Stephen Moyer was recently interviewed by Bullett Magazine in their spring issue. He opened up about many things and specially about his involvement in charitable causes. Thanks to alexskarsgard.net and Sally for the transcript.

As you may remember, The Battle of the Fang was a fundraiser organized by alexskarsgard.net and True Blood News that successfully raised about $70,000 last summer thanks to fan donations. Not only Alex and Stephen demonstrated their good sports and kind heart, but what the True Blood fandom can accomplish when the passion is directed towards worthy causes.

You and Anna have been auctioning off autographed scripts for charity. Do you want to tell us a little bit about that?

One of the nice things I hadn’t considered until the show became successful is one’s ability to help out causes that you’re interested in. If we can get Alan to sign a script, if we can get some of the other cast to sign a script, we can auction it off and it can raise quite a lot of money.

I heard about a terrible story from a neighbor of mine last year. They’re called the Darnell family, and the father had died, and then eight months later the mother was hit by a car and she and her eight years old daughter was killed, leaving four kids orphaned with no money. SO we started trying to raise money for them by auctioning off scripts, pictures…anything.

Alex does it for various charities. Alex and I were approached about this idea for Battle of the Fang — we raised $70,000 dollars. People got completely absorbed in it and ultimately, it really wasn’t about the victory — apart from the fact that I won — but it wasn’t about that. We both raised a very similar amount, right up to the wire – I think I raised about $35,000 and he got $34,950. It’s unbelievable. We chose causes that we cared about, and at the time the gulf had exploded and the oil was washing to the shore in Louisiana. Because  it was Louisiana, I chose that as my charity because of the show, because we filmed down there.

Well, another bloody year has come and gone and here we are again on the eve of a new year. Today we’re taking the time to go through the True Blood News events of 2010…

As usual, the year started out with the various award shows. First up was the Golden Globes and True Blood was up for Best Drama & Anna Paquin was nominated for Best Actress in TV Drama. Although neither won (Mad Men & Julianna Marguiles took the honors), it looked like the True Blood cast had a blast at the event.

Next up was the SAG Awards where Anna presented the Award for Best Comedic Actress. The cast was nominated for Best Ensemble Cast. Again, they lost out to Mad Men. The fans were the winners though as a bunch of goofy photos were taken at the after party.

In April, we had the chance to interview Sam Trammell, where Sam confirmed that our wishes of a Sam/Bill daliance (even if imagined) might be possible.

June was an exciting month for all True Blood fans beginning with the 3rd season premiere at Arclight Cinerama Dome in Hollywood on June 8th. On June 13th, the first episode of season three premiered on HBO to a record number of viewers who found out right away who stole Bill Compton.

The beginning of True Blood’s third year also launched The Battle of The Fang charity competition which ran until the season finale. Team Eric and Team Bill put their money to super good use while supporting their favorite vampire. Our sister site, alexskarsgard.net proved formidable competition, and from the very beginning, the race was close. Stephen Moyer talked about it backstage at the Tonight Show:

The long wait is finally over! Behold the photos from THE BATTLE OF THE FANG!

Bill Compton narrowly beat out the Viking Eric Northman by only $829. Together, both teams competing in the Battle Of The Fang raised almost $70,000 for charity! As Bill Compton is the reining king, Stephen Moyer got to choose the t-shirts himself. As you can see, his chosen shirt reads, “I Like My Bitches Blonde” while Alex’s says simply, “Bill’s Bitch!” Both these dudes got a sense of humor, is all we’re sayin’.

Stephen Moyer and Alexander Skarsgård are amazed at the amount of contributions that their fans have donated. Alex, Stephen, Gulf Aid and SOS Children’s Villages all want to thank everyone who participated in The Battle Of The Fang. The Battle has surpassed all our expectations!

The success of The Battle Of The Fang has once again proven that True Blood fans, no matter which team they’re on, are the best! We’d also like to thank all of the fans who donated, Stephen Moyer and Alex Skarsgård for playing along and alexskarsgard.net, our partner in the competition, for all their hard work.

At long last, the winner of Stephen’s t-shirt is…..

Rebecca K!

Alex’s t-shirt goes to…

Angela S.

We will be emailing the winners to verify their addresses. Congratulations!

The t-shirts have been created and sent (no, we’re not going to share the designs yet!) and now we’re just waiting for the photographs to be taken and sent so that we can post them!

So check back soon for the Battle of the Fang finale!

Alexander Skarsgård’s Battle of the Fang Charity Acknowledges Effort

alex 300x197 alexander skarsgardSOS Children’s Villages submitted a press release yesterday acknowledging the fundraising efforts of Alexander Skarsgård and his Team Eric fans. Although the press release doesn’t name the competition as “Battle of the Fang,” we all know that it was the friendly competition between Team Bill and Team Eric to raise funds for two worthy charities. Team Eric pulled in over $34,000 to help aid orphaned and abandoned children.

Even though Team Eric lost the Battle of the Fang to Team Bill, it is nice to see that Alexander and his fans have been acknowledged by SOS.

The Battle of the Fang is over, but if you still would like to donate directly to SOS Children’s Villages, you can do so at any time.

Born to be King!

As the smoke hugs the ground, slowly dissipating and the battle cries die down, only one vampire stands. Fangs, Viking horns and willing blood donors surround him on the now silent battleground. It is with great honor, that we announce that Stephen Moyer is the King of the Battle of the Fang. The fight has been an amazing, fun-filled rollercoaster ride. The Vikings gave an unbelievable internet battle. Team Bill raised $35,043 and Team Eric raised $34,223 bringing the total for the Battle of the Fang to $69,266! Which only goes to prove that both vampires are loved dearly.

We are proud of ALL the fans that have stepped up and donated to both GulfAid and to SOS Children’s Charities. Of course, we also need to thank Alex Skarsgard and Stephen Moyer for playing along and agreeing to participate in the Battle of the Fang in the first place. Both these guys deserve a round of applause, because their job isn’t done yet. They will each be photographed wearing the appropriate winner/loser t-shirt. Your t-shirt suggestions have been sent to Stephen. He’ll decide which t-shirts need to be created.

AlexStephenCute battle of the fang

To our number one Viking lover, Jenna, You are an incredible person and Alex should be honored to have you running his fansite (alexskarsgard.net).

A victory cannot be complete without giving recognition and special thanks to some people. Bill’s Wiki’d Women are amazing. They pulled together with one goal in mind and achieved it. This has been a lot of hard work, sleepless nights, constant advertising and communication. It is one thing to throw a button up and sit back collecting money in someone’s honor, but what has been done by these fans is commendable.

A shout out to our friends the BillsBelles, you guys ROCK! Also a giant thank you goes out to all the Twitterers and other sites that promoted the event. Thanks for all your help.

Special thanks to NotHoney: You are an indispensable crusader for GulfAid. Your posts regarding the tragedy were not only informative, but also funny. You masterfully tied in True Blood to make it so. You got people involved on so many different levels and nonstop ideas. You worked relentlessly to achieve our goal and we could not have done this with out you.

Why Stephen Moyer and Bill Compton
should be Kings of the Fang #5

Reason #5 – He’s Stephen Moyer And That’s Enough!

Why is it that we can’t read an interview with this guy without smiling? I remember the first time I saw an interview with him; I was so impressed by his spontaneous and complex-free style. Stephen Moyer, unlike his alter ego Bill Compton, is not tormented at all. In fact, he couldn’t be more different. He cracks up all the time, makes weird funny faces and shocks everyone with his unexpected responses. His sincerity meets no limits when it’s time to “chuff” everyone and steal laughs (and our hearts as well). But there’s indeed, one trait he shares with his alter ego Bill, a deep good heart; just as Bill would do anything for Sookie, Stephen would do anything for his fans.

This is what the King of the Fang looks like ;)

Once again, he has shown how involved he is with the True Blood fan community by helping to create the Battle of The Fang from the beginning. He’s been patient and always willing to give us his time for this cause to succeed. He’s gathered prizes for give-aways, including the infamous world-shocking “Sock of Destiny,” which was kindly provided as a result of our wicked demands. And believe me; we have a big list of nasty things we’d love to request of him ;)! But it would be unfair not to credit the always-kind Anna too, who was happy to put her signature on such a valuable piece of equipment! We certainly couldn’t have gathered such an important amount of money without their help.

Let me also thank the whole cast of True Blood and Alan Ball, for signing the script and dvds.

That’s why we’ll be putting a big crown on his witty and sexy head tomorrow. This is something we need your help to do. Bill fans around the world, we need your donations now more than ever because Team Eric is ahead. Way ahead! As we stand at the divided team line for a great cause, let the finale battle begin. Help us to spread the word today, more than ever, post in your Facebook, Tweet and post in boards. If you donated and can do it again, please do and if you haven’t yet, do so. This is your chance to help with a good cause and show the world how much we care for Stephen and Bill Compton. Every small donation or tweet means something!

Thank you everyone!
