Well, another bloody year has come and gone and here we are again on the eve of a new year. Today we’re taking the time to go through the True Blood News events of 2010…

As usual, the year started out with the various award shows. First up was the Golden Globes and True Blood was up for Best Drama & Anna Paquin was nominated for Best Actress in TV Drama. Although neither won (Mad Men & Julianna Marguiles took the honors), it looked like the True Blood cast had a blast at the event.

Next up was the SAG Awards where Anna presented the Award for Best Comedic Actress. The cast was nominated for Best Ensemble Cast. Again, they lost out to Mad Men. The fans were the winners though as a bunch of goofy photos were taken at the after party.

In April, we had the chance to interview Sam Trammell, where Sam confirmed that our wishes of a Sam/Bill daliance (even if imagined) might be possible.

June was an exciting month for all True Blood fans beginning with the 3rd season premiere at Arclight Cinerama Dome in Hollywood on June 8th. On June 13th, the first episode of season three premiered on HBO to a record number of viewers who found out right away who stole Bill Compton.

The beginning of True Blood’s third year also launched The Battle of The Fang charity competition which ran until the season finale. Team Eric and Team Bill put their money to super good use while supporting their favorite vampire. Our sister site, alexskarsgard.net proved formidable competition, and from the very beginning, the race was close. Stephen Moyer talked about it backstage at the Tonight Show:

Kristin spent some of her time at DragonCon this past weekend at the Robert A. Heinlein “Pay it Forward” Blood drive.

How fitting for Pamela de Beaufort’s alter ego to get close to bloodbags donating for a good cause. DragonCon’s goal this year is to draw over 3,000 units of blood.

We grok.

DragonCon Post #3 – True Blood & It’s All Good

Sam's looking at me!!! It's All Good!!!

It’s my second full day and all I can report is …IT’S ALL GOOD!!!

The day was soooo good that when cajoled, forced and then made to feel guilty, I joined my sister for a Twilight panel and enjoyed it. I laughed my ass off for an hour and got some great pics of unknown males. Men … laughing. IT’S ALL GOOD!!!!

Let’s get down to it. What made it so good? It started with the True Blood Q&A and the actors did not disappoint. Nelsan Ellis, Sam Trammell, Kristin Bauer and Michelle Forbes were more than entertaining. They laughed, they cried, they shared their favourite moments of True Blood. IT’S ALL GOOD!!!

The highlight of the panel was Kristin Bauer, but I’ll get to her last.

It’s time to rise and shine, Sam!

Sam Trammel discussed the sex scene between Sam and Tara. It was 6:00 a.m. and the first scene of the day. Sam was told to strip and his morning coffee was taken away. In came Rutina, coffee and clothes taken away from her too … they exchanged good mornings and then they preceded to bump and grind. Now that’s a wake up call.

How many ways to kill Michelle Forbes?

Michelle talked about her many roles on TV and how she has a tendency to be killed off in most of them. Needless to say her favourite and most gruesome was as Maryanne. Nothing like being gored by a shape shifting bull I guess.

And during the scene where Maryanne planted those huge ass claws of hers in the dirt? It threw Michelle off balance and she planted her face getting a mouthful of that tasty shit. She needed help getting up since her hands were now stuck.

Nelsan and a bit of heaven.

Did ya know that Nelsan not only comes from an area he considers homophobic but his family is, too? Needless to say, even they can’t keep their eyes off of Lafayette and are warming up to his character. When it comes to his scenes with Kevin and he’s gotta do some lovin’ on his favourite man, Nelsan thinks of fluffy white clouds and heaven to get that loving feeling.

Who do we love more? Kristin or Pam?

Kristin’s most memorable moment? deciding how to pull off going down on Yvetta. How should she pop her head up in that scene? How should she move her head between Yvetta’s legs to make it look real? Up and down? Side to side? Sam interjected at this point with his own experience; “side to side” works best. Kristen’s getting redder and redder, I thought Nelsan might fall out of his chair laughing. It was the highlight of the Q&A. Poor Kristin; the woman is so sensitive. When talking about the maker/child relationship between Eric and Pam she started crying; aawww. Then when mentioning how Lorena was one of her favourite characters on the show, she started crying again ’cause she was gonna miss Marianna; aawww.

IT’S ALL GOOD!!!

I know it’s not much info on the panel, but my video man was missing, or should I say ticketless video woman.

And really quick, another highlight to the day. Partying with a bunch of drunk blind men! Do you know what kind of fun you can have with that? I DO!

IT’S ALL GOOD!

DragonCon Post #2 – The Good & The Bad

Dragon Con’s been a mixture of good and bad and after the first full day I vote it a thumb’s down.

dc line dragon con

The line at Dragon Con - source: Twitpic

DragonCon passes are worth more than gold.
Good: Unlike Lividity I have my pre-paid and pre-registered pass in hand.
Bad: It took me two hours.
Good: It ONLY took me two hours.

Meeting the True Blood Actors.
Good: I ran into Kristen Bauer.
Bad: Literally! I ran into Kristen Bauer.
Good: Sam Trammell and Nelsan Ellis stood by me … for quite a while.
Bad: I didn’t know they were standing by me until they were rushed away by their handlers.

Attending a True Blood Panel
Good: I went to my first True Blood panel.
Good: It was a really short line.
Bad: A True Blood panel without actors?
Bad: WTF is this?

I have to explain the above panel, ‘cuz honestly I should have at least suspected that it would be beyond lame. It turned out to be a discussion and comparison of the show and books. The expert panelists consisted of published authors with time on their hands to help out. And what makes them experts on True Blood? Well, the three people had read some, most or all of the books and had seen at least most of the episodes. What a disappointment! I can have a more intelligent conversation with my 8-year-old grandson, at least he knows who Stephen Moyer plays!

I have high hopes for the True Blood Q&A session with the actors tomorrow. Wish me luck.
