I hope this is better than it sounds. It sounds awful.

Amish are very difficult to get right.

Doesn’t sound very interesting, but it is a short right up, perhaps we should see it before deciding our opinions of his new show ;)

I think this sounds like an interesting premise, personally!

I wonder what this means in the long run for True Blood? Maybe they will consider making season six the final season, if Alan is moving on to other projects?

I think TB will run as long as the ratings support its continuation. Alan just wouldn’t be the show runner anymore.
I’d like to see one season of TB without him as the show runner, just to see if the storytelling would be tighter.

while I would agree that it will continue a few more years if the ratings stay up, I am not so sure that all the actors will necessarily stay. Aren’t there contracts up after 6 years? I am thinking Alex made reference to two more seasons.

And yes, I would like to see how TB would be without AB to be honest. I think he is brillant but I also think he likes to mess with the fan’s minds….which isn’t completely bad all the time, but very frustrating at other times.

Alex has mentioned two more season (last summer) but I think the primaries are all signed for 7? Can’t remember where I read that. Of course, that doesn’t mean that they’ll be on for 7 seasons, even if it runs that long, they can be written out at any time.
I know that AB does like to play with the fans, but it does get tiring. It’s knowing when to back off of that, and knowing when to not go so far astray in some of the stories. That’s something that TB doesn’t always seem able to do.

The thing that bothers me is that he tells us that “everything means something” and this is “popcorn for thinking people.” And that is great. I have enjoyed picking up the clues and recognizing the “bombs” he has laid. But at some point there has to be some resolution to these things…something that tells us “You got it.” Something that lets you know that you were right or you were wrong.

He did that with the Rattray/Bill thing at the end of season 3. Some speculated that result long before it happened. So it was good to see a resolution to that speculation. But other situations have been going on for 4 seasons with no resolution. I just think at some point, he has to let the audience in on it. Otherwise, they just get frustrated.

Probably won’t watch his new show, I can only imagine what he is going to do with that. One AB show is enough for me…I am crazy enough..lol.

Stephen and Alex have both mentioned it in interviews and it’s common knowledge that on American TV shows , principal actors are signed for 7 years. It’s simiilar to sports, after that they become “free agents” . On some shows, they keep running if they can come to agreement on $$$$, but I can’t see that on HBO, no matter what the ratings look like. The cast is too large, they all wnat to do movies which means more $$ for less work, and HBO isn’t going to dole out cash , no way. The show is doing well, but it’s not like it does CSI numbers or American Idol is it?

Anna makes what, only $75,000 per ep? And she’s the lead.

            • cr says:

It would never get CSI numbers, being on premium cable. And for premium cable it gets very good ratings. But you’re correct, they’re not going to up the salaries of the lead. I think you are correct, Anna gets around $75 per episode. Which is very nice money, but about as much as she’s going to get on this show.
It may not cost as much to produce as Game of Thrones, but it’s still expensive. I’m sure it makes money on dvd/merchandising/overseas but how much?

          • Biilswoman says:

Stephen and Anna signed seven season at the beginning of season 1. Alex was not even contemplated at that time. So Alex signed six seasons before season 2 .. grain t is 7 seasons and for all.

I also am worried about TB but you are right, as long as the ratings stay good the show hopefully will go on… I don’t even want to think about it going away!!!
