Heads up UK fans! Starfury Conventions will be helding next month The 2nd Annual Vampire Ball. From True Blood the guests who have agreed to attend are Allan Hyde and Mariana Klaveno. Other guests include Eliza Dushku, Julie Benz, Clare Kramer, Nicholas Brendon, Mark Metcalf and Georges Jeanty.
The event will be taking place from 30th September to 2nd October 2011 at the Renaissance Hotel, Heathrow, London.

The folks at RingCon have just announced a special “Fantasy Night” for Friday, October 14th 2011 that will be held in the hall Gondolin. Wizard students, Hobbits and dwarfs, vampires, werewolves, shape shifters and other creatures of fantastic literature, all are warmly welcome. Of course civilians are welcome, too. ;-) At the bar, among other drinks, mixed cocktails will be served to match the theme of the night. Their DJ Rick will entertain you with suitable music – a mix between rock, medieval rock, film music and party music, you will hopefully dance the night away and celebrate with us and leave early in the morning. Doors open at 9.30 p.m., the minimum age for participation at Fantasy Night is 16 years, those under 18 must leave the party at 0.00 clock. (I think that means midnight.)

According to BoomTron, Mariana Klaveno (Bill’s maker Lorena) will portray recurring character, Carissa Morris, a Florida University professor, on Showtime’s 6th season of Dexter. Hurrah!

Bitten2 will take place August 15th through 17th at the Park Inn in Northampton, UK. Joe Manganiello, Mariana Klaveno & Mehcad Brooks will be in attendance signing autographs, participating in Q&A sessions and more. It looks like maybe they are saving room for a surprise guest as well! Find out more at Bitten.

Mariana Klaveno
In honor of the Season 3 DVD release, Digital Spy gave a shout to Mariana Klaveno, who played the always fabulously dressed and devilish Lorena. Although sadly Lorena is no longer amongst the living (or undead), this interview gives us fresher insight into how Mariana carefully crafted her character. Here’s a snippet:
Why do you think Lorena is still so obsessed with Bill after such a long time?
“It’s a good question. I think that she’d obviously been looking for a companion for quite some time before she met Bill. She really desired and absolutely needed someone to walk the Earth with her. As an actor, I came up with my own little story of what happened to her as a human and that sort of informed why she was so hellbent on having a loving companion with her, and she would get it by God, no matter what. She was denied love or it was taken away from her in some tragic way in her human life and that’s why she was so obsessed with having Bill. Why Bill? I think because he possessed the qualities that she deemed worthy. The irony is that those very qualities are what prevents him from ever loving her back. I think at his core he is a really wonderful, worthy, dignified man and that of course makes him love Sookie and not Lorena!”

- Russell is the Horror Queen of the Year
The hilarious website, campblood.org asked their readers for their votes for best/worst in TV/films, etc. of 2010. The votes are in and True Blood won a lot of the major categories!
Best Horror TV Show of the Year - True Blood won with 52% of the vote. FYI, Campblood’s (Blood Work!) video recaps are a must-see on youtube!
Horror Hunk of the Year – Joe Manganiello. Joe won with 28% of the vote, although Alexander Skarsgård came in second with 26%.
Horror Queer of the Year – Russell Edgington (25%). Oddly enough, the runner-up is Denis O’Hare who plays Russell.
Gross-Out Moment of the Year – Bill & Lorena’s sex scene. (34%)
Most Memorable Horror Moment of the Year – Russell’s news rant on TBBN. (46%) The runner-up was Lorena’s head twist (20%)

Mariana Klaveno
Congratulations to Mariana Klaveno, who portrayed one of our favorite villains, Lorena (sadly departed, see RIP), for getting engaged recently to her boyfriend Luis Patino, a UCLA law school student. True Blood definitely is bringing good luck in the romance department for our favorite actors!

True Blood‘s Mariana Klaveno has been busy, but it’s not because of long days on the set – she’s gotten engaged.
“Sorry I’ve been out of touch for a few days – been busy getting engaged!!!” the actress, who played vampire Lorena on the HBO drama, wrote on her Twitter page Wednesday.
She’s the second cast member this month to reveal a proposal. Joe Manganiello popped the question recently to his girlfriend, actress/model Audra Marie, while on vacation in Italy.
