1may anna paquin charlaine harris books anna paquin

Earlier this week, author Charlaine Harris spoke at Bouchercon 2011 in St. Louis and admitted that some of the actors of True Blood don’t quite look like how she pictures them in her head when writing The Southern Vampire Mysteriy books.

“There are a couple of the characters in the show who look very much like they do in the book,” Charlaine said.

Chris Bauer, who plays Andy Bellefleur, looks very much like [my] Andy, and a couple of the others. Kristin Bauer Van Straten’s not very far from the actual Pam, she’s a little skinnier. So I do sometimes see them in my head.”

“But to me, Anna [Paquin] has never been the way I think of as Sookie. I think she does a great job, but she’s just not my Sookie.”

While we couldn’t see anyone else as Sookie but Anna, there are no rules when it comes to taste!

Tru Blood 2: A Second Bite has been postponed until further notice

Bad news for those of you that were planning on attending the True Blood event “Tru Blood 2: A Second Bite” in Sydney Australia next month – due to cast cancellations, the event will have to be postponed. Please read the announcement below. (Congrats to Sam and Nelsan, and we hope you are in the mend soon Joe!)

This morning Hub Central received a devastating call from the USA, to advise that tragedy (depending on your point of view) had befallen our Tru Blood event over the last few days, as none of our announced guests will be able to attend our event in Australia at this time.

Our beloved Sam Trammell has become a father to twins and cannot bear the thought of being away from them for a week (congratulations, Sam!); Nelsan Ellis is to be congratulated, as he has just signed on for an amazing new film project (congratulations, Nelsan!); and poor Joe Manganiello was injured on set yesterday (commiserations, Joe!). He’s devastated that he is unable to fly and will not be able to join us, as he was very much looking forward to coming out to Australia.

With the event so close and Dragon*Con in the States taking the industry’s time and attention, it has become impossible for us to source replacement guests for the line-up that you deserve.

But before you begin weeping uncontrollably and chugging V to quell the sadness, we have some good news; the event is postponed not cancelled! We are finalising the new date for 2012 over the next few days and are delighted to announce that our first guest will be the lovely Charlaine Harris, benevolent goddess to the True Blood universe.

Please stay tuned to our Facebook, Twitter and website for more news, which we’ll share as soon as we have it.

Kristin Undead videos true blood nelsan ellis michelle forbes kristin bauer eric northman books bill compton I happened to stumble upon a cool show on The Sundance Channel. They air a series called Love/Lust and there are shows dedicated to Sex Symbols, Social Network, The Bikini and The Undead.

The synopisis for The Undead: A study of the popularity of zombies and vampires in past and present-day cultures. (documentary)

Why am I posting it here? Because not only do they talk about True Blood and the Sookie Stackhouse novels, but they actually talk to Kristin Bauer van Straten, Nelsan Ellis, Charlaine Harris and Michelle Forbes.

The show talks about the origins of the vampire story, zombies, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Anne Rice novels, etc.

This video shows just the True Blood parts. It’s almost 7 minutes in length. Please at least watch 5:36 – Nelsan says “Shii-ttt” and it is the cutest thing.

"Last Round Sam?" Charlaine during her True Blood cameo

Charlaine Harris was interviewed recently during the Canadian convention, Polaris 25. Apart from giving us a tentative title for the last two books in the series, she teases fans about the end of the books. Really Charlaine, I don’t think you ever need to hide after the wonderful characters you have written for us!

E&S Lovers: Currently, you’re writing Sookie book 12…at this point of the book, what would you title it, if you had the final say?

CH: Dead Locked. Possibly the last book would be Dead End.

E&S Lovers: To promote the Sookie 12 and 13 books, will you consider touring Canada as well?

CH: I won’t say no for Book 12, but Book 13, I would go into hiding. I’m afraid of the backlash that will wave over the fans, if it doesn’t end the way people want me to finish it. I know,  I can’t please everyone…but I want to stay true to how I want it to end.

Alan Ball & Charlaine Harris Comment on S4 Developments

Alan Ball @ S4 Premiere

Alan Ball talked to EW about last week’s episode shocking death (spoilers y’all!), a new unexpected romantic entanglement and what’s still to come in True Blood season 4. Charlaine Harris also chimes in about last Sunday’s episode which took the life of a major book character.

On Fairies…

Executive producer Alan Ball tells EW that just because Sookie’s mentor is gone doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of the fairy world. “After everything that was going on with the fairies in the first episode, I think we wanted to sort of put a pin in that, but obviously it’s not over,” says Ball. “I felt it would have more impact if it was someone we knew as opposed to just a random fairy.”

“If we did just do everything in the books, there would be no surprises. It’s not like we have a formula for what we’re going to keep from the books and what we’re going to change. If there’s a consensus that something makes sense, that’s usually the way we go.” Charlaine Harris says she “was surprised” by the death of Claudine, but trusts in Ball and where he takes the stories. Says the author, “If he can be gracious to me, I can certainly be gracious enough to wait and see where he’s going.” <–Anyone know what this means?

On Hot Shot:

“Well of course it’s twisted — Hot Shot is twisted,” says Ball. “They’re crazy inbred freaks. They call each other Uncle Daddy! Hello! It’s a twisted world.”

On What’s Next:

“It gets ugly between the vampires and the witches. There’s more than one fight coming up. There’s also a very unexpected romantic attachment which you’ll start to see the beginnings of I believe in next week’s episode. We’re gonna find out a lot about Jesus’ magic that’s in his family. We’re gonna get to the bottom of what’s going on with Arlene’s baby.”

For a good time, check out TV.com’s 10 reasons why True Blood is better than the books they are based on. She definitely has very good points and I agree with most of them, but not all. What say you, faithful Nesters?

10. Eric’s Hair

In the books, Vampire Sheriff Eric Northman’s hair is frequently described as being bound up in intricate braids. Seriously? Who would even do the braiding? Pam?
