If you are looking for the magazine – Claire Danes is on the cover. It can be found in the US at Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million. I think there is a delay before they stock foreign magazines, but it is on newsstands today in the UK.

OMG, Alex was joking around when asked about 50 Shades of Grey. He didn’t even know what the book was and now they got him wanting to do it..lol
Either the interviewer really, really wants him to do the part and ‘deliberately’ misread the quote and the context, or just lacks reading comprehension overall.

No he wouldn’t be. No respectable actor should be in this role. This book should never become a film. I wish people would stop obssessing about it.
I try to be diplomatic about 50 Shades, because I’m not immune to the lures of cheap, trashy novels, but 50 Shades just annoys me. I have friends who write better porn than this, and that’s just in blog comments.
Enjoy 50 Shades, but please don’t drag Alex into it.
Alex doing erotica, something perhaps old-style Pedro Almodovar, sure. 50 Shades, no.
Porn? I couldn’t find any porn in Fifty Shades, and I don’t see what’s so trashy about it either. Sure, it’s not Shakespeare, but do you read stuff like that for fun? I don’t see why people have to run it down, basically it’s a love story and with a good script (focusing rather on the emotional stuff and the humorous aspects) it could become a good movie. Who better to play distant, intimidating even, and still show a tiny bit of sadness and vulnerability?
In superficial general terms, it can be considered pornographic. My problem is not that people are reading, or enjoying it. As already mentioned, I wasn’t immune to the lures of cheap, trashy novels with lots of sex: Harold Robbins, Rosemary Rogers, Judith Krantz, etc.
But in no way did I think these were really well written books. And I couldn’t get past a few pages of 50 shades because I think it’s poorly written. And I think that’s part of the backlash against it, it’s not people enjoying the book, it’s people going on about how wonderful it, as if it were it a work of a literature. It’s not.
It’s not the subject matter, it’s that Alex, or any respecting actor really doesn’t need to be associated with badly written Twlight fanfic.
If they did make a movie out of it, it won’t resemble the books very much. Hollywood is all about making $$ and if they think they can do a movie with this subject matter and make $$ , someone will do it. There are probably screenwriters workikng on it right now, especially since the source material is so poorly written, it would be easy to improve upon.
Or better yet, someone will write an original script with this type of subject matter saying they decided to do it because of all these women getting obsessed with it.

But, really as I wrote, it’s not the subject matter, it’s the quality of the source material. I do have a friend who’s an excellent writer, has dabbled in writing erotica/porn/smut, and is actually involved in the BDSM lifestyle. She should write the script, or at least a counterbook to 50 shades.
And if Alex does something with a BDSM theme it needs to be several years down the road, once the 50 Shades hype has faded.
Oh Christ, please no Fifty Shades of Anal Beeds for Alex! He is way too classy an actor for that. I have no doubt that due to the popularity of the books, and the target audience, Hollywood will turn it into lowest-common-denomonator, watered-down cheese.

No, the writer wasn’t imagining Alex. She originally wrote that as Twilight/Kristin Stewart and Robert Pattinson fanfic.
He needs to stay far, far, far away from 50 Shades.
I think the original fanfic is still available , the title is Master of the Universe. I don’t reaad Twilight fanfic though , so not sure where it is, but I ‘m sure some rooting around on the internet will find it.
I saw a documentary (UK television) and they mentioned the fan-fic was taken down as soon as EL James had the deal with this Australian publishing house. Anyway, I would never have guessed this was fan-fic based on Twilight.
But I have to say (this is more directed at cr, no offense) judging this books without even having finished one is at least premature. I’ve read all three and am currently on my second turn and I just picked them up to know what all the fuss is about.
Poorly written or not there’s some heartbreaking stuff in there, and a lot of funny dialogues as well. I don’t even like lovestories (and this is nothing more) but this story made we wish for a happy ending.
Christian Grey is a very complex character, I could totally relate to Ana being completely overwhelmed with him and Christian being frustrated with her, despite the many, many repetitions.
I somehow wish people could get past the BDSM stuff, is just sex. TB is constantly critized of too much sex, nudity and what not. How many times did it annoy us that people are so quick to judge and are not able to get that there’s a deeper level as well?
IMO 50 Shades (yes I read the whole thing) is not a love story. They are just two people who are completely obsessed with each other. And obsession does not equal love. Nowhere do I see anything loving in the books. It’s each of them wanting the other with them at all times, and pretty much unable to function without the other around.
There’s wanting someone around you because you are in love with them and they make your world a better place. Then there’s wanting someone around you because you feel like you can’t function without them and you need to know everything they are doing at all times and how it relates to you. That’s obsession, and that’s 50 Shades of Grey.

I don’t know how you define love and obsession, but I doubt someone who’s just obsessed with another person comes running at the tiniest wink and does everything imaginable to show his/her appreciation.

Yes, I am reading Fifty Shades, and tried to think of other actors mentioned and I could only see Alex. It does seem a little like Eric and maybe Alex would not want the roll as it is similiar to Eric. So, in my thoughts, there Alex is in all his glory:)
Alex has been going out of his way to do roles that are nothing like Eric . He says he’s turned down tons of roles that are basically Eric with differnet names and different scenarios/plots. He’s got a good gig right now and he’s trying to display to Hollywood the range that he has so when TB is over , he can still get interesting work.
This isn’t a guy who is going ot play the same character in every movie the rest of his life, unlike some other major actors we could name *cough* .
If someone presented him with a script with a bdsm theme, and asked him which role he’d want…he’d probably say submissive just becuase he would normally not be cast in that role and that’s the way Alex rolls…..he always wants the most out there choice. Thsi is the primary reason I”m interested in him as an actor and why I’ve made the effort to follow his work and see what happens. All my favorite actors are very electic and fearless, that’s what attracts me.
I don’t want Alex to play that role, CR is a little similar to Eric.

I do have to disagree with him that he is not a prettybody in What Maisie Knew, because every photo I have seen of him in that movie makes my heart melt and my eyes smile.
They make my heart melt too. The thing about Alex is I don’t think he understands or sees what we see in him, which makes him even more charming to me. He should just relax and enjoy it. There are much worse things than making women’s hearts melt.
But of course he won’t, he is serious about his acting and wants to be viewed that way.
I don’t know much about Hollywood’s world but I think an actor have to play a roll he likes but a movie with a lot of viewyers could mean a bonus for his career and I want Alex lifting an Oscar
I love Isabelle Hupert as well. I can easily understand why Alex would so much like to play with her ! I am sure he saw her interpretation in The pianist . And this is also the reason why I can easily see him playing Christian Grey in Fyfty Shades. He’s got the body and the perfect mind to play it right. Unfortunately, the film is probably not going to be directed by Michael Haneke … just imagine what european’s actors and film directors could do with this story … versus what Hollywood twilight’s people are up to !!
I’m sure Eric Northman is written based on him. He’s the perfect Eric, and the best character in True Blood.. miss our viking so much!! Can someone write better script for True Blood please?!? Damn..
