Kevin Aleandro talks to YRB Magazine about his start as an actor (as a boxing chicken in a second grade play!), his role on True Blood, and what is next for him. We’ll miss you on True Blood, Kevin, but hopefully you’ll get to pop in sometime to visit Lafayette!
YRB: How does working on True Blood differ from the other shows you’ve worked on?
Kevin: It’s just a chance to go into a world that doesn’t exist, and you get to go creatively to places that you wouldn’t get to go to when you’re doing more reality based shows. It’s so much fun, too. Everyone there is great and we get cool locations. I mean, we are shooting in the middle of the night, but visually it’s so cool and I have a great time.
YRB: What are five things fans should know about you?
Kevin: I’m a daddy. I’m a husband.I’m a surfer.I play a little guitar.I’m a romantic. I’m a family man; I love my family.
YRB: What’s next?
Kevin: I think I mentioned earlier I’m going to New Orleans to shoot that movie [Hide. I play a detective on that one, so I’ve been lucky to not be typecast at all]; it’s a movie of the week, actually, for TNT. I’m playing a detective. It’s a really cool story. I’m trying to figure out who the serial killer is. It should be a lot of fun. I get to be out in New Orleans for a month. I also did this movie, The Red State, with Kevin Smith. I think that’s coming out in October.
Nelsan Ellis talked to Access Hollywood about the demise of his boyfriend in the season 4 finale:
“I wasn’t surprised, because I heard [creator] Alan [Ball] say a couple of times that, you know, happy times in relationships don’t last, but I was shocked that they killed him and I was shocked that they had me kill him,” Nelsan told Access Hollywood. “I was like, ‘Why would you?’… And then I found out Kevin requested [it]. He was like, ‘I want Nelsan to kill me.’ And I was like, ‘Why did you request that, dude?’”
“It was painful because we’ve become good friends. That’s my dude. He’s one of the best people that I’ve come to know — and his wife… I just love his family… and his energy,” Nelsan said. “I’m not gonna have that any more, so it was painful and we have such a good rapport, the best rapport I’ve ever had with another actor.”
Nelsan said he expects that Lafayette and Jesus will be reunited in season 5:
“He definitely will be coming back. Next season, as Lafayette learns how to use his power, then we certainly will see Jesus,” Nelsan said.
What about the return of Russell Edgington?
“I would love Denis O’Hare to come back,” Nelsan said. “And he should could come back to be my boyfriend.”
“The king of Louisiana and the new medium of Bon Temps? I think that would be a good combination, certainly a powerful combination,” he added.
The folks at Wonder Wall spoke with Kevin Alejandro about the season 4 finale that airs this Sunday, about who’s the biggest prankster of the cast and what he did to prepare for his role as a brujo. Here’s the couple of questions about the finale:
Wonderwall: What can fans look forward to from the season finale?
Kevin Alejandro: Well, actually last weekend’s episode read as a season finale. It could have very easily been the season finale. It was so good. We all thought when we saw it and then all of a sudden they gave us the script for the actual season finale and it blew us out of the water. So, you can expect to be completely surprised in all different angles of the show. It’s more captivating and will leave you on the edge of your seats. And I guarantee you, eyebrows will be raised.
WW: Will we be left with a lot of questions or will things tie up nicely?
KA: A little bit of both. Definitely some things will get resolved and a lot of stuff is going to be left hanging in the air, where you’re just going to be like what the hell? Now I gotta wait all these months again, I gotta wait til next year to watch it. But that’s what makes “True Blood” great, I think.
More videos were released for the “It Gets Better” campaign that include Fiona Shaw (Marnie), Kevin Alejandro (Jesus), Chris Bauer (Andy) and Lauren Bowles (Holly).
Janina samples "Fangtasia" and the new Tarte Cosmetic line at Comic-Con
HBO is airing a new extended version of True Blood at Comic-Con 2011 On Demand. The clips of the show are not new to those of us that have seen all of the current episodes, but there are more interviews with the cast and it shows more of the questions the fans asked at the panel.
TV Guide Magazine printed a couple True Blood tidbits in their August 15-28th (double) issue.
I think most of us figured it out by now, but the question about why Pam’s face didn’t heal right away was answered by Alan Ball: “The witch’s power overrides the vampire’s ability to heal.” I think we’re all happy that we’ll get to see Kristin Bauer van Straten’s beautiful Pam face again very soon.
Nelsan Ellis (as the fantastic Lafayette Reynolds) is in the spotlight as the Scene Stealer (and we couldn’t agree more)! “We’re building something nice with Jesus and Lafayette that’s rare on TV. There’s no hot, steamy sex scenes – just a deep connection with two people falling in love.”
And there is scoop on Mavis (Mikey’s mystery woman): Look for Lafayette and Jesus to grow closer when the unruly spirit of Mavis (played by Nondumiso Tembe), a Creole woman from the 1930′s, won’t leave without a fight. “Lafayette and Jesus will get themselves in some pretty sticky situations,” he teases. “But Jesus arises as Lafayette’s hero and vice versa. It deepens the relationship.”
