer. I needed to be anywhere near a True Blood sign, fan or just in the parking lot of the event. Addiction does have its price.
My BFF and I arrived early and immediately I staked out a very large cardboard bottle of Tru:Blood with Bill’s pic on it. I soon found out I wasn’t the only one wanting it for my collection. I tried to bribe the theater manager but it didn’t work. Sadly, the HBO people moved it quickly. They were onto us.
Our Sheriff is on left @Mone_Chari
My Sheriff, @Mone_Chari, rounded up the vamps before the show and went for some cocktails beforehand then joined us at 10 p.m. There was a good turnout and I thought the HBO people would be revving up the crowed and having a good time but that didn’t happen; I think they were there just to check us in and get us out. But never fear, True Blood fans are here and we made our own fun. My Twitter capabilities failed and I was cursing everyone with an iPhone, mainly because I don’t have one. I met another fan, @ThatMonsterEm, who came to my rescue and began tweeting her fingers off. Thanks Emily!!! Not many people dressed up. There were a couple Goth people and two Sookies.
Sookies!
Myself and two other fans were contemplating taking down the Twilight poster because really, it didn’t need to be around our True Blood stuff… hehe. Again, our plans were foiled. The fans ROCK! You can’t find a better fandom than True Blood fans. We made our own fun (once again).
"I know that pig!"
My BFF got a lot of attention in her “I know that pig!” shirt. Finally, we got in. VIPs were sent to one line and non-VIPs to another line. I thought this may mean something in the end, the VIP thing, but it didn’t. I heard in some areas, the VIPs received different swag, but in mine, everyone got the same thing.

A few of us here at The Nest were lucky enough to win passes to last night’s Ultimate Truebie True Blood Fan Experience. Lemme tell ya, it was a real mixed bag of the delightfully weird and straight up odd but a good time was had by those of us at the Washington, DC show.
I was there to send live tweets from the event and wasn’t in a particular costume, unless you count a nice Bill shirt from our shop here at The Nest, a vamp stamp on my neck, and a badge from HBO that read “Fangbanger.” My friend who joined me put a little more “oomph” into her Fangbanger persona.
We met our sheriff, Lauren, at a local bar where she was waiting for her subordinates to show up with her number two woman. Both were dressed to kill in some of the highest and reddest pumps I’ve ever seen in person. Lauren did a good job of organizing a pre-show gathering and by the time everyone showed up there were nearly a dozen of us including a Lafayette and several well-dressed vampires.
Sheriff of DC, Lauren
Early on, we met one of the bar’s regular patrons, a man who’d never heard of True Blood and was perplexed by the Fangbanger badges and vamp stamps my friend and I were sporting. He asked, “Can I ask you a question? What is a fangbanger?” I replied with a straight face, “A person who likes to have sex with vampires.” His stunned look and the laughter of his companion were delightful. We went to explain a little about the show and he had never heard of any such thing and seemed genuinely interested. Well, perhaps a little too interested.
After drinks and more pictures than I can count we headed over to the Mazza Gallerie theater. We checked in, got our wrist bands, some people enjoyed a free drink from the concession stand courtesy of HBO, and finally we started up the red carpet to have more pictures taken. The photographer took four photos of our group and I have no idea where they’ll end up or if we’ll ever see them. I just wanted to get inside!
Pam showing some attitude
Once inside we found good seats and watched as the theater slowly filled. It wasn’t a sell-out crowd but it was better than I expected in DC after midnight on a weekday. The screen was showing expanded interviews with the cast, the first five minisodes (Eric & Pam and Bill were the most popular judging by hoots and applause). Then came a live announcement from Alan Ball from the outdoor set of the Stackhouse property, introducing “Beyond Here Lies Nothin’.” It was fun to watch it on a giant movie screen, even with the live feed issues that interrupted for a little while. True Blood fans are a demanding bunch as we shouted, and some were howling, to get the picture back.
When the live Q&A was announced there were flashes going off all over the theater.

Hey peeps, this is the extended trailer that was shown tonight during the Ultimate Truebie Event. Its very spoilerific so beware, spoiler virgins. The other Nest ladies will be doing a full report on their respective events and the cast Q & A for your pleasure when they wake up (possibly hungover). Thank you, Auntie HBO!
