HBO celebrated the premiere of Season 3 last night at Hollywood’s Boulevard 3, which had been transformed into a gothic wonderland with giant candlesticks, stuffed wolves, and wait-staff wearing black shirts that read, “Do bad things.”
In the VIP section, Anna and Stephen sat back-to-back at two tables: “It’s because we’re both cast members,” said Paquin, wearing a cobalt blue and black Proenza Schouler frock. “I’m not his plus one, as it turns out. I think it’s actually so we can have our collective friend group.”
When asked what the audience can expect for Sookie this season, Anna replied, ”We find out what Sookie is,” she said. “I can’t tell you, obviously. There’s a lot of really surprising …moments, to say the least. I’m so bad at talking about what’s coming up without telling any plot points. It’s kind of hard to separate. And I don’t want to get in trouble with my boss, because I like Alan.”
Famously protective of her private life, she was even less forthcoming when asked about rumors of her upcoming wedding to Stephen Moyer: “Where did you read that?” (Excellent dodge, Anna. Good for you!)
Behind Anna, Stephen was engaged in an intense conversation with cast member Carrie Preston, who was there with her husband (“Lost’s” Michael Emerson) while shape-shifter Sam Trammell greeted ”Damages’” Tate Donovan and posed for a photo with Ryan Kwanten, who plays Sookie’s brother
Alexander Skarsgard circulated among cast members’ tables, supposedly joined at the hip with not-officially declared girlfriend Kate Bosworth. (According to EOnline, they didn’t walk the red carpet together, and were careful not to have photographs taken together, but they sat together, Kate wearing a peekaboo Preen dress and occasionally stroking Alexander’s back.)
At a table on the balcony sat Charlaine Harris, the Arkansas-based author whose bestselling series of novels, “The Southern Vampire Mysteries,” inspired “True Blood.” Harris surveyed the busy scene below and munched on Hollywood’s idea of Southern cooking — Cajun turkey meatloaf, cornbread with honey butter and mini red velvet cupcakes.
“It’s much better than the Southern food we normally eat,” she said. “It’s classier.”
When asked if Sookie was based on anybody she knew, Ms. Harris replied, “Not specifically, no. But she represents a lot of Southern women, in that they overcome what they have to.” And as for Bill being based on any vampires she knows, she answered, ”Stephen is far more courtly than any of the vampires I know.”

Cute pic!
They always look so happy together, I swear it’s infectious.
They are such a beautiful couple!!! I love seeing them so happy together!! Stephen looks amazing as always! So yummy!!
supposedly joined at the hip … Alex and Kate “joined at the hip” and not one single pic of this … hmmm. If she had hung on him all night surly there would be at least a few photos.
Sounds like gossip to me.
Kate is sitting at the table behind Alex in the picture of him and Stephen. I don’t understand why he won’t acknowledge their couplehood (or at least coupling) in public.
What a lovely article!
I love this couple to death, and I mean the Steve and Anna one! The “other” couple, ie Steve and Alex, look great as well! I think there is more pics of the ‘other’ than of S/A!
Sounds like everyone had a great time!
