The idea of celibate vampires is ridiculous, True Blood creator Alan Ball says. “To me, vampires are sex,” he says. “I don’t get a vampire story about abstinence. I’m 53. I don’t care about high school students. You have got to be effin kidding me. Rolling Stone, HBO, Trueblood you have hit an all time low, and no you truebies I am NOT a prude. I don’t watch Trueblood anymore because it is crap tv that depends on over the top antics for ratings. Yes I can choose not to watch it, but when I am in the store how can this crap be avoided in the checkout aisle? It will be right there for everyone, including kids, to see. I can turn off the TV, but not a magazine cover in the store. I’m glad I saw this so at least I am prepared when I do enter a store with my children.

While I have children and don’t want them pre-exposed to adult content, I find nothing wrong with this. Maybe it’s because I talk to my children and explain everything to them. All stores are required to use covers on magazines that depict nudity. What if there isn’t a cover on it, *gasp.* Here’s an idea, let’s talk to our children about the things they see instead of shielding them and running in horror. A reaction to somehting like this could lead into serious body images for children.
Secondly, your stereotype of “trubies,” is rather innerving, which maybe was your intention. Are you seriously insinuating that trubies are lonely? To go a step further that they are going to, um, use the picture on this magazine for … stimulation?

can understand your stance when it comes to your children. TB and Rolling Stone is adult content. But I would just like to point out, what magazine cover out there doesnt have celebs naked bits on show? We see bikini bodies, semi nude poses everywhere we look. We are subjected to sexual content everywhere, not just Rolling stone, but all magazines. Not just written content but all sources. Its unfortunately how society is today, and although I am comfortable with it because I am a grown ass woman :) im not however, comfortable with the content around children. But if they accidently see this magazine because my kids are highly curious and adventurous I explain to them its adult stuff and they leave it alone. When I say that, they know their boundaries. So setting boundaries and the kids understranding them, is really what needs to be done and everything will be okay. Its no use shooting down the show in the process! And personally, my kids dont get over-awed but a little skin. I live in NZ and although its winter cold at the moment, summer see’s us at the beach almost everyday. They see bikini woman, speedo men its just the environment here!
I watch True Blood because its different to anything else on TV. Sure there are things that I find ‘eye opening’ but True Blood is just entertaining for me. Personal opinion! Please dont make an assumption and stereotype the fans because your off mark!

I think the real marvel of this pic is the strategically placed blood. Positively Jackson Pollack, the drizzle and spatter work. It’s a stunningly great image, Photoshopped or not. The tidbits of the interview are fresh and raw, too. Just goes to show what transforming power the calibre of the publication can have on its subjects.
