Entertainment Weekly put out its annual Best & Worst of the year issue and Joe Manganiello is featured in a prominent spot on the cover. The issue is dated December 24/31, 2010.
The Newbies of True Blood were also featured in the “Best Photos of 2010 That You Never Saw.” The picture was taken July 6, 2010 in Los Angeles by Justin Stephens.
“We didn’t start off with the fangs, and then right when they put them on, they all came alive,” Stephens says of Blood’s latest additions. “It became like a scene from the show.”
Sadly, the pictures are the only mention of True Blood in the issue. (Last year they were Ken Tucker’s #1 show and the cast was also among the Entertainers of the Year.)
We have seen the picture before, but it is worthy of reposting. From left, James Frain as Franklin, Joe Manganiello as Alcide, Lindsay Pulsipher as Crystal, Denis O’Hare as Russell and Theo Alexander as Talbot.
Denis O’Hare attended the 84th annual Thanksgiving Day Macy’s Parade this morning in NYC. Charming as all hell, Denis brought a True Blood CD and his pajamas from “Elling.” He also told us that he’ll be hosting a party of 18 at his house in Brooklyn – and guess what! Theo Alexander, back from his trip to Greece, will be coming over for the feast!
Somehow, it’s comforting to know that Russell & Talbot can still have Thanksgiving together… Awwww.
…and of course, this weekend our True Blood actors were out and about as usual! Let’s get into our weekly glamour fest!
We told you in our previous post that Sam Trammell performed at Actors for Oceans. It was certainly a busy night for Sam Trammell, who on the same day, also attended the Oceana benefit at Esquire House LA, where Theo Alexander was also spotted.

It’s clear that many of us will miss seeing Talbot on “True Blood,” but we still have the very handsome and talented Theo Alexander to enjoy.
Movie Line got the post-sex/death scene interview with Alexander where he admits that that the copy of “Night On the Sun” he made for his mother does not include his hot sex scene with Alexander Skarsgård:
Did you prepare your family for the scene in last night’s episode?
No. Actually, my mother will get the DVD without that scene. [Laughs]
He talks about how nervous he was about the scene and how Skarsgård helped him prepare for it:
What was the energy like on set the day that you shot the sex scene?
Well, I think that whole week, Alexander [Skarsgård] and I were both a little bit anxious, but we were joking and being professional. Alexander is a great actor, though, and he helped me get beyond the physical part of the scene. I had been afraid of the scene from the very beginning — from the first moment that I held the script in my hand — but I’m glad I did it because every time you face your fears, you move forward. It was a good experience at the end of the day.
True Blood’s new actors are featured in this week’s Entertainment Weekly. Denis O’Hare (as Russell Edgington), Theo Alexander (as Talbot), Lindsay Pulsipher (as Crystal), James Frain (as Franklin Mott), and Joe Manganiello (as the werewolf Aclide) talked to EW about working on the show.
Denis O’Hare discussed feeding time – the show’s fake blood is made of a sugary syrup, and for O’Hare, getting the unappetizing goo down is just a matter of commitment. “If you’re in the moment, it’s actually really fun,” he says. “It’s only after, when you’re thinking about it, that you get the shakes.”
Manganiello opens up about being nude on camera. “You have three options,” says the actor of the show’s penis-covering protocol. “A sock, a thong, and the ‘manty’ or man panty. You can go sans sock, [but] I come from a good Pittsburgh up-bringing that raised me to wear a sock.”
Frain, who has also starred on Showtime’s The Tudors, says that wearing the regal period clothing during that show was much more of an occupational hazard than the costumes on True Blood. “You’ve got on a fur coat, jacket, shirt, and we’re indoors in the summer shooting and they couldn’t use the AC because it makes too much noise,” he says.
Denis O’Hare, the King of Mississippi is getting a lot of media attention since he debuted in True Blood episode 2 last night. The more I read what Denis has to say about his character, the more I know this dude is really going to bring it this year. Also, not only is he the oldest vampire we’ve met so far, but he is by far the most powerful as he possesses super-vampire strength! Minor spoilers in here.
TVGuide.com: Had you read the books or seen the show before signing on? Denis O’Hare: I was definitely a fan [of the show]. I hadn’t read the books; I’ve read them since and enjoyed them very much. I was a fan of Six Feet Under and was very sad when it ended, so I was not ready to switch my allegiance to another show. So I was like, “I’m not watching this True Blood.” Then a friend got a bootleg copy of the first four episodes and by the third one, I was irrevocably hooked. When we finished the fourth one, I was running to the phone and calling [the cable company], begging them to give me HBO On Demand so I could watch the rest of the season immediately.
TVGuide.com: What did Alan Ball tell you about Russell going in? O’Hare: He said he has a Southern accent, and is very charming, very powerful and very deadly.
TVGuide.com: Tell me about the King of Mississippi. O’Hare: Russell is the oldest vampire we’ve yet to meet, and is therefore the most powerful. His physical power is kind of staggering. At one point, a vampire attacks him and Russell twitches his shoulder and the vampire flies off him and hits the ceiling. He is beyond morality, an ancient Celt, 2,800 years old, a pagan. Certainly he’s assimilated and evolved, but at heart he’s a pagan druid creature, an earth-worshipper who’s incredibly concerned with nature. Eventually, we’ll hear his vision for the world, which is that humans need to step aside and let vampires rule because humans are squandering the earth and ruining their habitat. Read More »
