Hollywood Reporter has just announced that Alexander Skarsgard has signed to star opposite Taylor Kitsch in “Battleship,” Universal’s sci-fi tentpole adaptation of the Hasbro game.
Peter Berg (“Hancock”) is directing the action-adventure movie, which adds an “alien invasion” element to the screen story. The script, by Jon and Erich Hoeber, revolves around an international fleet coming together to battle a water-bound armada of otherworldly origin. Alexander will play Kitsch’s brother, a straight and narrow naval officer whom Kitsch, a wildly spirited naval officer, idolizes.
Sounds LAME! No matter the quality of the eye candy, i think i’ll be giving that movie a miss!

Wow, can’t they make a World or Warcraft movie or something? I could see Alex as a Drenei Hunter running around with his companion werebear clad in leather garments… oh yeah, I could see that.
Battleship though? Really?
I think I’ll wait for a little more info or a trailer from the movie before I form an opinion on it… even though the plot does sound a little odd! But I do like Peter Berg’s movies and I think Taylor Kitsch is a really good actor.. and I obviously love Alex so I’ll definitely see this movie, whether I’m interested in the plot or not!! But I do think they ought to skip the whole alien invasion thing… I’m sick of alien movies!!
So, Alex is the idolized brother… how far into the movie do you think he’ll make it before he dies, causing his brother to step up and take action?
It doesn’t appeal to me, but Alex seems to usually be pretty picky about projects, so he must have seen something good in this. Or he’s just irritated he didn’t get Thor and really wanted to do a blockbuster (I’m hoping its the former).
But on the bright side, Alex in uniform. Alex on a boat. Alex potentially wet on a boat. Torn uniforms. Alex kicking alien ass.
Seems though like he’s really going to be rushing his filming on Melancholia for this, since Melancholia is supposed to film from July to September in Sweden, and this starts in August in Hawaii.
Considering Alexander is the CO- STAR of the film I doubt that he’ll be dying in the first five minutes lol
