Anna Paquin shared the Best Actress prize with Meryl Streep for her work in Margaret at the London Film Critics Awards. The Best Actress tie is a first in the London Critics Awards’ twenty-year history. Also nominated were Tilda Swinton, Kirsten Dunst and Michelle Williams.

The London Film Critics’ Circle Awards 2012  was held at the BFI Southbank on thursday 19th in London.

Congratulations to Janina Gavankar – she will be the recipient of the Gravity Summit Excellence in Social Media / Entertainment Award at the 4th Annual Gravity Summit – Social Media for Sports & Entertainment event that will take place at UCLA on February 22, 2011.

Janina’s fans know her best as Luna, Sam’s love interest on True Blood, but Janina also exemplifies the importance Young Hollywood puts on social media.  Janina was the first celebrity to sign up for Twitter and she created a theme for actors on Posterous, a website meant to help people share their online presence.  So far, thousands of fellow actors are using her site, which Janina believes is integral to helping their career by giving them a place to display their past work.

Alex & Stellan Skarsgård, Melancholia Movie Poster, Alex & Kirsten Dunst

Alexander Skarsgård’s movie “Melancholia” won 3 awards at the European Film Awards yesterday! Read below how his father and Melancholia co-star stole the show.

BERLIN — Lars von Trier‘s apocalyptic drama Melancholia blew them away at the 24th European Film Awards, Europe’s version of the Oscars, taking home three trophies, including best film.

“I don’t have a message from Lars for you because he has stopped making public statements. I can’t imagine why,” said one of Melancholia‘s producers as she accepted the honor on von Trier’s behalf, making reference to the director’s infamous pro-Hitler quips in Cannes this year.

Melancholia‘s cameraman Manuel Alberto Claro got the best cinematography nod for his hypnotic lensing of earth’s final days and production designer Jette Lehmann won the EFA for her opulent sets.

Melancholia was the odds-on favorite to take the top prize at this year’s EFA’s. The host of the 24th European Film Awards, German comedienne Anke Engelke, acknowledged the film’s frontrunner status when she started the show, making her entrance on stage in a wedding dress walking in slow-mo, aping Dunst’s character in the von Trier drama.

But THR posted that the best laugh came during a speech Stellan Skarsgård gave on his friend, Mads Mikkelson winning an achievement award…proving the entire Skarsgard clan has a great sense of humor…

“I don’t admire you for your looks, because you’re not good looking,” Skarsgard riffed. “You have an ‘interesting’ face. I know you’ve been voted sexiest man in Denmark like 6 times but those are by people who don’t know you. And we have to remember, Denmark is a very small place.”

But Skarsgard ended on a sweet note. “Mads, everything you do has a clarity to it. There’s nothing fuzzy about what you do. You’re acting is clean, graceful and very poetic.”

Nominations for the Grammy Awards 2012 were announced yesterday and we are happy to learn that True Blood Soundtrack vol 3 is up for “Best Compilation Soundtrack Album For Visual Media” category.

True Blood will go up against Boardwalk Empire: Volume 1, Burlesque,Glee: The Music, Volume 4, and Tangled . The 54rd Annual Grammy Awards airs on CBS on February 12, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Well, it is up for a Digiday Award along with CBS Interactive’s TV.com and WatchMojo.com. The 3 will be vying for the honor in the Digiday’s Best Entertainment Destination Category on Dec. 12, 2011 at The Digiday Video Awards Gala in New York City.

Kristin Bauer van Straten & Michelle Forbes presented an award to “Bino” in the Military Dog category at The American Human Associations’s First Annual Hero Dog Awards.  The event was held on October 1st, but aired tonight on the Hallmark Channel.
