In addition to her stunning beauty, Deborah Ann Woll (Jessica Hamby) enjoys the taste of the fake blood on True Blood, isn’t squeamish about the gross scenes, and dyes her own hair.
“’It actually isn’t that bad!’ she swears. (As Woll describes it, fake blood can either be syrupy sweet chocolate or pureed fresh veggies, depending on what kind of wound it’s fictionally leeching from.) She’s also, clearly, equipped with nerves of steel. ‘I’m not squeamish and I don’t get scared. A part of me really enjoys filming the gross or weird parts. I find that intriguing,’ she says. And perhaps most like her character, the 25-year-old Brooklyn native underwent a major life transformation: At age 15, the tow-headed Woll marched to the drugstore, selected the prettiest red dye she could find, and changed her life for good. ‘I had perfectly nice blond hair but I felt I was being overlooked. Now being a redhead is part of my identity. I might go blond for a role, but I’ll always be a redhead,’ she says. (And yes, even to this day she still dyes her own hair.)”
Enjoy the photos from MarkTBeauty and read about the make up used in the photo shoot with Deborah’s comments.

Lat/ CE: "Lets go SHOPPING!" Menfolk: Noooooo!!!!
latbfan here, along with the ever-charming and irrepressible CitizenErased and some of the gorgeous men of True Blood. After all the fuss about the ladies and their wardrobes, we thought it’d only be fair to let the men have a turn. I’d like to thank Bill Compton, Eric Northman, Jason Stackhouse, and Sam Merlotte for taking time from their busy schedules to be with us this evening and participate in our round-table on men’s fashion.
Jason: Men’s fashion? Like clothes? That crazy woman (points an accusatory finger at CE, who’s inching her chair closer to Bill’s) told me we were talking about boobs.
Eric: (Snorts) And you were foolish enough to believe that?
latbfan: Why don’t we all just get to the point before there’s a fight. CE, would you like to begin?
CE: (whose chair is now touching Bill’s. She strokes his bicep and licks her lips.) Mmm wha? Yes, fighting bad. Make love, not war and all that…
latbfan: Fashion, CE? We’re talking about fashion? Would you like to start our discussion?

Ryan Kwanten
Last week, Ryan Kwanten (sporting an un-Jason Stackhouse-ish mustache) attended designer Phillip Lim’s Fall 2010 Preview Dinner. The event took place on May 11th in West Hollywood.
Also pictured are actor Rachel Bilson, designer Phillip Lim, and Cameron Silver (who’s said to have a “Midas Touch” when it comes to fashion).

The Many Styles of Sookie Stackhouse: Girlfriend, Telepath, Waitress, and Super-Sleuth Extraordinaire
Thanks to Audrey Fisher, True Blood‘s costume designer, Sookie Stackhouse may look cute-as-a-button, but she’s no fashion pushover. Whether she’s slinging beers at Merlotte’s, taking an evening stroll with Bill, demurely sipping a gin and tonic at Fangtasia, or sleuthing a maenad-wrecked, post-orgy disaster zone, Sookie looks her best in pastels, breezy dresses, floral prints, short-shorts, practical cardigans, and denim.

"Bill, do you think my t-shirt is sexy?"
It helps, of course, to look like Anna Paquin, who’s a beautiful young woman with curves in all the right places. She even looks good wearing only an over-sized Fangtasia shirt, not a look I’d recommend to the vast majority of the population. Likewise, I can’t advocate for prancing about town in a bikini-and-cover-up combination, like Sookie does in the early episodes of Season 1. I suppose, if you’ve got it like Sookie does, flaunt it, but if bikinis aren’t your thing, any woman of any shape, size, or age can still take lessons from Sookie, Bon Temps’ resident fashionista.
The first consideration for any belle, regardless of age or body type, is the weather. In the humid south, the summer heat is oppressive and seems to last forever. This cannot be stressed enough. Seriously. Hot. Very, very hot. There’s a reason people talk slow – they do everything slow ’cause it’s HOT. Make-up will melt, eye glasses will fog, hair styles will frizz or wilt, and clothes will quickly become sticky and wrinkled. Sookie is wise to don cotton prints and those translucent Merlotte’s t-shirts. A light-weight cardigan is a necessity for a/c environments, when the extreme temperature differences make for sweaty shivers. I assume, given Sookie’s proclivity for disaster, that she either invests in a highly efficient pre-treater, or she chooses fabrics that are relatively stain resistant.

That Scarf IS Double-Cute!
Deborah Ann Woll, Anna Paquin, and Audrey Fisher have all mentioned, in countless interviews, that the key to Sookie’s character wardrobe is affordability. Sookie is a woman on a budget, and fortunately for those of us who’d like to mimic her look, she shops at readily accessible places like Walmart, Target, Old Navy, and Kohl’s. While maintaining a style that’s youthful and flirty and fun, Sookie wears pieces that are simple, timelessly classy, and interchangeable.
Taking a tip from Lafayette’s fashion book, Sookie never underestimates the power of accessories. A jaunty scarf, a great pair of heels, or a handbag that pops can make-over the dullest of wardrobes.

Sookie's Less Ladylike Look
There are notable exceptions to Sookie’s good taste. I was quite grateful when the maenad attack ruined Sookie’s tiny plaid shorts and lace-trimmed tank top. While trendy and popular, the “I cook meth in a skeezy motel room” look is not flattering on anyone. The promos with Alcide from Season 3, with the white lace top, have me equally cringing. I’ve not seen anyone wear a shirt like that since the late 80s (and I live where people seem to think Confederate flag tube tops are the height of fashion). To each his own, but Sookie seems to shine when she dresses like the lady she is. And while Bill wasn’t available for comment, I assume, given his old-fashioned tastes, that he prefers Sookie’s more genteel wardrobe as well.

Sam Trammell attended Greg Lauren’s Alteration exhibit in West Hollywood last night, May 1st. The exhibit re-creates both vintage pieces and gear from Greg Lauren’s closet using Japanese craft paper. The result is a series of stunningly lifelike Western shirts, tux jackets, combat boots and of course, polos – each done with wrinkles and shadows in just the right place.
No wonder Sam went to the party for the exhibit, this one actually sounds like it might be interesting.

I don’t know about you guys, but this is what I wear when I go to the supermarket. Marie Claire gives us a great photo shoot of our favorite telepath. From the Crystal-embellished Prada frock to the Josh Goot silk dress – this just proves, Anna looks good in anything and anywhere.
She speaks about her relationship with Stephen Moyer:
“We’re pretty mundane. We walk our dogs, rehearse lines. But our shared passion for our jobs is a really exciting thing. It’s part of the reason we ended up together.”
Megan Cronner also asked Anna if there are plans for the wedding and babies.
“We’re doing nights on season three now. I have trouble planning anything more than brunch with my friends. But when the time’s right, we’ll do it.”
