True Blood’s big daddy, Alan Ball, talked to CNN about the new comic book series. He reveals a new creature in the comic book series that doesn’t appear in the TV series, there’ll be six issues this year, and all will be bound into a special anthology issue. AB says they’ll “do it again next year.”

The covers of the True Blood comic books are only getting better and better in my opinion. I mean really, check out the two below, from the 3rd in the series.
Oh, and just so you know, this 3rd collector’s edition will be available on September 22nd, but the first of the series will be available July 21, 2010. Buy em while they last – cause you know we’ve already got a bunch on order.

The comic books will be launched at Comic Con in July, and will be available for sale soon afterwards.
What y’all think? Personally, I’m gonna wallpaper my bathroom with these pages – they’re that good!

In case you haven’t noticed, I’m a bit of a geek, so I totally love the idea of a True Blood comic book series and I really rate the art on this cover and the one we’ve already seen. USA Today has an article on the series and talks to the writers and artists about the project. Interestingly, one of the writers on the show, Elizabeth Finch, also contributed to the comics, which will cover new storylines outside the events of the show and the novels. The first issue includes four alternate covers and a story line that traps the cast with an unnamed beast in Merlotte’s Bar. Cool.
“True Blood is the antithesis of Twilight,” says writer David Tischman. “Vampires come out of 19th-century repression, and here, all that sex is on the surface. Like the humidity of Louisiana, it’s there all the time.”
Writer Kate Barnow says the comic “gives fans a chance to hang out with characters in their natural setting in a way the pace of the show doesn’t allow.”

Check it out peoples! It’s the cover for the new IDW True Blood comic book featuring all our favorite True Blood characters (except Bellefleurs, wassup with that?). This thing is gonna sell faster than Vampire Bill doing that zoomy thing he does.
True Blood issue 1, the first of a six-issue comic series (each issue has 32 pages), will debut at the San Diego Comic-Con. And according to the HBO Store will ship July 21st. They’ll be priced at $4.99 (wait, wasn’t it just $3.99 yesterday?).
The story co-plotted by True Blood series creator Alan Ball, with a script by David Tischman (Bite Club) and Mariah Huehner, and includes art by David Messina (Star Trek: Countdown). There’s a bonus inside every issue: an exclusive pullout gatefold poster by David Messina!
As previously reported: According to the publisher’s official press release, the first story arc will find Sookie Stackhouse and friends ”waiting in Merlotte’s bar for a strangely portentous raging storm to subside. Soon, they discover they’ve been trapped by an entity that feeds off of raw emotions and begins killing off the patrons one by one until his hunger is sated.” source

Alan Ball and IDW publishing announced that True Blood will now be made into comic books. Yep, it’s true! A book series, a TV show and now comic books, but no worries, the writers won’t be rehashing the same old story lines again, each comic book will have a fresh new story line to follow.
Yesterday, April 2′nd, at WonderCon 2010 in San Francisco, IDW surprised the multitude of fans assembled by announcing it will soon publish the first True Blood comic book.
True Blood issue 1, the first of a six-issue comic series (each issue 32 pages priced at $3.99), will debut in July at the San Diego Comic-Con. “We are working very closely with Alan Ball and all the other writers at HBO,” IDW’s AnnaMaria White told me, “to make it a seamless integration into theTrue Blood world. It’s not gonna be adaptations of the scripts. It’s gonna be additional stories in that world.”
