Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) might be getting a new love interest who has an advantage over Jason (Ryan Kwanten) and Hoyt (Jim Parrack): he’s British and very attractive. Plus, his name is Claude. Try competing with that.

Joe Manganiello has been heating up the internet with another new photo and interview with Hong Kong’s Prestige.

In the books on which True Blood is based, the Southern Vampire Mysteries series by Charlaine Harris, the character of Alcide features more heavily in some books than others. But show creator Alan Ball seems to have taken a liking to Manganiello’s role, further infusing the plot with story arcs featuring the werewolf. When I suggest that this is a reaction to the character’s popularity with viewers, Manganiello shakes his head. “I don’t know that Alan’s somebody who caves to peer pressure – as evidenced by him killing off most of the cast after season four. I think Alan does what Alan wants, and Alan does what Alan feels is right,” he says with a laugh. “But whatever the reason is, I think I’ve greatly benefitted. I know for a fact that [Alcide] is going to play a bigger part [in season five.] My role is only going to increase, and I’ll wind up getting into territory that isn’t covered in the books.”

So, is he your type? Manganiello is a man. A dude. A hunk. At a broad 6’5″, he dominates True Blood, in which he plays the werewolf Alcide, who loves Sookie. (She doesn’t love him back—though God knows why not!) The 35-year-old Pittsburgh native is recently single and says he’s a traditionalist when it comes to dating: “Being a guy, it’s all about planning and the setup,” he says. “I don’t think I’d ever let a girl pick up the tab.” In May he’ll appear in What to Expect When You’re Expecting, and he looks forward to getting serious with someone again. “The best times are when you’re sitting on the couch, and you look over and you’re like, Wow, I love her.”

You can take a man out of Pittsburgh, but you can’t take Pittsburgh out of the man. Hometown guy Joe Manganiello returned to parade down 5th avenue in downtown Pittsburgh in the My Macy’s Holiday Parade. Here is a clip of Joe’s interview with Alby Oxenreiter from WPXI. Joe sure loves the Steelers, and apparently they love Joe and True Blood right back!

Joe Manganiello is interviewed in the latest issue of Singapore’s Today Magazine. He talks Alcide and his role on True Blood and his expectations on Season 5:
“After what I’ve heard is going to happen on Season 5 of True Blood, I’m very happy,” he said. “It’s gonna be amazing.”
“Being Alcide changed my life a lot. True Blood was my favorite show to watch for its first two seasons. To be added to my favorite show on the third season when it was already a big hit was a bit scary. I didn’t want to screw up my favorite show. But since then I’ve been completely overwhelmed with the response to my character after Season 3. I could never have prepared how much people would love my character.”
Joe Manganiello is super-psyched about the upcoming season of True Blood. It seems he won’t be the only wolf in town in Season 5.
“Oh my god, I can’t f—ing wait,” he enthused to TVLine at the after-party for this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show (airing Nov. 29 on CBS). ”The fact that they’re basically busy casting an entire new pack of werewolves is unbelievable. There’s going to be like a werewolf show within the show this this year, so I’m like a kid about it!”
“It may not be what you expect,” teases Manganiello of the character, adding, “Alcide’s dad is in [Charlaine Harris' fifth Sookie novel]. Whether or not he makes an appearance… well, that’s a question for [executive producer] Alan [Ball].”
After a season with mostly Sookie and Eric hooking up on True Blood, it seems that TV Guide thinks that Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Alcide (Joe Manganiello) make the hottest couple that they want to see together. The new issue of TV Guide Magazine (dated November 14–20, 2011) gives their 53 reasons to love TV and Sookie and Alcide made the “Just Plain Hot” category.
