Allan Hyde Singing Bad Things to the fans

Feeling a little disappointed by the absence of the True Blood guys at the early inaugural press conference, Jody and ZZ were excited to share a couple of fangirl days at this fantasy convention held in Bonn, Germany.  The schedule had a couple of changes, and Allan Hyde was replacing Sam Trammell and Nelsan Ellis at the Friday Q&A, while the rumor among fans was that Nelsan could have cancelled as he was nowhere to be seen and nobody could tell for sure why he had disappeared from the official schedule Q&A. The truth is that not even the organization was confirming or denying the rumor, and not until a tweet came from the official convention this evening telling the fans that they were picking up Nelsan at the airport, were Lafayette’s fans able to breathe a sigh of relief knowing that they will get to see him onstage at some point.

So we had the pleasure to attend Allan Hyde’s Q&A session, and he was a delight to listen to, being warm and bloody fun to his public and definitely, a real entertainer who took our breath away with his ease and savoir faire.

This is a small resume of the session, which opened when Allan made a brilliant entrance singing part of Jace Everett’s “Bad Things” to a delighted audience.

  • If he could pick to be any other supernatural being apart of a vampire on True Blood, he would be a shape shifter.
  • Allan was 19 when he started on True Blood and he stopped going to school two months before graduation so he could get to Hollywood to be on the show.
  • He is living in Los Angeles thanks to True Blood, but his relative small appearance on the show has not made him rich at all.
  • He prefers Europe over the U.S because relationships with people are warmer, you don’t meet anyone in Los Angeles unless it is scheduled, while in Europe it’s easy to meet people in the street, everywhere… he misses the change of the seasons too. But of course, if he wants to help his acting career, Los Angeles is the place to be.
  • He doubts if he will be called again for Season 5. On his season 4 appearance he was phoned just two weeks prior.
  • There were some jokes regarding his short film Sidste Kys (“Please Stay”); a girl who had never watched True Blood did some research on Allan and got to see this video on Youtube where he talks to his invisible friend who ends up being his penis. She was confused and there was some laughs about that. They played a bit of the short on the background screen. He begged the organization not to show “Camp Rock” too. (He contributed to the international Camp Rock soundtrack.)
  • Allan was asked about practical jokes on set. He said that Ryan Kwanten is the biggest, and he told a story about Ryan filling one of True Blood staff member´s cars with packing peanuts… even the glove compartment.
  • Allan was asked how he learned to speak Swedish for True Blood. He taught Alexander Skarsgård step-by-step how to use Garage Band for the Mac so Alex could record his lines on it and Allan would listen and learn.

allan hyde stupid clown allan hyde true blood castAllan Hyde has finally released his short film, “Stupid Clown”. Allan and his friends– fellow actor Johnny Simmons and photographer/director Tom Banks embarked on a journey to the Mojave desert to shoot this short film, written and directed by himself.

STUPID CLOWN is theater of the absurd as a road trip short film. Vincent and Eugene are on the road and though the distractions are plenty they are determined not to let anything slow them down.” – Allan Hyde
