Scott Foley (Photo credit: TVLine, HBO)
Michael Ausiello over at TVLine has an exclusive scoop & photos of Scott Foley as the new True Blood character Patrick Devins.
Scott Foley completely naked and having mad passionate sex — those are two things you won’t be witnessing during True Blood‘s upcoming fifth season.
“It’s so disappointing because I went on a diet, I got into great shape, I lost weight… and nothing,” the Felicity/Unit/Grey’s vet mock-rages about his role of Patrick, Terry’s (Todd Lowe) former commander officer in Iraq who turned up without warning in the Season 4 finale. “Todd and I are the only ones who don’t ‘nude up’ on the show!”
Part of the reason for that, Foley points out, is because Patrick is one of the few True Blood characters that is 100 percent (gulp) human. “People ask me, ‘Oh my God, you’re on True Blood — what are you?!” And I have to keep saying, “Umm… nothing! I’m just a guy!’” he recounts with a laugh. “I’m not a vampire, I’m not a werewolf, I’m not a werepanther, I’m not a fairy, I’m not a shapeshifter. I’m just a guy coming into town trying to finish something he started back in Iraq.”
Speaking of which, what exactly is the nature of his unfinished business with Terry? “Something happened between the two of them in Iraq that needs to be dealt with,” Foley teases. “I can’t say what it is. It has nothing to do with vampires or werelwolves. But there is a mission that they need to complete.”
Perhaps a clue can be found in the following never-before-seen Season 5 images?

Carrie Preston gives an exclusive interview with myFanbase about what’s like to portraying one of Bon Temps’ favorite redhead waitresses. In addition to discussing her role on the CBS’s “The Good Wife” and her husband, actor Michael Emerson, and her new film project “That’s What She Said,” Preston reveals she wouldn’t mind Arlene crossing from human to supernatural, what is was really like shooting those orgy scenes in season two and what lies ahead for Terry and Arlene in season five. Here is an excerpt:
How did you get into acting?
I grew up in Macon, Georgia and started doing plays when I was 9 years old, following in the footsteps of my older brother John G. Preston, who is still an actor as well. I considered myself a character actor from the very beginning when I did plays in the community theater and in school. Even then, I wasn’t Alice in Wonderland or Snow White or Cinderella. I was the Mock Turtle, Maid Dim Witty, and the kooky FGM (Fairy God Mother), complete with ass pad and glasses. I studied acting in various places, the most notable being the University of Evansville in southern Indiana and The Juilliard School in NYC. I relished the controlled chaos within the womb of higher education. And at 18, I started performing professionally doing Shakespeare in the summer breaks. But eventually the real world came calling, and I was definitely ready to get out into it.
When you booked the part of Arlene on “True Blood”, did you know right from the start that her fiancé René was the murderer?
The series is based on the Southern Vampire novels by Charlaine Harris, so there was a blueprint to follow. In the book, Rene is the murderer, so I did know from the start that he was the killer. But the show took liberties with some of the character traits and plot points, so a lot of that was surprising.

Carrie Preston spoke with Movieweb about True Blood season 5 and what’s in store for all of us come June 2012. Here’s what she said:
“As you know, I’m not allowed to say anything. I will say, I have read the first script. It is very exciting. It’s up to the usual True Blood standards with epic proportions of new characters and drama, and comedy. You know… Romance and everything else you’ve come to expect… I am excited to see where it will all go myself. We start shooting right after Thanksgiving. You will definitely get some questions answered right off the bat. Then, of course, a million more questions will come up, and those will propel us through the rest of the season, I am sure. But yes, the fans will definitely be satiated almost immediately.”
What’s Up With Arlene?
“Well, you know… We left it off where there was this mysterious guy that has come back into Terry’s life. That is being played by Scott Foley. It will be interesting to see how that will start to impact the home life. I trust that the writers and Alan Ball will take the role to places that I can’t even imagine. I try not to speculate. Because I would never have thought that I would have gotten pregnant, and that I would have a demon baby. But it’s not a demon baby, its possessed by a ghost. If I tried to dream that up? I couldn’t have. I just put myself in their very capable hands. And I enjoy the ride.”
On New Cast Members:
“I have no idea (about the casting). I am sure there will be surprises. There are new characters in the script, in just that first episode alone. I have no idea who will be playing them. We tend to beef up our already large cast with really wonderful guest players. I am assuming that True Blood Season 5 won’t be any different than what they’ve done in terms of that previously.
